The Red Sox are a .500 team when Chris Sale doesn't start. Winless when he does. Josh explores this oddity and other strange truths about April 2019, which can't end quickly enough for the Sox. The two weekend losses to the Rays are recapped; Sale and Alex Cora both speak to the media; he Oakland series is previewed, injury updates are supplied.
Porcello is mellow and Chavis may save us. (Nothing rhymes with Boegarts but he's playing well too.) Sox make it two in a row and five out of seven with a 7-3 cakewalk over Detroit. Mookie's emerging, JBJ's looking better, Benintendi's suddenly a doubles machine, the bullpen is sizzling, etc. etc. Josh recaps the Thursday night win and rolls in post-game sound from Chavis and Cora. The rest of the homestand is previewed and a minor league no-hitter is celebrated.
Everyone got into the act Wednesday night vs the Tigers; even Dustin Pedroia from the bench. Eddie Rodriguez wins, JD Martinez gets back into the top five in the AL batting race, even JBJ hits a couple balls hard and no, he didn't step on a rake. The kids are all right, so to speak: A long Michael Chavis HR, some dazzling fastballs from Darwinzon Hernzndez, but losing twice to Detroit in one day was downright lousy.
