Girl? Dude? Is it just me?

Or Summer's the most stressful thing ever? I mean, I don't know what I think. I'm on the like the verge already of a mental breakdown. It usually doesn't happen this early, so.

To explain and talk to me. I mean, I have my thoughts as well, but talk.

I just I love being busy.

I thrive on that.

But I think at least during the school year, I get it, like time. I'm just such an introvert and I need such time on my own that at least during the school year, I've got while they're in school to get work done, to get laundry done, to do whatever, and then we can be crazy in the afternoons.

That's fine, But now it's like go go, go, go go.

Oh.

I just I literally lost it the other day.

I felt terrible what happened.

Emmy was like, you know, we've got the new puppy, and she had him and then she gave him to Ramsey and then no one could find the dog, and she's like sitting there trying to explain to me the whole thing, and I just was like, just find the dog. But I yelled at her and I felt terrible. But I looked at Nick and I was like, mental breakdown.

He's like, it's coming earlier this year. Yeah, I just don't do summer as well. I don't.

First question, did you find the dog?

Yeah, he was in the house. He was lost, running around getting hit by a car. That's why I was screaming at her. But apparently Ramsey did do what she was supposed to and brought him in.

So does it not get easier than when the kids get older because they've got friends to play with?

So you would think, so I thought, and for a short time it kind of did. The problem is is like, for instance, right now, I think I have five boys at my house that I just threatened out of my kitchen and like one you cannot speak, you can't do anything.

You know, any had friends, you.

Know, it's just like they're all at my house all the time, or it's driving them, like they just make all the plans like I need you driving here and driving here and driving here, and it's just it's a lot.

It's just it literally is enough to like, yeah, Mike.

I feel like so many people can relate to that, though, And.

How do I say this.

In my situation, it's a little different because our summer schedule's week on, week off. Now, last year I made the mistake of and you you warned me against it, you, but I I have you know, normally I don't go a week ever without seeing the kids. In our parenting plan, it's always every Wednesday and every other Friday Saturday. And so with summer, I remember, it's stressing me out so bad, like I'm going to go a week without seeing my kids,

Yeah.

Well, and even if you have help in that week, especially with the littles, it don't you're still coming mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy.

You know.

So it's like, I don't think people fully understand that.

You know.

It's like, because you know, so many people are like, well, you're fortunate to have help because there's been there's been summers where I've had a nanny or I've had help or whatever. It's like, but if they're in the house, it doesn't really matter because they're just constantly coming up to you and constantly needing something.

One million percent, Yeah, because I would have someone help on his weeks. But yeah, I'm like, well, I might as well not even have this person here because they're coming to ask me questions twenty four to seven. So and that's the same thing with kind of summer. Now it's Jace is so he has to be so active. Like even when I brought him on set, like Jolie was the best set kid. She just like would just sit there in color and watch Jace. He was there for five minutes, He's like.

I bored. I want to go home or can we go somewhere.

So I'm like, oh man, So that's another reason why too, where the set time got cut a little short because so now in summer I'm like, all right, on my weeks, like we have to be doing something because he's just very like wants to be like active and going. But then I'm like, all right, for that week I can't work.

I will say, you're very good at like delegating your time with that, and I think that because I mean, i mean you're very like, I know, like, okay, you have the kids in the summer, like at this time we can talk about work or whatever.

I'm not good at that and I need to get better at that. So then I just get stressed.

You know, I should be working when I'm doing something with the kids or I'm working, I'm like, I should be doing something with the kids.

And then it's just good.

Yeah.

Well, I mean I think that's also the same. I mean when I was packing, studying lines and then finishing my book and then I had the kids there, I'm like, I feel so guilty because I have them. You know, I put the TV on for them. But then they're asking me questions and I'm like, I just need one hour, Like I will play with you, swim with you. I just need one hour. And it's like it's the It's funny because when you ask for one hour, it's the

Yeah, that's the piece.

I'm like, this is infuriating you guys just played for an hour by yourself when and I was like, and I usually just let them when I like see them, I'm like, all right, this is this is great, but then I'm doing something else. But when I want to work for one hour, then it's like my mom my, ma, mama.

Yeah.

Yeah, I will say that gets a little easier as they're older, Like, I mean, I have now threatened the six boys in my house than Ammy. I'm like, you know, it's it's a little bit better. Luckily, ramseason camp too, so that's a little helpful.

But I mean I might as well just add a baby on top of all this.

Yeah, totally fine, six kids, but don't let us work during the summer.

Now, I think what I'm gonna have to do is uh? I think I'm gonna have to hire help.

Yeah, I think you will for sure. I mean it's like you're definitely gonna have the baby obviously full time.

Obviously, yes, you know the other ta Can you imagine if I'm like, hey, Mike, here you go take the baby?

Hey pretty well? Am I taking the baby for a week?

There you go?

Do you want any want to have these?

I want to you.

The other day though, and I go, wait, I didn't have as a mental breakdown last summer.

I was like, because we had fifty to fifty last summer.

Oh wow, I.

Was like, you want to go back to that.

I was just gonna say, what is something that you can do? Like can you do that? I know you said you want to get better at it? So is it a Catherine like take a take thirty like I don't know, an hour, thirty minutes like this is this is mom's time, like mom needs from this time to this time, and then you just like put your head in Yeah.

So I don't do great with just like thirty minutes or an hour. My biggest thing, So yesterday I asked for it. I said I need everybody out so Nick took the puppy. They went to the farm and just stayed there all day because the puppy's also an element. And then Kateen came home from football but then immediately went with his friends, and then Andy was out and

All right, good, So that's a since there's still so much summer left, that's a good little goal to go. But then also I think just to say too, just to have your back. Oh, emails pop up all the time, right, so it's it's socially like things come up, so you need you need more than the hour, So I get that. But we can do Friday at the pool like we talked about when I get back.

Which will be helpful because then we'll be face to face, right, And then like one night. I used to do this a lot when I worked in an office, and then you know whatever, I one day I was like, Okay, I'm not going to stress.

I'm just going to make sure that my emails nothing's urgent.

And then at night and I know that my pupil looks white email, but like sometimes then I can get.

Quiet and then I just like do a bunch of work when everybody's in bed.

Hey you do you do you? And whatever works for you. So anyway, cheers the summer, Cheers the summer.

I think again, a lot of moms can relate to that. And I think, you know, you just got to find that time. If it's one day, ask for whatever, like you got this. We are going to take a break and then we are going to get Kit Hoover on. Do you remember her cat?

You've been with me when I've been around her before.

I's much to say. I thought, yeah, I thought I had.

So I was just with her back in when we were promoting the Mario Lopez movie. She's on Access Hollywood and Access Daily weekdays on NBC, but she's been a host for a really long time. She was on Fox News ESPN funny enough, our baby Mama isn't here, obviously, but Kit was also on MTVS. She was the first season of MTV's Road Roles. So that's crazy, I know, so funny.

But let's take a break and then get her on.

Congratulations, sayank you. Last time I saw you, I had no idea this was coming. First of all, I have three. How excited are you? Well?

That's I was so excited to talk to you.

Because you know, my bestie up there, Catherine, she's got three, and I'm now I'm just like, I just need to talk to moms that have three, because I just need to understand what And also I'm kind of worried about, you know, is the age gap too much or so I'm curious what's your age gap?

And so first of all, how old are your other two?

Right?

So, well, when he's born, my son will be my son will be turning five, and my daughter will be turning eight.

Perfect. I think that's great. So mine are there's a four and five year age gap between. My daughters are twenty one twenty and then my son's sixteen. And the third though, Danna, you're just gonna it's like they're they're like the pet, you know what I mean. I was such a nerd and such a dork. I stood outside her preschool class and just walked three hours like a lunatic. And then by the third literally He drove himself to school at like age seven, like I just got I honestly,

It's so great.

What about the pregnancy, Like, how are you feeling this time?

I actually feel okay, I think, and just uh, you know, I'm older, so I'll be my due dates on my fortieth birthday. So I think that kind of makes.

Me a little like, you know, I didn't. I didn't.

I didn't think I could get you know, like I didn't think i'd get get pregnant. I just didn't think I could.

I don't know.

So it's just it's all just like wow, it's really just sinking in, like this is really happening.

So I got access Hollywood at age forty. I'm going to be fifty three in July. Janna, You're gonna love your forties so much. And then the fifties I'm just obsessed with sort of everything comes into focus. You know where you're going, you know what you want to do. It is one of the best decades ever. I always say to age like gratefully, like, now you're gonna have three little chickens, right, unbelievable career. I just I'm so

How old were you with your third, so.

Let's help me do the math here. So I was thirty eight maybe so about the same as you it was.

I mean, I agree, I've got a hernia, I've got a large fibroid. I've got I mean like I've just got I'm like I look down the other day and I'm like, holy swollen good.

And I thought are like stretch marks, which I didn't get with the first two. I just think my body was like here we go. I do think maybe I bounced back quicker or maybe I just was so focused on the other two and now this baby. Oh this was funny. Were you lucky enough to have a night nurse with your first two?

So what we did is we did like two nights a week just to get a little sleep.

But my fiance is like, no night nurse. I'm like no, no, no, no.

Like you don't like it's so I was like, it's so good for both of us to get sleep, Like even if it's just one night a week, like for the first month.

Tell him to slow his role because with my first two we had no money. Oh there was no night nurse. And I remember I got mestitis and I was just like, this is exhausting. And I remember thinking, oh my goodness, like I don't know how people do this. So with the third the same thing. I got mistitus. The breastfeeding thing was tough for me, and by that point I didn't care and I was like, I need a night nurse.

You know what I mean.

Yeah, but yeah, they're so expensive. But again, it's that's what I was trying to tell Alan. I'm like, babe, it's worth it, Like for you, you are going to be exhausted and then like that'll then affect just everything else the next day. So you know, like we just let's just let's just signure try it a better person.

It's also did you have any postpartum with your other.

I didn't know, luckily.

Yeah, I mean I had the random like I remember my ex walked in.

I was just crying and I was like, I don't even know why I'm crying, but it's just coming.

Out, you know what. I think it's the sleep deprivation for a lot of us, right with those first who it's like, oh my god, it's just ground Paul Day right, just living for icemom. We used to live for nap time and when there was two naps, it was like yes, and then they go to one nap and then of course, wait till the teenagers like, oh, Nelly, it gets so fun.

Yeah, Kat Scotts, she's got a teenager.

And then well, I guess Emmy as hell old out.

She's eleven, so she's a preteen. Caden's sporteen, which I mean, he's great. I feel like boys, I don't know, they're not too crazy, not too hard, but I mean this year is like he's living his best life.

He's the most.

Social, like you go everywhere, wants to do everything, which I love.

But I'm just like, I can't keep up with him.

It's great. So Kat, tell me what you have, what ages and what sex?

Fourteen year old boy, eleven year old girl, seven year old girl?

Okay, so that's yeah. Boys I think are effortless. They're just on the move and so fun. I feel like my son's like a golden retriever, you know what I mean, on the move. Wait till you get both of you and your daughters get teenagers. I thought, oh my gosh, Campbell and Hayes are never going to turn on me, like, never go through that phase. Boom, was I wrong? They're going to go through it all. My best advice for

Oh I love that.

Yeah, that's great.

Never ask if they have plans, because if they don't, they already feel bad about it, you know what I mean. I just was of like, we're awesome. Like I just would pick them up, you know, go make our ice cream sundays, whip up a dinner. We'd put on Farris Fielder's Day Off or some silly movie and just made it like an effortless thing. And then sometimes they'd have friends over or not. But middle school girls are very funky.

Yeah, that's already started for fifth grade for my daughter. Yes, this is crazy.

And you know they have phone when where my daughter has a phone, and so I you know, I go through it and stuff, and I'm just like, I'm not ready for middle school.

If this is what's going to be, like, well.

Think about it like when we were younger. And again I know I sound eighty seven, but like you never looked at pictures of yourself, right, I mean Schmer just did this in her stand up and it's so true, like you maybe had like one picture a year that or maybe two. If your friends developed now they're constantly looking comparing, know where everybody's going. I would hate that. I think I was oblivious to who was doing what it's.

Been knowing where everyone's going that has just been the hardest. And I'm like, that's so true. Like you felt left out if you were at school and someone was leading you out. You didn't know what people were doing on the weekends and in the summer. But now everyone knows, and everyone's feelings are hurt, and I'm just like, it's a lot.

It's a lot. And again, my girls had social media way early in phones. I just sort of, you know, I kind of I never took it away or whatever. And then I had a deal when they were teenagers. I said, look, here's the deal. I'm not checking your phone unless you give me a reason too. But if I feel like there's a need, I'm gonna get it. Has you know, who knows what in the world. Sometimes they're they're going through but it's uh, well, guys, I'll be here for you for that, guys. Patience.

I'm just gonna be like every year, I'm gonna be like, okay, am I on track?

Help me?

But I always tell my girls too, I'm like, look, your looks are your least interesting thing about you? Like be kind, funny, aren't be like it's just you know this day and age, I think for both of you, just leading by example and laughing. I just god, they're so serious nowadays, So yeah, they really are. I just like humor for girls and a little bit of self deprecation, Like if you can laugh at yourself, you win, And

I agree.

Switching gears to the interviewing side of things. By the way, you are one of my favorite people to ever be with an in an interview or just like you're just your energy, all of it, Like I just I love you. Has it been because you've obviously done a lot of stuff.

Is there.

Something that you're like, I would love to do this that I haven't done, Like would you want to have your own show? Or I know right now you're with Mario. Is there some like what are you like? This would be awesome?

First of all, thank you for that, Dana. I appreciate that. I love interviewing people. I've never you know, I started in the Winnebago in TV, So for me, it was never about fame or looks or trying to do this.

Oh you would be amazing. I would listen to your podcast and Harpy, It'd be so good.

I want to make it like The hen House, where like we get together with a big group find out, like what do we really want to know? Like I'm interviewing Janet Kramer, what do we want to know? When I get all the questions from everybody, right, and then we just dive in.

Is it hard for you though?

Like I remember when you interviewed me and my ax, Like is it hard for you to hold back on certain things you want to ask?

Yes, I'm always for me. There's a couple of things. I'm not a gotcha person, and I feel like everybody's got a story that they can share what they want to share. So like when you were on with your ex, I just wanted to be careful, right, there's human hearts involved, and especially if there's kids involved, and so I'm just never one I care about the person more than I do about the interview or the TV show or get

So you're and you're great with that because there's so many like you know, which outlet's going to go try and like dig it in to get the story, and you were so respectful. I think that's why I've always just loved loved you.

On that note, have there been any certain celebrities that have just been outright rude to you?

And let me think, let me think, I love these questions.

You know what, I know, same, same, same, and I want to give you an honest answer. The funny thing with me, and this is with friendships and everything, I sort of always forget if anybody's bad, and I just sort of my add I'm just like onto the next like squirrel, So I forget a lot too. I'm going to think about somebody as I'm thinking about that. A funny one though, y'all, is I was on the red carpet with Mario for that I think it was the Golden Globes, and I really wanted to interview Brad Pitt.

It's like being on Regis and uh, well now Mark or sorry Kelly and Mark and being like can I take can I take your ce Kelly?

I always say it, it's like the sit and what well, Jenna? What about for you? On the opposite end, who's been rude? With the interviews You've had to navigate and you've had to You've been so raw and vulnerable and real, which I always appreciate as an interviewer or just somebody. That's that's why so many people love you too, and your music translates. Who's been kind of do she to you?

I would say it's more reporters. Like there's a certain reporter that I have a really hard time with because something had happened and I even sent her proof of something like this is not true. Why would you run the story? AND's she goes, well, you can post about it on your story and then I'll run that. I go all you care about is the drama?

Yeah, I literally just sent you proof of something and you're still going to run this other story. How could you do that?

You know?

And so that was just like, oh my god, they don't care.

So it was a publication that I was so I try to really steer away from that publication now.

Like again, it goes back to like the middle school like that people just.

Want the drama.

Yeah, but I would say, I mean, I'd have to think back to but normally. And Kat is also like my day day manager. She's pretty like good, you know. And I also, like, I'm very open about things. So I get you asking the question because I've been open, so I don't fault someone for bringing up something.

I get it.

I've put it out there, so it's now mine to then go, Okay, I've kind of moved on. I'm not going to talk about it or I'm just going to give a little snippet just because I get the question, you know, so let me now how to figure out how? And I think that's what I had to learn, is how now I have to answer things.

Well, you're become so great at it, and again, never stop being raw and real. I think that's kind of all we have. And keep good people like Kat in your corner. I think that's it too, right. For sure, many people are around you, but it's the business has become so crazy and when I started it was very different, and coming from sports was different because athletes are a different perspective of what you're trying to get. By the way, I look so sporty that you know.

It looks so cute on a run after this.

So I was like, Okay, let me just do it. But I was so excited to talk to you. But so your athletes are different than celebrities, and musicians are different. Now you're both with the celebrity.

I don't know, but Cat Katherine, you we were before the show. We were talking about the view and so Kay, I know you wanted to ask her a question about that.

So curious how that was, because it just every time I watch it, I'm like, I can't keep up, Like there's so much fighting, there's so many different Like how was that co hosting of.

You, Kat Jannet? Let me tell you so. First of all, I had just had my first baby. So this is twenty years ago and I was on with Barbara star Joy in Meredith Okay, so like the ogs and I'm so young, and I think they thought I'm from Atlanta. I think they thought, Okay, here comes this like conservative Republican, which I don't even know what I was at the time, but I think they wanted me in a box. I was scared to death, y'all. The funniest thing was I

Well you can't have you know, hard titties on uh National TV.

Like oh I love her love, oh I love that.

Well, yeah, I always because I I'll sometimes turn the view on and a part of me always have I've one of my little goals or future things as I'd love to be on a round table.

I just think it'd be so much fun.

But that's the one round table that I just feel like i'd get eaten alive at because I almost feel like if you don't agree with their stuff, you're just gonna get yelled at and hated, and I that piece I just don't like. I'm like, can we just agree to disagree and be kind when we do that?

Yes, one hundred percent. And on that, I mean you've seen kind of the younger person in the seat. It's funny for me to y'all because I was always like the young one, like they brought me around twice for each time to go on that. And now I'm like, oh wait, I'm not that would be the young Like I'm the old bird in the seat, like that's how much time go by, which just cracks me up. But you're right, that is one. Now the talk is different

Well, I mean again, look at you now, you're absolutely crushing it, and you know you're I really hope you do the podcast too, because it is it's inspiring people to go because I know there's things that you know, maybe Kat want to do, my Chris and are their co hosts that just had a baby, like, there's things that we all want to do, but we feel, well, I'm forty, it's never it's probably not going to happen now, and it's you know, you're you're proving that wrong and

And so the joke is that I said to my agents like, hold all calls, I'm gonna I'm going to take a personal beat. But the reality Cat and Jane, nobody was calling, nobody was looking for me, like nothing, And then randomly I got this call for Access Hollywood, and I only took it and moms can relate to this to get away for the kids and like a free trip to California we had, you know. So I was like, I was like, I don't even care, just take me to California for the interview. I went in

I love that. Well, we have someone that wants to say hi to you too, because you were her former boss.

Hannah wakeo, man, this better for you. Hannah was my actually my second assistant, right because crazy Nadine Nadini left and Hannah came and changed my life. Yeah for three years. Yeah, Winkelman is such a star. And I remember she was dating the cutest boy way back when. Now her husband and they're baby. I'm obsessed with Hannah. All I was thinking is how happy your mom must be. She's very excited.

Chris had said that he was like, I think the only person who thinks he's cuter than you might be Kit Hoover.

I'm like, not everybody's got that. Wait, Hannah, and look and now you're EP and you're doing so great at work and have such a great life. I'm so happy for you. Thank you.

It's so good to see you. I'm so happy you're still doing well. And the kids and how about the kids, Camberlin Hayes. I was just telling them that you're EP of this podcast and I was going to get to see you, and they were like, oh my gosh. She was so nice at all the ihearts been used and all that.

Yeah, I mean the fact that she couldn't even really think about who is rude to her because she just like moves on from it. I'm like, I'm gonna be that way, like not even remember.

But yeah, I just I love her so much, and I think, yeah, because I sometimes think that we go, oh, it's too late, but it's never too late.

Well, since I can't have my big fortieth blowout, we're going to have a mad fifty.

So that's good because I honestly can't afford my fortieth birthday party anymore with the new house.

So I think it's because you're having anything under.
