She grew up in rural Jamaica and had a sheltered upbringing marred by fatherlessness and destitution. When Chriseve moved to a more fast-paced life in Kingston with the intention of going to university, financial challenges forced her to delay her enrolment by a year and instead enter the work force at a young age. There she met someone she trusted and befriended only to be abducted and sexually assaulted.
