Hey, I'm Maria Fern, and I want to invite you to check out my podcast, When You're Invisible. I'm a first gen daughter of Mexican immigrants who started off on food stamps and got to the ivy leagues. I've always felt like an in between her. I have roots everywhere and nowhere. Because of my experiences and my families, I've become a lover of people and stories that don't get told,

and that's what this podcast is for. I want to share stories not of those with cloud wealth or power, but of working class people and those who are mothered by society. When You're Invisible is my love letter to the people who make the world run and go unnoticed. How would you define being invisible? Being looked over? It's kind of people see a silhouette of a person and not the actual person. I talked to people who have helped me get through my years at Columbia University. They

would never respect us as they should have. When I'm stuck in I'm still thinking about what had happened, so I would brush it off. Who is it hurting that person? Who isn't hurting you? Those who have helped me grow and mature in the years since you go onto survival mode and you're like, Okay, how do I just get through the next hour? Am I going to need this

money for the next four or six weeks? There is a story behind each person, and that if we are able to embrace those people and just recognize that much a person, what a difference that will make and chat with those whose work has gone unnoticed. I don't think I feel seen ever, to be honest, don't these group of people who sacrifice so much they remember on nine eleven for those days and then we go back to

our minds. I hope to build a community here that will inspire you to have generous conversations with others that are different from you, conversations that might help you see life in an entirely different way. The golden rule, right, if we treating each other the way we want to be treated. If you're going through our hard time, you want somebody to be empathetic, and we should do that.
