This is a true story based on the book “Pioneer Days in the Southwest” rewritten by Michael King and narrated by Brad Smalley. The three-part podcast is a first-person account of Emanuel Dubbs found in Chapter 2 entitled Personal Reminiscences p 30 – 38. Part one of the Emanuel Dubbs story takes you back to August 11, 1872, to Newton Kansas. The story opens when Dubbs and his wife enter town-witnessing excitement in the streets. Dubbs takes it upon himself to explore the true accounts of the Hyde Park Gunfight between Mike McCluskie, a burly local man who had worked in Newton as a night watchman and a Texan named Billy Bailey
