Episode description

Although the name wasn’t given to the trade route until after its 18th-century demise, just the words ‘Silk Road’ bring to mind a daring adventure through unknown lands, encountering people from exotic cultures and far-off locales. The Silk Road, which began being traveled as early as the 2nd century BCE, would become instrumental in the trade of not only silk, but other textiles, precious gems, porcelains, and spices along an east-west route through most of the continent of Asia. Offshoots of the Silk Road would also take travelers through the Indian sub-continent, the Arabian Peninsula, and into Africa. ------ In part 2 we discuss some of the ideas the traveled the road, some of the famous people and groups that traveled the road, and the end of The Silk Road. ------ Follow What In the History on Fb, Instagram, and YouTube @whatinthehistorypod Follow Johnny Smith @stand up comedy, Johnny Smith Style Follow Dan Brady @dbcomedy814 on both Instagram and Facebook https://teespring.com/stores/what-in-the-history-podcast
