For nearly a decade, suspected lawbreakers have been prosecuted under the Single Justice procedure, which was brought in to speed up verdicts on “lower-level” crimes.

But, a joint investigation between ITV News and the Evening Standard has revealed that this has meant people have been wrongly prosecuted.

So what’s happening to stop it happening again? And can anything be done for the people already affected?
