Episode description

The 1906 San Francisco Quake is one of the most powerful on record in California. Since then, there have been dozens of strong quakes that have caused widespread damage and loss of life – from the Northridge Quake in Southern California to the Loma Prieta Quake in Northern California.

Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones reminds us that quakes can be sudden and unpredictable, but preparing for them can remove some of the danger.

First, we take a look at how to prepare for a quake with Chris Nance of the California Earthquake Authority, and Annde Ewertsen of Earthquake Brace + Bolt.
