yet. You know why, because we haven't thanked all the wonderful people who make it possible for us to bring this program to the airwaves. The housekeeping and that being let's think of sponsors, Catrick Brewing Company, Superior Past Control Beer, a logic conference, and events we know to take. Insurance Group, excuse me, the Backyard Grill and corseponsing our podcast cast, Brandy and

Cass. Brandy. Oh, it's been a high week, buddy. We had a we had a weird day here in southwest Michigan last week I think it was, and the temperature got to sixty degrees that was the higher and then went right back to high humidity and sunshine, heat and everything. We were back in the lake but for one day. And it was a weekend too, which sucked because you were supposed to be in the water out on the boat chilling sixty our cool fronts. It went from one hundred and six

two hundred and three. Oh wow, that's that's in the shape. But that's okay. I am got my cold beer. That's gonna keep me nice and chilled. Let's crack open a beer. This, by the way, brought to the table sponsored by our friends at the Backyard Grill on the northwest side of Houston, where they have forty eight taps and over one hundred different beers, and James and I we've attempted to consume every single one of them this week, and these are two of them. No, we've never done

that. We drink responsibly. We do. We do drink responsibly. We wouldn't been lasted ten years on the radio by being irresponsible. But who's going first? Chad On brought to the table. You're gonna take the leader. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna go ahead. And this is a this is a long distance dedication to our friend Beerbow Oh nice, I like beerboh, stop it down. That's right, I gotta do this. You're gonna do this, that's right, Beerbo, Beerbo Baggins. That's right. We

were worried about him. I got a story about him coming up, and I gotta I remind me. I do have a quick update on rag Brye. But during rag Brye, Beerbo came from Houston up to Iowa to ride and it was involved in a very nasty crash, shattered his collar bone and busted his head. And the very next day after he gets out of the hospital, there he is in the parking lot of Confluence Brewing Company in Des

Moines. I pulled in the parking lot and there he is. He's got a beer in his hand, and he's got his arm gonna sling with a bunch of snacks in there. He's eating gritos out of his arm sling. And I just wanted to say, hey, Beerbo, recover, heal well, And in honor of you, I'm opening up a confluenced beer. This right here is a Swaheli IPA made with rhinoceros horn. Oh wait, no, sorry, I'm like this is a Rye double ipa, named after a

rhinoceros that was born at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines. There we go, Oh sorry, fun facts, you know, facts, details on the ingredients. Oh and this this beer one rhinoceros horn free. But it is an eight point one percent double IPA made with Rye and I didn't get a chance to try this while I was at rag Brye. But yeah, they fell in love with the rhinoceros they donate. The brewery donated a keg for the rhinos to play with, and they just fell in love with it.

So they decided, Hey, let's name this one. This is the Anaya's rhino Rye double IPA. And by the way, I've got a stunt liver in here. Bill from Harbor Light Brewing Company, he saw the light on. And you know when when you see when you when you work at Harbor Light. By the way, Bill got a promotion. I feel wait to tell you, Bill got a promotion. He was owner. He was owner and brewer at Harbor Light Brewing Company. Bill, I heard you got

a promotion this week. Tell everybody what your new job is. Yeah, my new job now is head brewer. That means he hired another brewer, so now he's way to go go all right, So I now have someone assistant brewer, so which automatically promotes me to headbrewer. Not that I earned it, I just got it because I have someone congraduations well deserved, thank you anyway. So that's what we cracked open a beautiful beer, white pillowy

head, very nice crisp bitterness and and really clean finish. And I'm gonna use the words right off the can. But it has a hefty biscuity here. It is multi backbone. It's a hefty biscuity backbone. So that's what I brought to the table. Well, and I is Rhino ry double IPA from Confluence Brewing Company de Moiniowa. James, go, all right, so this is a beer I'm bringing to the table. I don't know a lot of information. I try to do some googling, and there's not a lot

info out there. But it's a collab between No Label Brewing Company and Didn't County Brewing. This is a Berlin of vice. And this is called the Long Time Coming, and I'm gonna crack this and I like long Time Coming is the name of the beer. It's a Berlin avice, a collab between No Label Brewing Company and Didn't County Brewing Company here in Texas. And I'm gonna go and pour a little bit of that sour notes right now, let me see the wig of this tart wheat beer, German inspired, very tart.

I get some fruit notes on a passion fruit. Maybe I'm gonna let that breathe for a second, but this has been brought to the table, brought to you by our friends over at the backyard. Girl Check kicked it off with the I had the confluence. It's the Agianna's rhino, right, I'm probably pronouncing that wrong, but hey, it's one rhinoceros horn free and it's a rye double I pa eight point one percent beautiful beer. Nice job. And then I brought the long time coming Berlin of ice collab between no

Label Brewing Company and didn't kind of brewing company. But coming up, I will talk a little more about these beers, but we gotta take a first break on tap. This week, we're gonna take a look at Coors Light, mid or Light. There's sales and what is the best beer city? All this is so much more, including than what's on tap with you A fun fact of the week, which is coming right up. If you're buying yourself drinking a beer and listening to the show, you're not drinking alone,

So be a pal and put your pants back on. What's on tap? What's on tap? This is what's on tap radio. Hey, you know it doesn't matter what kind of beer you drink. Do you like an ice cold? Do you like it's served cellar temperature? Do you like it served in a fancy glass or just drinking it from a long neck model. It doesn't matter because everybody who drinks beer loves great food and you're gonna find both at the Backyard Grill, located on the northwest side of Houston, Texas,

at the corner weston Jones Road and proud sponsors. But what's on tap radio? He it's Chad Pilbying, the beer loogic guy here telling you to get out there and support those who support us. And when you go in there, hey, Like I said, it doesn't matter what kind of beer you like. They've got it ice cold beer right here. Or check out their cellared beer menu. Oh yeah, ask for the special stuff. They got a secret stash forty eight taps everything you want in a hundred different food items

at the Backyard Grill. Check out their beerbed, sign up for their newsletter and find out more at the Backyard Grill dot com. That's the Backyard Grill dot Com. One two All right, welcome back, learn a commercial break.

I was trying to find some information on these spear. I brought to the table the Long Time Coming. It's a Berlin Advice collab between Didnton County Brewing Company, which is in Didn't, Texas, which is north of Dallas for those that didn't know, and then No Label Brewing Company, which is kind of kind of close to where I live Studios Katie, Texas. And they teamed up and made a Berlin Advice at six percent alcohol by volume, which is kind of high for Bertlin Advice A little bit. Where'd they say

they brew that beer? Didn't they They brewed it in Didn't County Brewing Okay, so the folks from No Label they loaded up the old uh yeah, they rode Doctor Love family truckster and got any you know what I'm talking about. You head out there to No Label and you meet Doctor Love and you know, I mean, he's the man got the Rush soundtrack going, he does I know the Rush playlist? Excuse me, but yeah, Long Time

Coming is the name of the beer and nails a collab. And so what I try to do a normal do when I can't really find a lot of information as I go to the untapped app and either a lot of people haven't had this beer or just a lot of people haven't checked the beer in, because according to untapped, there's only been four people that have checked this beer in. And that's all I got. There's really not a lot of people writing notes about it. Remember back in the day when people would go to

the untapped app check a beer in and then write some notes. So I get some tartan flavors, maybe some passion fruits. People don't really do that anymore. They'll just know, they'll go in there, they'll check it in, maybe take a picture of it where they're drinking it, and that's really all about it. It's that's it. That's all we get. But it's a sour Berlin of vice. But I do get some passion fruit on there, or some kind of tropical fruits, whether it's a mango, but there

is some tropicalness to it. It's very nice. I just don't really know a lot about it. It's six percent alcohol by volume. Two breweries got together and they said, hey, you want to do a thing, Yeah, let's do it. All right, you want to make let's make one of these. All right, I'm really good care about style guidelines? Nope, all right, this was gonna come in at six point one. Sounds good? How we do? Damn good? All right, let's put it in a can and put a label on it. Let's let's make sure those

boys over what's on tap radio talk about it. And there it is, boom, a dent thing going on. Ye and uh me, I know we're just trying to save the rhinos. I mean, this is the Eastern black rhinoceros and this beer named ana Anyah Rhino Rye. By the way, any however you pronounce it means beautiful flower in Swahili, by the way, fact check me. I dare you. By the way, good luck spelling then, because I don't know how to pronounce it, but somebody will look

it up. But that's what I brought the rye double IPA stunt liver bill in studio from Harvard Light Brewing Company helping me out. So we're gonna be able to tackle a few more beers on this episode. But this particular beer, we both discussed it during the break, A little bit of residual suite, but really clean fermentation, great balance between malt, sweetness and bitterness. We uh, we're fans, We're like like it. Yeah, good yep, Yep. This this when we keep in the fridge if we were ever

back in Des Moines Confluence Brewing Company. Nice job. By the way, again, that was a long distance dedication to our friends Bierbo real quick. I know we're gonna get to the official What's on Tape radio fun Factor week. But Beerbo I ran into him over at the Texas Craft Brewers Guild roundup. He was there on the first night Friday. This was a week before

he was heading out to rag Brye and he was volunteering. He was pouring beers and I got to chatting with him and he was very excited about going to rag Brye. He has never been before, so he was all happy about it. And you know, unfortunately the news how he got injured. But hey, hopefully as this fast recovery and he can go back out there

and maybe next year the show. He has a good friend of the show a long time for Navars and I've got to chat with him and as he was pouring beers, I was like, a beer bow, what do you what are you poring over there? And he was like, oh, I'm pouring Live Oaks. October Fest in July. In July This was like July twenty something, and he's like, would you like some? And I'm like, what's the date on that beer bow? And he looked at it. Oh, it's canned a week ago. Hm. Way, that's some fresh

beer. And he asked me if I wanted a little bit of it, and I said no. Well, and I'll tell you why. I say, oh, I know, why, tell everybody why, James, Guys, listen to this bill. I love october Fest beers so much. Martson's are like one of my favorite beer styles. But I discipline myself and I wait until Labor Day weekend so I can say goodbye to the summer pills neers that are still on the shelf. We should still be enjoying. And so when Labor Day comes around, I'll say bye, summer Pills, see you

next year. And then I'll go to the margins and I'll started drinking the october Fest up until well I run out of it, which is usually about December thirty, first January. First, Yes, you are that right, You are that right. I drink those in November and December, and you're absolutely correct. Oh wow, look at that dude, he's just throwing You don't need to suck up. We already gave you the third mic for the

week. All right, I'll listen. So speaking of ragby real quick, I have to talk about this and it's gonna time really nicely with our fun factor the week. Oh yeah. So there was a team that gave me a wrist band and they said, hey, hey, hey, we're gonna make you part of the team, but you gotta mention us on the show. Is it Team Swifty? No, no, it's Team Busted and and it's buss bus Ted. So it's bust Ted. And I said, explain to me, Team Busted. And first thing it is they said, well,

you gotta take our picture. So I took a picture. No joke, I'm not gonna say who. I'm not gonna say, but uh, they said, they lined up for the photograph Team Busted, and I get the camera up, I get the phone up and half the team turns around. Stay go the shorts right there. I'm like, wow, Wow, whoa, whoa, what just happened these kids around? Now there weren't any kids around. And then I took the picture and they said, now that

you've seen that, you have to drink with us. And I went Okay, So now I got invited onto the team bus and there's Ted and I'm looking at Wait, who's this? That's Ted? Oh wait, we're on the bus with Ted, and Ted offers me a free beer. And Ted is like seventy something years old. And one of these ladies rips his shirt open and says, this is the man. And I was like, big party bus here, so that they gave me free beer and that ties into

this week's official What's on Tap Radio Fun? Fat? Does Ted know us? He does? Now? Now the official What's on Tap Radio Fun fact of the week, brought to you by Who's ever checked? Clear? This week? Right, Professor Pilbeam take it away? Well, free beers. A lot of people say that's the best beer. A lot people say, you know, what is the best beer? Free beer or the beer in my hand or a cold beer, or you know, whatever comes in a bottle, can or keg. You know, that's kind of my answer.

But free beer on rag Brie is always fun. So I want to think Team Busted and they're a party group. That was a lot of fun. But what if you don't get free beer? That means you have to either steal it and then you end up being the subject of our whole my beer and watch this not steal it. Yeah, don't do that, or you have to have beer money. Now. I wanted to do a little research into the freeze beer money. I thought, surely there's an origin of this.

Now. Some people know beer money as the beer the money that you use to spend on beer. Beer money is also a card game. Some people reference beer money as Mom gives the kids lunch money and Dad cakes all the money that's left over and uses that to buy beer. These are popular urban legends behind it, but the real urban dick Sary refers to beer money as money left over that is not enough to pay the rest of your bills for the month, so screw it, go out and get drunk. So

that's really what it is. It's like I can't pay all my bills, so might as well go out and have a beer. However, the origin of the phrase beer money goes all the way back to the year eighteen hundred with Prince Frederick, Duke of York, who was serving or King George the Third's military, and he did not believe that his troops should have to suffer through war the way that he suffered when he was just a grunt out there

in the late seventeen hundreds. So when he was in charge in the eighteen hundreds over King George the Third's army, you know what that man did. He made sure that all his troops had beer money, which was the equivalent of one pence per day, which men were allowed to use to buy beer. So the origin of the phrase beer money comes from the year eighteen hundred, when Prince Frederick, Duke of York coined the phrase saying, my troops

shall have beer. So that is your official what's on tap Radio fun fact of the week Here. I thought my wife was like, here, here's some beer money, go have fun. People referred to beer moneys alt. I like the one though. It's like, all right, I paid all my bills and I've got two more bills to pay. Not enough, but I got enough to go out to the bar and get hammered. Yep, we're going let's get outlown off. All right, good fun fact, Chad, all right, we gotta take a break. So to come, where

is the best beer city. I'm gonna get to the bottom of it. This is what's on tap radio. Hang with this we'll be right back. The taps are open, and so is your fly. Oh the only little stubbies we want to see have beer in them. Zip up and buckle up for more of What's on Tap Radio. A lot on tap this week, got our beers in us and I was over hearing Chad talked to Bill during the break and he was saying that apparently they need another beer or they're on

we do It's it's really kind of stupid, yea. Whenever you have a stuff beer liver, it's like, well, I'm may bearers. We're gonna get to do this week. Oh we are in luck, ladies and gentlemen. Because Bill showed up and when he whenever he walked into the studio, I took one look and I was like, oh, this is not gonna be good because he didn't have anything in his hand. And you know what

that means if you come empty handed, you sit on the floor. There a Bill, Yeah, but he dropped off his beer at the Beer Logic World headquarters and drinking emporium refrigerator. And now we're cracking open from neighboring brewery about halfway between Tantrick and downtown Allegan and Harbor Light located out in South Haven. This is from way Post Brewery, Fenville, Michigan. This is their field beer. Now you don't get we don't get a lot of field beers

on the show. Okay, not really with that style, but I know we're not. And that's the thing is is, if you think about it, we we go to the Great American Beer Festival every once in a while. By the way, if anybody wants to sponsor that trip, reach out to us on our social media at What's on Tap Radio or send us an email What's on Tap Radio at gmail dot com. We will let you know

what the terms of that sponsorship are, and they are very generous. Just so you know the word very, very very very you will like these terms. But field beers or any beers incorporating vegetable as a flavor or carbohydrate and any other type of adjunct in a secondary mash. So it's a it's a rustic farmhouse style beer basically what it is. This particular one Bill says does not have any hops in it. It's it's a cheerful wheat beer ascented with

lemon, grass and some other ingredients. I don't know how to pronounce and ginger. It's like chamoma might chama might shamo meal. Yeah, that's what I said. Yeah, if I put my glasses in, I realized that that l was a t all right, the other way around, or the tea was an ell. There he goes shama meal, and I'm not I'm not big on shama meal. You know, my daughter has a garden. She asked me, Dad, you want me to try hops? I said

no, but she never once offered to do shama meal. I don't know why, all right, But anyway, this is a very multi Let's take a sip here and that that tastes like lemon grass and no hops. That is rustic, earthy. It it well made beer, but I'm not loving it. It's not my style. You know, it's one note. It's really kind of one note. You're not expected to like have no. I mean, I love the brewery and I've been to the brewery plenty of times

and they make tons of great beer. But field beer it's it's kind of like grut where there's no hops and they use different herbs and spices to balance out the malt. This is just a very rustic beer. There's nothing wrong with it. It's just not to my liking. If you hate hops, you're gonna probably love this beer. Interesting. All right, well beer from way post Brie's. Let's talk about gotta get into bud Light. We haven't

talked about bud Light in a while. I cried to avoid it. Yeah, you know, it's kind of like beating a dead horse, but there are news that comes out and so we got to report it's and this one is it's good news for bud Light. So this one is. But this one when we talked about this in when we talked about this in the production meeting, I said, this is how fickle people can be, even celebrities. So it's been about four months since this whole bud Light debacle came out.

But maybe the bud Life freeze is finally starting the thaw. Because remember Kid Rock went viral back in April when he shot up some cases of bud Light. Because they've collaborated with that trans influencer on social media. Well Sewing on Twitter thought it'd be funny to sneak in some bud Light into the Kid Rocks honky Tonk Bar in Nashville. But when he went in there, he was surprised to see several Anheuser Busch beers on the menu, including by Lights.

What what? And it's not a secret, It's actually on the menu on the website kid Rock has. It's not like one of those secret menus where you gotta know that you gotta know the secret pass, like going to in and Out Burger and you order some animal style. Now, there's no

secrets about this. This is actually on their menu. But kid Rock hasn't commented, but others are pointing out that bud Light is also back on top of John Rich's Nashville bar, The Redneck Riviera, which we reported on the show that he was going to discontinue selling any Anheuser Busch products, but John previously said that he would let his patrons to side if he would keep it and sales plumbing it back in April, so he removed it, but apparently

the man is back up because it's now available. So it's very unlikely that either of these guys have had a change of heart. But they're also not going to let a good chaos hurt them in the wallets and John said, at the end of the day, this is capitalism. I just find it funny how fickle people are. I mean, he was so at I mean he acted like a pendulent child. Just mean, but no, no, no, I'm shoot it all up and I'm like, okay, I mean

that's how you feel. But I mean, you know, it's kind of like it's kind of like saying it's the old saying it's not an airport. You don't have to announce your departure. I mean, you can just leave, you can just stop doing it. And but he wanted all the likes, and then he wanted all the buzz and they got it. And then now that he's allowed but Light back into his bar, he kind of looks like, you know, old Harvey two faced there, because he's actually put

himself in the same situation that bud Light put themselves in. It's we're gonna do this, oh wait, maybe we're not. Okay, now which side of the fence you're gonna hop on? Because you pissed off everybody who was conservative in Nascar, and then you came in your backtrack, and then you pissed off everybody in the LGBTQ. Plus now you're standing in the middle and you're like, dah, you don't know rather just what You're gonna scratch your

watch or wind your ass and nobody knows what's gonna happen. Now, kid rocks like, we're gonna I hate you, but I'll sell your stuff at my bar. Now, people are gonna go which side of the fence you're gonna hop on there? Buddy? Do you think that he was a depression that no one would even find out? He's like, yeah, what are

the odds or someone's actually gonna see this? Well, you know he did run for office once here in Michiganary threatened to and I want to say, you know, he would have made a fine politician, flip flopping like that. So speaking of politicians, you can have politics. Let's get into some politics. Yeah, and rhinos no less because we had a rhino beer to kick off the show. Rhino Rhinos acronym Republican in name only, And some

people might say that about this particular individual when Ron DeSantis. Now, I'm just gonna put we are reporting here, this is the news. These are

the facts. I am not making this up. First of all, I am going to insert a little editorial though, and that is he has threatened to sue on behalf of the State of Florida Anheuser Busch for investing in Dylan mulvaney with bud Light because the stock of Anheuser Busch dropped fourteen percent, and in the Florida pension fund for their employees, they had fifty million dollars worth of anheuser Busch stock, and so for it to drop fourteen percent, they've

lost roughly five point two million dollars in value in that pension fund. And they say that was the direct result of them in investing in Dilan mulvaaney. So he's thinking of a class action lawsuit on behalf of Florida. Except the entire pension fund is worth one hundred and eighty billion dollars and in the year twenty twenty two, that pension fund dropped six point three percent on its own without the help of bud Light, which six point three percent of one hundred

and eighty billion. I didn't do the math on that. It's a lot more than fourteen percent of five point two billion, But just so you know, five point two million dollar loss represents point zero three seven percent loss of the total pension fund, less than half of a percent. Ladies and gentlemen, one tenth of a per cent. This guy is going on a witch hunt for clicks and likes, but the thing is it's not working. Ronda Santis, who is now announced that he is running for president, went out

to the Great State. It's always a great state. Nobody ever says the mediocre state of New Hampshire. No, the flyover state of New No, it's the great State of New Hampshire. And he went up there to campaign. We're gonna rally the troops and we're gonna drink beer and it will not be bud light. And if you want to spend fifty dollars and come have a beer with me, Ron de Santis, we're gonna have a huge turnout. We're gonna take America back. Only we're not gonna do it with Donald

Trump. We're gonna do it with the Ron de Santis way. And he showed up in Concord and they were like, Uh, yeah, we haven't sold a lot of tickets. All right, fine, we won't sell them for fifty bucks. Let's make it a dollar. Drop the price of beer for a dollar. You want to have a beer with Ron De Santis for a buck? Well, people showed up all thirty of them. Yes,

ladies and gentlemen. Ron de Santis flew from Florida to New Hampshire to rally the troops around beer and taking the country back, and ladies and gentlemen. When he was selling beer for a dollar, he found thirty people to show up at his rally. I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. I'm just reporting the facts. And I do believe he is attacking bud Light as a part

of a witch hunt. But I find it hilarious that he couldn't find more than thirty people that wanted to have a beer with him in New Hampshire. I like the fact that it says despite the incident, the Santas team insisted they're not struggling to connect with the voters. Maybe it was just a raining outside and people just didn't want to get out and drive. It was a dollar of beer, dude, it's kind of cold. I didn't want to get outside. You know, I'm not And this is not a political stance.

It's just stating the facts. So there you go. There's our political commentary, not relay, more, just reporting the facts. Speaking of stocks. While we're talking about it, we're gonna take a break, but when we come back, let's take a look at Coors Light and Miller Lights stocks. But spent a minute. Since we've checked that out, all this is so much more what's on Taprio, hang with us. We'll be right back. When someone says, hold my beard, you know a trip to the

er is in your future. So hold your own beer, buddy, and just listen to more of what's on tap? What's on tamp radio, dance gift teaching how to I am not a big country music fan, and I will be. I'll be honest. I did not know who Chris Lane was before the story came out, but apparently it's very popular. And Chris Lane, well, he was saved by a cup of beer. Chad, We was saved by a cup of beer. How about that for a headline? Chris Lane. Chris Lane was saved by a cup of beer. I'm always

slightly exaggerating, but here's the story, all right. He's enjoying a beverage while performing recently in Michigan. I should exactly where it was Alligan, I don't know, but when he tripped over them, when he tripped over a monitor and landed chin first into his red solo cup full of beer and the cup prevented Chris's chin from hitting the stage floor. Dude, this is like, this is like one of those water barrels on the side of the highway

right in front of a concrete barrier. You car drifts off and boosh, you hit all the water barrels. That's the water. That's the chin, water barrel of red solo cup. So yes, there was beer everywhere, which is also sad, but more importantly, he was okay. But he even joked about it. He posted a video online and it starts at real time view of the fall and then it switches to a slow mode where you can actually really see him wearing the beer, and it captioned it Michigan.

I was followed for you, thanks for the good times. Oh wow, somebody in the marketing department worked hard on that one. That's right. So Chris Lane fell into a cup of beer while performing in Michigan and that cup of beer saved his life. Like that saved his life business as we've actually we've had multiple stories over the years. By the way, I'm just gonna mention it. I know, James, we said we were gonna mention it here ten years on the air. We hit that benchmark. We hit it.

I wasn't I know you said not to bring it up. I'm bringing it up. Okay, So you started this my wife? It was my wife. My wife is actually the person who posted on social and I was like, wait, what she's congratulations on ten years of radio broadcasts, and like, what is she talking about? Apparently she shared the post of the first show of back in August of twenty thirteen. Hey check out my husband's

new show, What's on Tap? It's coming up, and she shared it saying congratulations, and I thought to myself, Wow, has it been ten years. I knew that we was coming up. We were in our tenth year. This was we were entered to the year. But I knew the actual anniversary itself was coming up, but I had no idea when it was. And yeah, it was last week. So congratulations Chad. Ten years. Yeah for the last bear for your ear. What's on Tap Radio?

Yeah, Like the last six months we kept saying we're nine and a half, I'm nine to three quarters, Like we're almost there, man, And now a decade of doing this and I can't say thank you enough for bringing me on board and for starting this Yeah, this has been it's been a fun ride. I couldn't imagine making it to ten years, but here we are. And I got a really nice listening to email that I hope to get to this week. If we don't get to this week, but maybe

next week. Really nice listener to email about you know, the decade of us doing radio. But yeah, it's been a fun ride. We've met some great people along the way, great interviews, Miles traveled, Beer's drink. I mean, here we are hanging out with Bill, you know, yeah, last week, and we're gonna and the thing is is in honor of the ten years, by the way, because I have a stunt liver in studio, we're able to drink more beers and drink a little bit faster

because Bill's drinking the majority of it. And you know, I'm I'm riding the show, you know here, but I get to I get to sample all these So we have a stunt liver and in honor of ten years and your favorite beer style and pointing out Bill's absolute hypocrisy. But the man who said, James, you're absolutely right, you don't drink october Fest beers before Labor Day, Well thanks, thanks, for october Fest beer from atwater Bach

Brewery. Right here, we got an october Fest beer that he brought to today's show after telling you that you are absolutely right you do not drink october Fest beers before Labor Day. Well thanks Bill, Yo, day gum hypocrite. Listen, there's no limit to his hypocrisy. I'm throwing him under the bus here. I have to three october Fest. I'm assuming it is. Is this is this fresh? This is last year's. I believe this last

year? Oh? Okay? Is there a date on the can? Well, we're gonna find out here because I'm pouring it here in the can's upside down, and there is a date on the can. And I gotta put on my glasses. Hold on, I can't read. You have to shut up, man, Let me, let me, let me just look here. Hold on, it says February twenty second. Oh best before date, February twenty two, twenty twenty three. So this is last year's. So so Bill brought Okay, So this is what happened when Bill got here.

He reached into the crisper drawer and drank it out of date all day. I pa. Now he's serving up out of date october Fest. But let's see how it held up. Okay, yeah, october Fest loggers usually age better as they get older, as opposed to all da, this stands up. Okay, this is all right, it's not oxidized. It's it's I

have an october Fest at my cooler over here from last year. I haven't cracked it though, But I'm not cracking this got a little bit of a kind of a wang to a little little metalliccky to me, maybe just a little bit. Maybe that's because of what I just came off of, which had zero hops and this. So but we're gonna let it breathe a little bit. But meanwhile, James, again, that's we're drinking an out of date Octoberfest to celebrate ten years. Oops. Oh well, it's still pretty

good. I still stick to my morals. You know that's got a multi back phone. No shut up. Oh oh, I gotta kill his mic now, all right, here we go, late, we got we gotta picked up this conversation where we left off. We were talking about bud lights. Yes, this is a weird conversation to have, but for for most people, they're like, please tell me, you're not gonna talk stock prices and financials again. We are because now listen, don't hang up yet,

that'll change the channel. Don't don't hit skip. Just wait. This is important right here. We're not gonna get it in the minutia of it in the fine print, but this is kind of important. There is a huge shift in purchasing and buying power because we've talked about the demise and the downfall of bud Light for so long. We've talked about how Cores Light and Miller

Light have benefited. This is gonna sound weird, but Molson Corps reported an eleven point eight percent surge in net sales over the second quarter and a five percent jump in financial volumes. This is huge. A five percent jump for a company that size is millions and millions and millions of dollars. I mean, we're talking big money here. Lots of people have shifted their purchasing habits.

But though it's a way of reflecting that, we look at market share and market sales, and bud Light was the number one best selling beer in the United States for so long. I mean, they just topped everybody, and they just they were so far ahead. And then Madelo was right behind them, and then after Medelo and Medello has made a huge surge in the lake the last five years. It's just blown up. And they were slowly catching bud Light, but slowly, and bud Light was way ahead. Meanli,

there's nobody else in the race. Nobody was even close. However, Cores Light and Miller Light combined now exceed the sales volume of bud Light. So that right there that you might be thinking, okay, but that's two against one. That's one okay, Yeah, right, Well, here's the thing. Both brands are owned by Mulson Cores and the CEO Gavin hat.

Yeah, that's how you pronounced his name. He said. The earnings of Cores Light and Miller Light are now fifty percent bigger than bud Light for the total industry dollars, and Mulson Cores shares are up thirty percent year to date thirty percent. And that's not a cheap stock. So for it to go up thirty percent, we are talking. I mean, these are huge market shifts. This isn't like, oh, yeah, we add another fer mentor No. This isn't like, oh, we put out a few more six

packs this week. No, we're talking major, major buying shifts in the market, and the winners in this Mulson Corps and the shareholders of Mulson Corps. Because now Miller Light and Corps Light combined exceed the sales of bud Light for the first time ever. I mean that's it's it's huge, two against one. I don't know. Let's look at can we look at Miller Light versus bud Light? Oh well, we already know they're they're less, but I mean they were never combined. They were nowhere close before. It was

nowhere close. But when your sales volume go up by what did we say, eleven point eight percent and the bud Lights drops fourteen point eight percent? Actually no, I take that back, butt Lights down thirty three percent. That's what you get. That's a weird thing to celebrate. I'm just as my humble opinion. All right, that's our number one of what's on tap radio coming up next hour? Where is the best beer City? And I hear we got an interview coming up. All this is so much more.

It's what's on tap Rador. Hang with this, We'll be right back spilling a beer. Oh no, the adult equivalent of letting go of a balloon. So like that last little bit of hair remaining on your head, hold on tight to more of what's on tap radio? Father of mine? Teller, where have you been? You know what just closed my eyes? My world? This upire, father of mine. I can't believe I'm giving in. It's peer pressure. Yeah when I was still yeah you are, looks

what's on tap radio? Sorry, I'm trying to google something real quick because

I'm giving in peer pressure. You know those after school specials that used to watch when you were in grade school, and they're like just to say no, well, hold on, do we have a whole generation that listens to this program that doesn't with the after school It was the ABC After School Special and it came on usually about three o'clock Eastern time, and you come home from school and it would be on and it was always some life lesson about

you know, whether you were a latch key kid or getting bullied or say no to drugs, or cheating on a test or all these other things. And well, we just bullied James, and I blame Bill for this. So there was studio real quick one more time. Bill's Bill Harbor Light Brewing Company, Stunt Beer, Liver at the Beer Logic World headquarters and drinking emporium, and he brought in october Fest beer after telling James, you don't drink

october Fest beer until after Labor Day and totally agreeing with him. Here here, I am going, you know what, I have an october Fest from last year. I'm gonna wait to crack because I don't like to drink october Fest beers until after Labor Day, because I like to wait. You know, I'm a big fan of the Martsen style, and so I want to wait till Labor Day so I can really just enjoy it. And while I'm

still enjoying the summer pills. And meanwhile, during the break, I have Bill and Chad chirping in my ear, going, hey, man, once you crack that, that marks and tober everyone. All the cool kids are doing your rule. All the killed kids are doing it. Man, be damn it Bills beer. So it's okay, damn it Bill? All right, So I did, I'm gonna do it all right? This is yes, ten years of breaking a rule, all right. I don't see this. Yeah, we're starting a new decade. You can start with a new

rule. I don't feel comfortable doing this, but I guess I'm just gonna go in and do it. Anyways. By the way, we don't make it to the end of year of this year and make it to year eleven, it's all because of this right here. This, this is our downfall. This is the hole in the boat man. This is the iceberg that hit. I am reached in the cooler here at studios and I grabbed in october Fest from twenty twenty two, and this is the last Kaiser, Cowtown

Brewing and Pettle Martin Logger. So I have no idea how this is gonna taste. It's about a year old. I love Cowtown beer. Oh all right, if you're ever in Fort Worth and everybody's like, well, if you're in the d FW area, what breweries do you need to go town? Go to start with Cowtown, then go out and visit everybody else. I'm telling I really do like Cowtown, big fan. I'm mad at Bill for this because it's freaking good, isn't it. It's in a prettyld martsin

at seven point eight percent alcohol by volume. Let me take a s. Yeah it's a big one, Yeah it is. It's it's I have it fresh every year when I go up there or down there rather could from Michigan. That's so good. It is good. I know. I'm jealous. I'm like, damn, I want that beer. I love that beer. It doesn't even taste so you get the breadiness, you have the toasty notes, toffee, a little toffee. Yep, that's it. Man. I can't believe I'm breaking my own rules. Why did you talk me into this

bill? That's all your faults. You're supposed to be up they're supposed to stain your ground, and you're like, okay, And so I was like, oh, I guess this bill's doing it. I guess I'll do it. But no limit to your hypocrisy. The last Kaiser Cowtown. I'm sure it's out now, but this is the twenty twenty two version of it. It's still it's still one hundred degrees in the summertime in Texas. So yeah, it's time to release that, Marzin. So yeah, there you go,

breaking my own rules. So good, that's good. Though, it's good. I'm but this is the last one I'm gonna drink for labor to day. You hear that, bill, I understand and watch this brought to you by the rain alt up ten Hacken Insurance Crew, where they'll cover you for just about everything except this. Rules are rules. This is where the trade rules are rules, and if you followed rules, you would never end

up in this segment. So I was just gonna say, speaking of which, James, you may end up on this segment someday because you're breaking rules. I don't know, man, I feel weird giving props to this guy for wanting to help Al's daughter, but maybe he should have just waited until the next morning after he's sobered up. But there's a fifty year old dad in You want to take guests where, let's go with Rhode Island. No, it's not Rhode Island, Billy. You want to take guess where this

took place? Denver, Colorado? Not Denver, Colorado, North Florida. Looking for Florida, guys, No Florida, Queensland, Australia. Oh all right, yeah, So I mean you could have at least told us it was a different continent, because I wasn't assume you're gonna guess it it was gonna be Florida. I'm like, no, getting Florida in the week off. I was gonna say Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but hello, I wasn't

sure. Queensland, Australia. So a fifty one year old dad got a d u y one Sunday while driving his riding lawn mower through the town at one o'clock in the morning. Oh dude, yeah, I mean that's how you that's how you keep that yard looking good and avoid the heat. So yeah, I'm good. When the cop pulled him over and asked him what he was doing, he said, quote, I thought I'd drive this old girl over to mow my daughter's lawn. Good motives. Maybe maybe, maybe

he wanted to mow before she woke up. So when she woke up the next morning, she had a cup of coffee and she was like, oh my gosh, my dad wore my grass over there. Yeah last night. Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure she would really appreciate the lawnmower going by it at one in the morning. So the cops said, one am probably not the best time for that. His chess cam. His chess cam was running and they got video of it, and I looked at the video. I was gonna air it, but all you hear is the sound the lawnmower

and you can't really catch what they're saying. Oh so it wasn't a Tesla lawnmower, so it wasn't electric. It wasn't electric. But they did give me the old breathalyzer. Oh well, on the old lawnmower, and he blew at point one nine. All right, yeah, alright, that's uh what almost three times the limit. That's twice the legal limit here and almost four times a legal limit in Australia where it's five. It's point oh five in Australia. Oh well done. So he's doing achiever. He's doing court

in September facing a drunk driving charge. If he takes the riding lawn more to court, that would be gold, ride it in there and then get there. Actually, what he should do is he should drive there at one in the morning and mow the courthouse lawn with a beer in hand, and then go in and see if we get the charges dismissed because he's already done

community service. That's how you get out of there. By the way, if you're looking for an attorney, Chad pilbe an attorney at law Chad Wore in the x x x L suit, all right, that's your your hold my beer. And watched this A drunk dad got a dui on a writing lawn more at one in the morning, so stupid. And this has brought to me by a Reguleton Hickland Sherf's group where they they're not going to show you for a writing lawn more. You know what. He was gonna do

his daughter a nice favor. She might be going through a rough time right now, and he was gonna surprise her by mowner grass. But this cop got in away. Maybe she could reciproate by bailing him out. She's gonna post the bond. Dad cut my grass five times for this, all right, that's hold my beer. And watched this still to come Where is the best beer city? And we got an interview coming up. All this is so much more. We'll be right back today. We are heroes. Heroes

who rescues some beer that was trapped in a bottle. This is what's on tap radio. If you're here in West Michigan and you have insurance needs, why not support somebody who supports us. Ring all the ten Hacken Insurance. Reach out to our buddy John Clunder that's ringing all the ten Hacken Insurance RTI, Grand Rapids dot Com my exact words right as we were going on the

air. I can't wait to October. It's my favorite month. You got college football's back, you have the NFL's back, you have playoff Baseball, but more importantly God october Fest in your glass. And now, because of Bill, I broke my own rule. I'm drinking that last kaiser Cowtown Brewery out of Fort Worth. This is the Imperial Marzin at seven point eight percent. I'll call it by volume. I'm not mad at this decision, but I'll feel guilty about about it tomorrow. You you entered into the danger zone?

Is what you did? Did I did? Yeah? Well, James. In honor of that, I have yet another beer to open because stunt a beer liver Bill in studios. I guess it's a missail. No no, but no, no, that it's it's actually a double I PA from Pigeon Hill Brewing called danger Zone and the label on it is gold. I mean it is a total total rip off of I mean complete with the volleyball. Look at that. That's funny. It's total. So Pigeon Hill Brewery, Mosquegan, Michigan, my hometown where I was born, and uh,

I have not had this beer. I wanted to bring it to the show. I saw it, and I'm gonna be honest. I bought this beer for one reason only the can art. I wanted the can art. I wanted the can for my collection. So I have no idea what to expect here, but Pigeon Hill Brewery out a Mosqugan, Michigan, and oh yeah, and interesting with beers don't live up to the label. I'm I'm not sure how old this is. It says five sixteen twenty three is when it was can so it's only a couple of No, no, it's only a

couple of months old. But it's a real generic version of a centennial. I PA, there you go. In my opinion, it's it's it's beer. It's good, people, Bill, people don't know what a centennial, I pa is. Oh, but it's a very good I pa, Yeah, it's it's good. It's good. It doesn't. It doesn't wow me. It doesn't. It's it's I'm not gonna lie, it's it's not my favorite double ipa. So but again, we don't love every beer, and

I happen to like a lot of beer from Pigeon Hill. This one just didn't This one didn't scratch where I itch, and I did take three SIPs before I judged it. I'm glad I got the can in my collection. But that's what we uh, we kicked off here and opened it up. So I like the guys at Pigeon Hill too, So maybe maybe it's just love them. Maybe Bill and I we've had. You know, we did have an old October Fest before this, so you never know. Hey, Chat, I don't know if you saw the ticker, but I gotta do

this. Breaking news, breaking news. We now interrupt this program for a special news bulletin. There's a brewery out of Georgia that's acquired some breweries from Annheuser Busch. What that's this in? That's right, breaking news. This just in Thank you, James. We're here live in Michigan right now. We're bringing you news out of Atlanta, Georgia and their parent company which is Canadian based, and since we're here in Michigan, we're close enough to the

border. Yeah do you smell that? Yeah? Canadian based cannabis company Tilray Brands, who's the parent company of Sweetwater Brewery out of Atlanta has acquired now eight beer and beverage brands from Annheuser Busch. Annheuser Busch now in a massive sell off of several brands, releasing brands such a Shock Top, breckon Ridge, Blue Point, ten Barrel, Red Hook, Woodmer Brothers, Square Mile Cider, and Highball Energy, just to add to some of the other brands

that they've released recently. Now Annaheuser Busch is but in the news with having closed several breweries as well as selling back to the original owners and founders several other breweries, citing profit losses or rather profit margins not meeting expectations and focusing

on their core brands. Now. Noticeably missing from the acquisition of the craft brewery brands were Goose Island, a Lesion, Four Peaks, Golden Road, Devil's Backbone, Carbock Brewing, Wickedweed, kna In a Mission which still remain in the Anheiser Busch portfolio. Now time will only tell and profits and sales what I'm assuming, will determine these decisions. But Anheiser Busch right now continuing

the trend of selling off low performing or low profit margin breweries. This is not to say, though, that these are unsuccessful brands, or that these brands will be closing or phased out, But rather they're being taken of off of one set of books within the Anheuser Busch portfolio and now absorbed in Canadian based till Ray Brands, which is a cannabis company. Now we saw this happen. Also, interesting enough, the another cannabis company purchasing Ballast Point.

We saw that happen for a while and then they turned around and sold that off. And cannabis company is getting more and more involved with alternative portfolios, mainly in the malt beverage category. So stay tuned, and we're gonna time will tell where Anheuser Busch goes next and how Canadian based Tilray Brands will handle things like Shock Top and Montauk and Green Flash and Alpine beers and brands that

craft brewers have known and loved. You notice that what all these brewers have in common Goose Island, a Lesion, Four Peaks, Golden Road, Devil's Backbone, Carbock, Wicked Weed, ConA Brewing, and Omission. What all those brewis have in common. They're performing. Yeah, those are meeting the profit expectations. Yeah, so they they're cutting the low hanging fruit here like all, let's whack this, whack that, whack this, but notably missing,

they're not gonna sell those because they're doing quite well. What I love about it, though, is AB did close. I believe it was two breweries that they purchased, two of the fifteen craft breweries they bought, but they allowed the founders to buy some of the other brands back, and this particular one, the Sweetwater parent company of Canada is buying eight brands. So those people and those companies keep their jobs. And that's what I like about

this story. AB. Well, of course AB is gonna go ahead and take the cash whenever they can, because they make nothing if they close the brewery, So smart move on their part, and time will tell if til Ray can maintain these brands and the profit margins meet their expectations. But its purchased by a cannabis company that which owns Sweetwater. Right, and Chad just brought up a good point that you see a lot of these cannabis companies,

for example Ballast Point. But here in Houston, Eighth Wonder Brewery and Distillery acquired by Bayou City Hip Company. Yeah, that's true, and they By the way, bonus bonus, breaking news. Molson Coors just purchased a boutique rum manufacturer, so they're adding to their portfolio as well. So yeah, interesting times we live in to see this big cannabis rise coming out. Because you know, eighth wondered they did a collaboration with they did a non alcoholic

seltzer infused with HEMP CBD. Because I don't know if people know this. I don't know if people know this, but any anytime CBDs involved, you can't have any alcohol, are any other one or the other one or the other. But was it? Yeah, yeah, you're right. So yeah, interesting news coming bouts. So we'll keep an eye on that. But I do want to switch gears here. We we do promote drinking worse hosibly. I mean, we wouldn't be on the air for ten years if we

didn't do so. I remember the first time we were gonna go to air, I got pulled in the PD's office and the PD told me that's program director. For those that didn't know. Program director looks at me the eye and says, all right, the second I tune into this radio program and you're slurring your speech or you sound like you're intoxicated, will be your last show. And I took that to heart. I took that to heart, and so I'm drinking little samples. Meanwhile, Bill and Chat or just not

gonna build dude, that's Bills carrying the heavy load here. I'm not doing that's most of the bill. That's mostly Bill. But I do drink responsibly here, but we encourage everyone to drink responsibly. But I did come across the story that is there anything better than a burger out on a night when you've had a little too much to drink? What about mozzarella sticks? Maybe

a leafy salad? Uh? Well? Someone used Google data to find the top drunken munchies in every state, and for most of the country, burgers we're number one. Chicken wings are second, followed by grilled cheese. So why are out there? You know you had a little too much to drink. What are you snacking on? Well, most people surveyed, we're stacking on burgers, chicken wings, and grilled cheese. New tailgate idea. Not that we're going to be drunk at the tailgate, but beer, cheese,

grilled cheese. Oh you're onto something. I'm onto something. Yeah, and then we could also do beer braised corned beef with it. Boom, that's our new ham and cheese right there, baby, All right, Like I said, drink responsibly. All right, we got an interview coming up. I hit the road and I went to a destination brewery. Find out who that is. What's on tap Radio? We'll be right back. Think all you want. We prefer to drink outside the box. You have good taste.

Hey, what's on tap? This is what's on tap radio? App look better from my tep right all right, welcome back to What's on Tap Radio where I'm expanding my music horizon. Here Travis caserk Hell's song Brewing, Columbus, Texas. Welcome to the radio show. Thank you. It's good to be here. So I always ask, I always have to ask. I'm like, when when you're brewing, you know, what do you listen to? But you said you like to kind of get your thoughts take over,

right, You've got a good thing. I can't. I really don't know. I just I'm very technical with brewing, and so I'd just like to be able to focus on it. So, you know, it's hard to say whether it's a good thing. But That's just how how I do it. I kind of how I feel like when I when I come up with my best ideas when I'm on the road or I'm in the shower. Yeah, it's strange. It's like and then like when I'm on the road, I usually have like a pin and pad I can just write stuff down.

But in the shower, I'm like, uh, And then when I got on the shower, I'm like, what was that good idea I had just had? It happens to me all the time when I run. I run a lot too outside of all this beer brewing, and I'll have the best thoughts when I'm out running and uh, and then I can't remember them later on most of the time. Well, I want to thank you. This has been a long time coming. People have been hitting me up.

Hey, Columbus, Texas and just this quaint little brewery. It's it's between San Antonio, Austin and Houston. A lot of people come in or it's a destination brewery. And I can't tell you how many people have sent me pictures. Have you heard of this brewery? And I'm like, a matter of fact, yes I have. Have you had them on? Unfortunately, not but until now. Thank you Travis for taking the time. I know you're in the middle of brewing. So how long is a how song have

been open? We've been open just over two and a half years. It'll be three years in November. So I'm doing my math here and that makes it the year that we really don't like to discuss. That's true. Yeah, we we didn't really have any options. I mean, we started back in twenty nineteen, wrote wrote the business plan and found the building and sold our house and then COVID here. Where were you living at the time. At the time, I was living in Colorado? So you moved here from

Colorado. We're in Colorado Fort Collins, Fort Collins of all places, which is pretty much like a beer mecca, right, so many great breweries. And you decided, okay, let's come to Columbus, Texas. Why Columbus Texas. Well, I'm from Weimer, which is just down the road. It's another another fifteen miles west, So you aren't living in Colorado thinking like, hey, let's just throw a dart in the dartboard and see where it lands. Oh, Columbus Texas, let's go right. Yeah, No,

I just wanted to bring it closer to home. I mean, we looked at stuff in northern Colorado, but just the more we developed the idea the brand, uh, it just made sense to bring it closer to home. And so being the fact that it is a brewery that's between Austin and San Antonio in Houston, which makes it a destination brewery, tell me what that's what that's like. Do you have a lot of regulars or is it more people just driving through. It's a mix of both. For sure. We

have a lot of regulars throughout the week and even on the weekend. But the weekends also are our time for a lot of folks coming through, like you alluded to, whether they're passing between Houston and San Antonio or Austin or whatever the case might be, they'll get off because they know that we're here.

And frequently we'll tell us they've never even considered that there was anything in Columbus, just except for a few gas stations, and so we'll get we'll get those folks off the off the highway and make them you know, uh, I guess fans from that point forward. But we do have a lot of locals as well who come in during the week who are regulars for trivia

or other events that we have going on. So so, yeah, definitely a mix that I guess you could say the regulars kind of keep us afloat from weekend to weekend, and then of course we do most of our business on the weekends, when it's a good, good, healthy mix. I do want to make a note that the fact that people may be tuning in there's a lot going on in the background. Yeah, that's because we are

in fact broadcasting here at hounds On Brewing Company in Columbus, Texas. Made the drive out here to catch up with Travis, and uh so if you here's some stuff going on in the background, that's because you are brewing right now. That's right. Yeah, you might hear some pumps in the background, a little bit of music. House On Brewing Company twenty. You guys been open almost three years. What have you learned in the in the first three years of operating a business man? It's a hell of a lot of

work. We've learned that you have to you have to keep you have to keep moving forward, you have to keep growing. I mean when we first opened, as you mentioned, of course, there was COVID, so there was a lot of pivoting. Pivot. Yeah, that word, it seems to be the buzzword of that year. That's right. Yeah, so we

had to do a lot of that. But but I've also learned a lot that you know, we we we've grown our tap room, we've diversified our tap list, we've expanded our tap list by putting in another bar with more taps. So I guess the short of it is is you gotta keep growing

or keep evolving is maybe a better way to put it. Not necessarily growth for the sake of growth, but just evolving to keep folks engage because at some point, you know, the beer's great, and that's awesome, but with over four hundred brewers in the state of Texas nine to ten thousand nationwide, you've got to offer a hell of a lot more than just the liquid. And so we kind of accepted early on that, you know, a given is that the beer will be good, and that was that was kind

of the lowest standard, was that the beer is gonna be good. And then from there we're gonna have to diversify and a bunch of different ways to get folks to want to come here. That's manifested in our kitchen, you know. Adding the kitchen, we have a PA system where we do live music all the time, put in a stage. We do different events in the community. We do like makers markets, all kinds of stuff just to just to get folks. You keep folks interested in wanting to be here.

So when you come out to Hounso Brewing Company again we're talking to Travis Kserk Hounso Brewing Company, you come for the experience, not for fel liquid or the food, but for the experience itself, right, And one of those experiences is the fact that you have this large area where you have bands.

Like I've seen you know breweries they have little stages on the side, but you actually have a separate room where it almost looks like you could rent it out for receptions or maybe college reunion, high school reunions, so forth. Absolutely, all of that. All the above. Now in regards to the music, we generally do live music every weekend, typically on Fridays, and

it's it's it's been something we've we've really grown to. Like, my wife wanted to put in a proper music venue because we're fans of music, and she wanted to support kind of singer songwriters, not just folks who only sing covers, which are fine, not to disparage them, but singer songwriters who are trying to make it. It's similar to us, you know, who share that grit, share that determination, the grind, the grind. Yeah, you see that a lot with musicians, especially when they're trying to get

up and going. And so we wanted to support that and bring something new and different to Columbus. And so that's you know, one thing that we've done here, and that's what kind motivated us to put in the proper music venue with the PA system and all that. So we touched we're talking about the music, we're talking about the liquid, the food. Tell me about the experience. Somebody walks into Houndsong. What can they expect when they walk

right into the front doors here. Well, ideally we want it to be a welcoming environment. We want folks to come in to see that it is a big, wide open space, it's well lit, people are friendly. When you walk in, you're greeted, and it's it's pretty easy to navigate. That that's a goal of ours as well. Both the tap room and the menu, whether the food or the beer menu, and it's approachable. That's another thing that's big for us is to be approachable, and we needed

that when we were opening in an area that didn't have a brewery. We're the first brewery and still are the only brewery in the county. And folks see craft beer, or at least did see craft beer as something from the city. It wasn't something that existed in Columbus or anywhere nearby. They would have to drive to the city for that. But we wanted to show them that it could be something that could exist in Columbus and something they could enjoy.

And to do that, we need to be friendly. We need to be approachable, and the beer styles also needed to kind of follow suit. Talk about the challenges that you've faced in the in the you know, the first couple of years, and how you've grown from those to come where you are now where it's a family friendly and what are this some of the challenges you face and how you overcame those. Well, I mean a big challenge has been honestly just you know, finding staffing has been really challenging out here

out in the country. We've got a lot of folks who live in the area who U commute to Houston or you know, to another area for work, and so, uh, in being that there's only about thirty six hundred people in Columbus, it's been a little bit challenging to to properly staff and so then you know, we're we're getting to a good place now. And that's taken some time, but we've just had to My wife, Raven and

I we've just had to fill the gaps. And uh, whether that's been her spending a lot more time than she cares to admit in the kitchen or you know, me roughing it in the in the brew house by myself for for for the first two years, in addition to running the business. You know, how we overcame it was was simply with that grit, you know, just having no other option, like this is what we're doing. You know. So Travis Cosik's our guest Houndsong Brewing Company, Columbus, Texas.

I got about a minute left. What is something that somebody needs to know about Houndsong that we hadn't touched on. It's not as far as you think. I think a lot of folks get the idea that, oh that's way out there. If you live in Katie you're thirty nine minutes away from from Houndsong according to according to Tom Paynter and some of you might know him, but yeah, thirty nine minutes down the road from from from our friends over

at No Label. You know, if you live in Katie, you would take just that long to go into the city to do something in downtown Houston, So we're not that far. We think it's worth trip. Awesome food, great beer, just a chill atmosphere and in the environment. That's what's really about. The environment. You're gonna come and you're gonna have a good time. That's right. Well, Travis, I wish you the best man three years. I can't wait to see where you guys are in three years

from now. Thank you. I appreciate it, and man, it's been a pleasure to be here and I'm glad we were able to finally make it happen. Yes, Travis Concerts our guest. We want to thank them and if you're ever in Allegan, Michigan,

another place where you can collect what's on tap radio High five. So, as we said, this is the last segment for the week. We've had a ton of fun. We've opened up some beers. Some of the beers didn't fall in love with on this particular show. There are things I can't believe brought my own rule. You broke your rules, I know. But James, I'll tell you what. Superior Past Control of West Michigan sent

me this story. So I want to thank them for They send the stories all the time, but this particular one scratched right where I hitched because we got into some food. And so we're gonna we're gonna wind down the show this week. We're gonna kind of put a bow on it by talking about some of the best of the best of things. And I'm thinking to myself,

you mentioned you know what breakfast foods. What are some of the best breakfast foods, things that you love to have, like maybe on a buffet or in All you Can Eat or just you know, I like restaurant. I like a nice eggs benedict, some fried bacon. That's my that's my ideal breakfast eggs Benedict. I don't get into the eggs benedict. But I love I love I love me some meat like that. I love that some protein protein, that's right, eggs protein, beat protein. What kind of

what kind of toast would you like with that? None? Just get that biscuit out of here. I don't want any of that French French. But I've never really I try not to think about my carbohydrates when I'm eating breakfast, because I enough carbohydrates during the day when I'm drinking beer. But what if I told you that, Ladies and Gentlemen, the world's best breakfast buffet may have the best of both worlds. And I'm going to tell you where

it is. Ladies and Gentlemen, the world's best hotel breakfast buffet. When you think of this probably includes scrambled eggs, sliced fruit, milk. Please tell me it's a strip club. It is not a strip club. No, everybody has their clothes on. But you will have to travel to the beach tower in Okinawa. It's only a forty minute ride from the airport, and when you get there, you will it is. It is a Japan

It's a mix of Japanese and Western style dishes. It's a buffet all you can eat, including things like goya chen peru which is stir fried, bitter

melon, gumi budo which is literally sea grapes, and taco rice. But there's also the fusion of American foods like breakfast burgers, and you can have all that you want there and it has all of your traditional Western fair with a fusion of Southeast Asia burg Yes, what's a breakfast It's just a burger with a fried egg on it. No, it's actually literally like a hamburger, but you get it for breakfast. So if you if you eat a hamburger for breakfast, it constitutes a breakfast burger. Oh okay, yeah,

yeah, yeah. I mean we don't call him supper burgers when we eat him at supper time, but they do call him breakfast burgers when you eat him a breakfast time. And the buffet has all you can eat steak James, all you can eat Okanawa rays, mutabou beef, and all kinds of other steaks that you want, and they come with different ojus and amazing and to round it all out, Yes, your breakfast buffet and Okinawa has a

self served draft beer machine and it's all the beer you can drink. So the Beach Tower Hotel in Okinawa is home of the world's best, or arguably the world's best breakfast buffet with all you can eat Asian Western fusion food, all you can eat steak, and all you can drink beer. And that's the best place to get your breakfast buffet bill. And I just booked our flight. James will see you there. We're on our way. Is it? What is it like an Asian custom to have like these breakfast buffets?

Because good friend of mine, Michael Garfield high Tech, Texan, does a radio show, went out to he went to Korea, okay, and I think they had like a Samsung thing and he took his video of this the spread for the buffet, and it was like one of the craziest things I've

ever seen. I don't know if that so, I've only been to China once, and I can tell you right now most of the stuff I could eat because when I looked at it, I think it was still mooing or clucking at me, and I was just like, I can't do this. Man. In fact, some of the stuff had eyes on it and it was looking at me. I'm like, I'm sorry, I didn't. I don't I'm not responsible for you being here, and I'm not gonna eat you.

But anyway, the thing is is you think about Las Vegas. Las Vegas has some of the most lavish buffets anywhere in the world for food, and Las Vegas has a lot of tourists from Southeast Asia. I'm thinking that Las Vegas and this is just a hypothesis that Las Vegas buffets got their inspiration from Southeast Asia. And I think maybe this is a thing. Uh, they're in that in that region of the world, that breakfast buffets are that

big of a deal. Dude, I love a good breakfast buffet. But I've been to a lot of breakfast buffets, but I don't think I've ever been to a breakfast buffet where's all you can drink beer? I know I haven't. All you can eat steak and all you can drink beer. Sign me up. But what are sea grapes? I don't know. Okay, you want to know what sea grapes are, I'll tell you exactly what grapes are you ready for this? This is exactly what they are because I have

it right here, ce grapes are umi buodho? Okay does that help? Apparently, no, it doesn't help, but literally is it's umi budo? Thank you? Chad? Yeah, that's right. It's like somebody says, I'm lost, Can you tell me where I am? And I give you the actual longitude and latitude coordinates, Like you're technically right, but man, you didn't help me. Yeah, you could give me a gas station or no. No, I got nothing right at the old supermarket. There the

piggoley wiggily and I'll be on the left. Yeah. Well, speaking of the best of James, what's the best beer? The best Beer City has been revealed for the third year in a row, The Best Beer City.
