Episode description

In this episode of the podcast Claire speaks with Prof. Helen Huntly, Provost and Vice President, Academic at CQU about the importance of regional universities to the people, businesses and communities they serve, as well as the challenges dual sector universities face because of the different policies, funding and regulatory arrangements in the higher education and VET sectors in Australia. Helen also shares some of the successes CQU has had despite these challenges.

After we recorded the conversation the Federal government launched an inquiry into the Perceptions and Status of VET which is seeking submissions: https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/House/Employment_Education_and_Training/VETInquiry
(submissions close 1 March 2023)

And the Federal government is also consulting on the design and implementation of their Australian Skills Guarantee election commitment: https://www.dewr.gov.au/australian-skills-guarantee
(submissions close 22 December 2022)
