Episode description

Introducing Wild Geese, Work, and Wonder: a podcast designed to foster conversation and deeper reflection on vocation. We will be interviewing current students and alumni from Pacific Lutheran University from various disciplines, asking big enough questions, and really fleshing out what vocation looks like in the everyday. The name is a reference to Mary Oliver’s poem, "Wild Geese." Discovering vocation is not about attaining perfection, but about listening. It requires authenticity, self-awareness and engagement with the world around us. Mary Oliver has been instrumental in the work of the Wild Hope Center for Vocation at PLU, and we derive that name, too, from another poem of hers, "The Summer Day," in which she asks, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
