Episode description

Debra Goldman began her career as a modern dancer in New York City. But after a couple of dance-related injuries, she shifted her focus to the field of dance and sports medicine and earned a B.S. in physical therapy from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Debra then returned to Manhattan and for 12 years she worked at orthopedic and sports medicine clinics in the financial district. She also created a practice with a focus on prenatal and postpartum issues, located in New York’s only free-standing midwifery-run childbearing center. That experience led Debra to immerse herself in her specialty and true professional passion: healing pelvic floor dysfunction.

In 2004, she launched Four Corners Physical Therapy in Florham Park, New Jersey, where she is dedicated to delivering skilled hands-on treatment and functional strengthening and movement to help support women’s bodies thru pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause and menopause. She is also a Master teacher of the Alexander technique and has dedicated years of study and practice to osteopathic manual medicine. Her own experiences as she navigated conception, recurrent miscarriage, fertility treatment and birth to her son Jack at age 41, inspire her dedication to trauma informed care.

Debra is proud to have been part of the inaugural group to receive certification through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute as a Pelvic Health Specialist. She enjoys educating and collaborating with other practitioners including local birth workers, and she is a passionate advocate for pelvic health for everyone who needs care.
