Episode description

Mark Anderson discusses the foundings of Rollins College. Central Topics include the process of Winter Park being chosen, the first 5 years of Rollins College, and Winter Park in the late 1800s.

"There was considerable rivalry among small communities back then to attract settlers and one thing the founders of WInter Park thought was that having a college located here would help put the city on the map, help establish this as a model community where people would want to come live. And it would not just be another frontier town, but there would be a focus of culture and education and the city could stand above the rest in it's leadership."
