Al Stewart (b. 1945) has created some wonderful and beautiful folk-rock songs that consist of rich woven tales of characters, emotions and experiences that many of us encounter but also weaving into many of his songs Historical events, and individuals. Al in many ways is unique in melding the two to create ‘Historical Folk Rock’. The aim of this mini-series of podcasts is to look upon the lyrics of his songs to pull out some wonderful lyrics and interweave that with a larger look at the historical events and individuals that are upon his canvas. As such the series is therefore less a critique of assessing and ordering the best songs in his back catalogue.
