Why the Fork is a podcast about the design of everyday humble objects. Why? Well, they're like what they're like. Is it the history? Is it the design? Is it the technology? Who invented them? And, you know, maybe why aren't they better than they are? Hi, I'm Ben Diamond and I'm an inventor of consumer products. We've got some of the most humble and beautiful objects in your home and office. Things like the tin opener, the toaster and the hair straighteners, and even the amazing

washing machine. So the podcast is for anyone with a curious mind who wants to know the history, the design and the marketing of those everyday objects that you touch, well, every day. So we started thinking our podcast was just going to be about the design and the inventors. It turned out it's a lot to do with Napoleon, social changes, how society has evolved. war, all sorts of different things that have come into it, like the marketing and the channels, and they've shaped why the

products look and feel the way they do. Maybe you're a designer yourself or an inventor, or perhaps you've got great ideas, or perhaps you run a business and want to know how to be more innovative, or maybe you're just curious as to why the tin opener is so easy to use. Come and join us on Wire the Fork. Follow us, subscribe, and tell your friends.
