We were spared Ian's full force but those just south of us endured its full fury. Anticipating hurricanes or suffering their full force punctuate what we already experience daily - not as ferociously but no less real - trouble can overtake our lives. Health deteriorates, relationships languish, loved ones die, conflict abounds, jobs end unexpectantly, leaders fall, hopes fade, and people betray. At times trouble so overwhelms us that we think God has forgotten us as the writer of Psalm 77 questions: 'has God forgotten to be gracious?'
