Tiny TRX4-M and Huge Honcho SCX6...and The Great Lakes Gauntlet 2022
Lots to talk about. Let's do this.

Lots to talk about. Let's do this.
Welcome to the RC-Crawler-specific edition of the podcast, where we only talk about things related to crawlers. It was bound to happen some time...that and Josh from Harley Designs made fun of me for how many times I say "Monster Trucks" in a day...so I had to try not to say it too much in this episode. Get your SCX24 dialed in with upgrades from https://www.ccxrc.com/ Don't forget to get a koozie while you are there.
I had the privilege of working on the Losi shoot for the LMT Mud Trucks last month and have some fun behind the scenes stories to share. Join Jeremy and I as we talk about our experience making the video.
Got a couple topics to cover in this one. I just got back from a trip to Virginia. I had a shoot with a non-profit client for an upcoming video series, and reached out to Ryan about doing the livestream with him last week. I also got the new ARRMA Outcast 4s–which is amazing! The final topic was the Great Lakes Guantlet event coming up in Michigan September 16-17. Hope you enjoy it.
This episode covers a wide size of topics from my 1/5 scale Primal RC Monster Truck down to the 1/24 scale Axial SCX24 and FMS FCX24
Axialfest Badlands 2022 was off the hook! I'm so glad I was able to make it–even if it was only for a day and a half. Definitely was the best one yet and very well attended. The trails were laid out really well, the events I saw were well run and well attended (I didn't get to see TTC and the Concourse). They gave away tons of cool prizes and the trophies for the events were awesome. The best part is always the people...and there were a lot of them there. Very fun to meet up with old friends and...
As someone who has as Masters Degree in Communication Arts, this is a really frustrating problem for me. The frustration really lies with the companies that allow intellectual property rights to be so blatantly infringed upon, make it hard to report/remove, and continue pay people who do it because they want people interacting with the app regardless what keeps them there. It is maddening to spend the time and money I do only to have people invest nothing, but grab my best content and other crea...
I have a lot to say about the RC Monster Jam World Finals. Some about the racing and freestyle, but mostly about the experience. What an amazing event they put on for the pit party. The Losi LMT proved how impressive it is as an RTR RC Monster Truck Platform this weekend. If you are looking to get started in solid axle RC monster trucks, this is a proven way to start. Check out the Losi LMT at Horizon Hobby: https://bit.ly/3mNmW6y
When it comes to the RC Hobby, we all make mistakes along the way. Don't let it get you down. Learn from it and move on. My mistake was pretty big and during a time when I needed to be getting things ready for a big race. Instead...I had to tear down the truck and repair it. Lesson learned. What RC Mistakes have you made that you've learned from.
Lots to talk about in this episode and I don't even talk about some of the cool new RCs coming. I'll have to have another episode about that. This is episode is about my trip to Freestyle RC Raceway for their Spring Trifecta, the CCxRC Mighty Handy Tool selling out in under 24 hours, more CCxRC products coming, upgrading the SCX24 Bronco so it doesn't tip over so easily, and more.
Axial's new SCX24 Bronco just hit store shelves and I was able to get my hands on one...errrr...three. The mini RC game is really stepping up and my boys and I have fully jumped in. You can check out the CCxRC line of hopups for the SCX24 here: https://www.ccxrc.com/ Get a new Axial SXC24 Bronco here: https://bit.ly/3udNu5i
First, I want to thank Dana Surrette for telling me to keep up the podcast last night, because it reminded me that I had recorded this episode earlier this week. I've been working with custom-made mini RC monster trucks for the past year and now have the new Furitek Rampart kit in hand. It's a thing of beauty.
Are you feeling bored or disconnected with the RC Hobby? I've been there, but I don't know if it's actually boredom or a mind game that's going on inside. I'm still actively engaged, but don't feel as plugged in as I normally do because I'm focusing on a different element of the hobby, but thinking about the one I was plugged into months ago. It's a weird spot to be in and it's easier to deal with if you just call it out. Let's talk about that. Then I'll answer questions that you submitted via m...
It's been a tough final week as I work to get my Tiny Gappin' It Build ready to throw down it's run time for the competition. Weather has SUCKED! Honestly weather or not...I procrastinated because of other "life" things that took priority over playing with toy cars. The show must go on–Rain or Shine...or Snow (which we just had last night). Video entries are due by March 27, 2022 by 11:59 PDT. Submit them by sending a link to me via the contact page on my site: https://www.ccxrc.com/contact...
In this episode I'll talk about my thoughts on the new Traxxas Sledge and talk about why I'm not currently planning to buy it...which begs the question..."How Many RCs Do I Really Need?"
In this episode, I'll be answering questions that came in from Instagram and talking about why I think the Redcat Kaiju is one of the "best bang for you buck bashers".
We're into week 4 of the Tiny Gappin' It Build Off series and I finally got to put my build on the ground to test it. The goal is top speed within the 90' x 12' area. I tested my speed and was a bit disappointed. We did extend the deadline to March 27th to allow for more testing and tuning videos so it isn't a one and done build. We realized it was looking like that was going to be the case and that didn't really lead to creativity in the builds. Also...Pablo fused his driveshaft and axle togeth...
Please excuse me while I play catch up on the podcast, life, and RC projects. It's a busy season here right now and I don't really see it slowing down any time soon.
I was asked to start sharing these livestreams as a podcast for people who want to listen while working. I'm going to give it a go and see if they jive with the normal podcast uploads or not. This was from the livestream with RC Amigos last night on the CCxRC channel. We discussed the Enduro24 "Tiny Gappin' It" Build Off we are doing. Who wants to try something a bit different? You do? Cool. The plan is to have a competition to see who can take an Element RC Enduro24 and make it into the fastest...
The Talk Your Face Off Enduro24 "Tiny Gappin' It" Build Off has begun! I'll go over the rules which can also be found here: https://www.ccxrc.com/post/enduro24-tiny-gappin-it-build-off I also talk about almost losing my Traxxas Maxx when it fell through the ice on our creek that flows into the river. Wow! YOU guys are awesome! Thanks for helping CCxRC reach 50,000 subscribers. It's been a wild 7 years.
If you've been following RC on YouTube, you've probably seen some of Chris' amazing creations on his Hemistorm RC page. I had him on the podcast for a chat about the hobby and what he sees moving forward. Make sure you check out all the new projects he is working on. This podcast is a bit of a rant. Some may want to skip it, others may wish to indulge. Hit a boiling point with the feigned righteousness and the experiences of other RC people being used to say I lied an overhyped things. I don't take well to my integrity being called to question. Just because you pay for a car, doesn't mean your review is better or worse. There is more to take to account: location, temperatures, driving skill, type of driving, etc. Two first experiences will never be the same....
In this episode I discuss the new ARRMA Fireteam release and why I think it is one of ARRMA's best RCs. Then I switch gears to talk about the Monster Truck Wars show that we did an RC intermission for. Check out my article on the ARRMA Fireteam at CCxRC.com
2022 is starting off big with the new Primal RC Raminator V3 announcement and a new C10 Mega Truck. But I'm also liking the small side of things and just finished a Furitek Scythe build with Mofo RC SCX24 upgrade parts. We'll talk about that and more.
It's been a few weeks since the last podcast, so I've got a bit of a brain dump on this one. Lots coming for 2022. What do I think of the new Traxxas Maxx with Widemaxx. My comments are pretty positive on it. I like it. Mofo RC and Furitek RC have some interesting new products coming for the micro RC enthusiasts.
Unless you've been living under a rock big enough for a SCX6 to crawl over, you've heard of Josh from Harley Designs. His channel is immensely popular and his weekly Scale News Update shows keeps up-to-date with all the current releases and announcements from the industry. I asked him to come on so we could talk about how he got started in RC and how he found full-time employment in the industy. In this episode of the While My Batteries Charge Podcast, Justin Eglitis of Big 'Merica RC joins me to talk about RC Monster Trucks. Justin's RC Monster Truck videos are very popular and stand out from other videos as he adds real monster truck engine sounds to them to add realism. He's also very good at driving them and creating new tricks for the rest of us to try to keep up with. Today's guest is Eric Padilla from RC Patina Guy. He creates some of the baddest paint jobs of rusted out and patina'd beauties. Since I like things a bit grungy, I love his work.
