Father, it's a privilege to be with you today and to be before you as two sons, two sons of a good father. Thank you for your goodness. Thank you for your mercy and your grace. And thank you that we get to do this. We pray for our listeners that we're in this thing together. We're on the journey together and pray that you would order all of our steps into a lot of the details of our lives. In Jesus' name, amen. It's Wednesday
February 25th 2026 we get to do this. This is episode number 22 We get to do this well Well, welcome back and hello, brother. It's good to be back. It's been a minute. It has been three weeks. And you know that your podcast is making a difference when you come into church on Sunday and five different people, two of whom I have never met before said, hey, Are you and Pastor Jimmy going to do another podcast? Wow. Oh, that's so encouraging. Yes. Yes. I missed it. I really
missed it. James sitting over in the corner. He's like, where's the podcast? Where's the podcast? And that made me smile, man. That's cool. Yes. When people get used to it and it's not there. This is what you should remember. I'm used to it. And it bothers me when it's not there, when we're not doing it. No kidding. It really did mess with me. I did not like it. So apologies to the listeners for not being here. And we don't really have a way to communicate with them outside
of the show. So they're just like lost in space, twirling around and around and around. The first thing that happened was my fault because I had a guest appearance in Lake Wales, Florida. That's right. You and Damon had joined, Tina and myself. And y 'all got really sick right after that. Oh my gosh. Coming home on the plane, I started feeling weird. And I very rarely, you know me, I very rarely get sick. No, you're like me. It was like, eh, we'll just work through it. It's
not a problem. Yeah, shake it off in a day or two. But I started coughing on the plane coming back. Poor guy next to me, I felt bad for him, you know. I always think about other people, especially on a plane. You know, there's a trick if you have like three seats and you don't want anyone to take the middle one or the empty one. mask on and go, and people will walk right back past you. Felt bad for him. But yeah, I started coughing, got the tickle thing and I didn't think
much about it. And then we got home and by the time we got, of course we were tired too, it was late, been a long weekend. We had no real break. We just kind of went, went, went. And by the way, you crushed it. Thank you. Giving your testimony three times in a row. had the entire sermon portion of three services. That's a big deal, brother. I'm more proud of you than that, that I am talking about me being sick.
I mean, I'm good now. I'm over it. So, Pastor Jack Hillegos, who runs High Point Church in Lake Wales, who we've been in touch with multiple times. There's a Steve Maxwell connection. And he also became a, we say, partner instead of customer in the Christian world. In Christian radio, there were partners with them. It's the weirdest thing of a Godcaster. And so they were launching their version of Hello Fred, which
is Providence Voice. And he had asked when he was out here visiting with a couple other pastors, must have been a few months ago, he said, hey, how about we launch this on Super Bowl Sunday and would you come and give your testimony? We were all hanging on a backwards barbecue. No problem. So a couple weeks before the date rolls around, he's like, hey, I'm just checking. I can't back out of this now, which is also, it's a show day. So I had to take a show day off.
Did you know at that time that he wanted you to take all three services, like the whole thing? That's a big deal. I kind of thought about it. But it didn't really hit me. I was like, okay, I've got to do something. Off in the future, you're not overthinking it. I get it. Exactly. 35 minutes. I can talk about myself for 35 minutes, which of course immediately be like, no, your testimony, man, you got to talk about God. Oh, wow. Yeah, I got to think about this. I can't
just be telling my life story. No, I can't just wing it. Had a pretty stressful week a full week before that Sunday because I'm very linear It's like I can't if I got something tomorrow I it's hard for me to work on the thing for a week after that I have to do it like linear really had And I probably would have normally done this just two days before but I started a week before and I was like, oh man This is not gonna be as easy.
I thought it was and I want it to be entertaining You know, I wanted to Because I have the great fortune of being saved later in life, I can look back and say, okay, God, here's the path that I've been put on. I think this is where I need to go now. I'm just trying to pay attention. So I'm like, oh, yeah, I'll just do that. And you and Annette were so kind, like, we'll come with you guys. We'll be there for moral support. Yeah, I want to be there to support you and cheer
you on. And man, that really made a difference because I was up there and I'm looking over to the right and like, yeah, there's my squad, man. There's my squad. And I see Tina with big eyes like, what is he going to say? Is he going to mess it up? Is he going to say something wrong? But props to pastors, man, doing this for three services back to back with a meetup in between. It's a lot. That, yeah, it is a lot. It is a
lot. And just to get the energy going, you know, the energy, like, okay, I got to have the same energy. It's a new crowd. What worked in the previous one? Because it's still a performance, you know. You're on. You're on. That's the right word. You're on. You're just on and you can't turn it off. But I think I kind of, it was kind of the same each time. Oh, you did great. I want to brag on you a little bit because, man, I'm just proud of you. First of all, it was entertaining.
You were yourself. I love that you were you had your humor. You're amazing humor, which I love It's first thing I when I met you as I we're gonna be for sure But you had that but you also brought some multimedia I mean you had some some media elements in their video clips headbangers ball back, you know back in the day super cool and But you also brought Jesus. You brought the gospel. You brought your heart and how you came to know Christ. There was something for everybody
in that. Literally, I wouldn't change a thing about anything you said. I wasn't even listening critically. I was cheering you on, totally there as a friend and a brother. After the first one, I was like, I hope he does exactly the same thing because that was so good. And you did. You did it. You nailed it every time. Always, every crowd's different. It's always a different dynamic. No two groups are the same. So things land different. You found that out. Things land different with
different groups. And so it always kind of keeps you on your toes a little bit. You can't turn it off. You can't coast. The scariest moment is when you have something, because I have, you know, we all have a hundred, they're your Jimmy -isms, you know, we all have our little things that we'll throw in there. You know, it's like, do you know what the word always is in Greek? You know what that means? Always. I mean, this
is a classic. And so for me to say we left Austin to reenter the great state of Texas and to let that sit for a few seconds and then, oh man, did that completely fall flat? And then you hear people starting to chuckle and like, okay, I've got them. Because what I always felt is, If you can get an emotion going in someone, then their minds are wide open for message. So I always want to follow laughter by, I'm injecting something here. I'm injecting scripture or a thought that
is relevant. And that's, that is how I structured it. And I thought, wow, I really do not want to have to do this for a living. It's like, I like my studio, my, my dim lighting. That's much more, much more vibe. I do like the vibe. I love the vibe in here. We got all lights down. We got some color lights going and we do. I love it too. There were two huge moments for me there. One was after the first service, Pastor Jack, he said, okay, we've got to go meet some people.
Maybe it was that second service. We've got to meet some people in between. After the second one he said, you've got to meet this boy David. He just came to me and said he's ready to be baptized. He's ready to completely give himself to Jesus. Young kid, maybe 22, 23. And I'm like, that's why I'm here for him. And it turned out after one of this, I don't remember which one, A woman came by and said, I'm 87 years old, but after hearing your testimony, me and my husband
have renewed our faith. Wow. 87. Come on. And that just made me feel so different from anything else in the past. You know, if I did great shows or whatever in the past, yeah, it was like, yeah, you were awesome. That was fun. OK, that's great. But that was the reward. That was it. You're getting a taste of why I love what I do. That's why I tell people I get to do this. It's not a cliche for me. You know, people say things all the time and they say it becomes rote. And
then it's like a cliche. This is not a cliche. When I say I get to do this, I mean it. You mean it. Yeah. I really do. Well, it's the same with our show here. Absolutely. I mean, we're texting two days ahead of him. Can't wait to catch up. Looking forward to our time. And then we try not to talk too much. Exactly. Because it would have been easy because I wanted to know all about the NRB. I want to know. I've got questions. And they don't have to be for the show. They
happened in the show great. To me, almost everything is good for the show. We talk about God, the world, and other things. There you go. And I just recalled, I'm so sorry. Remind me, Jody White, one of our listeners, sent two jars of pickles, sweet. and spicy pickles. Wow, cool. And one for you, one for me. We ate that first jar almost in one sitting. You weren't going to tell me. I bet you wrestled with that. Yes.
I'm not going to tell Jimmy. She emailed me and said, hey, what do you think of the pickles? Both Tina and I have a hard time looking at Jimmy's jar. Jimmy's jar might have broken in transit or something. I don't know. But remind me to give that to you. Jody, thank you so much. Thank you, Jody. They're from Louisiana. I think they're amazing. Spicy and sour and sweet all in one. Anything food from Louisiana is always good. It's always good. That's cool. So anyway, so
well done. I just wanted to get that out there. I want to make sure I put a bow on that, because I was so proud of you and that and I both. We did not regret one iota in terms of giving up a Sunday here to come. Thank you so much. Hang with you guys. It meant a lot, brother. It did life with you. It meant a lot. Well, I mean, it's a marker for you. I can't not be there for a marker. Man, this is a big deal. True. So yeah, proud of you. Super proud. And also the four
of us. We travel very well together. That's true. There's never a hassle. No one's really stressed about this. There's no drama. We'll see you tomorrow. Yeah, whatever. We'll figure it out in the morning. No one's on schedules. Even though we had to get it pretty early the next day to get to church on time. We did. And we love traveling with you guys because there's always something fun. There's a lot of... It feels like the Holy Spirit's always with us. There's always a highlight, a special
moment. For me, it was when we went to that restaurant that night. Remember the restaurant? They just waited on us hand and foot because there was nobody else there. Everyone had checked out in the morning. They all just came and they hung out with us and got to know them. That was just one of those... You look back on our trip, you go, that was special. It was. That was really meaningful and great food. Yes. Because it was my birthday, they brought me some macaroons.
I was like happy. Here we go. Yes. All good. So then inexplicably, both you and Annette get, and we, I mean, I recall you even tasting Tina's drink. You know, it's like nothing we didn't get. She's a germaphobe, so I bet she's going, oh my God, she drank my drink. Believe me, in the past three weeks she said, Jimmy even drank from my drink and we haven't gotten anything. So I don't know what that was. It's going around. There's a lot of people who have this. Yes, but
it's like the 2017 flu. There was a bad flu then. And I'm just thinking, man, if you're... you know, we're getting up there, we're in our 60s, you know, you get up to your 80s, it can take you out. And it took you guys out. I mean, we had our people from the church were bringing you guys food. That's how bad it was. It was, it was rough. I don't ever remember being sick like this. Wow. You know, I got COVID early on when it happened. It was just, that was a cold
on steroids. I mean, it wasn't that big a deal. Right. It just, it fatigued me, but Seven days later, I'm back in the gym. So, right? No big deal. This was a full two and a half weeks, probably. Full on flu. So, what it does, it's influence A, and you fight that off, but then you get this secondary infection, that's chest, and it drops down into, and boy, when it gets into those bronchials, which it did, that's when it gets rough. So,
we thought we were getting better. Then that secondary part kicked in, and I read about that. It even said, watch for secondary infections. Wait for that to happen. It actually was very textbook. I talked to a lot of people in the church. Of course, people were reaching out when they found out we were sick. They were saying, yeah, same thing. It took me three weeks to get over it. Now I go, what? Three weeks? So I'm right at three weeks, and I'm back. Yeah, you
are. I can see you're completely back today. Now, if I hack a little bit here, I'll try to get off my... But Sunday, in a net state home, I was looking at you. I'm like, okay. And you say, yeah, I'm a bit of a tunnel vision. I'm like, oh, man, I know how that feels when you got to speak and you have that tunnel vision. But you just rammed through it. Thanks, brother. Impressive. Thanks. Totally impressive. I mean,
I love doing what I do. So even if I didn't feel great, I felt like the Holy Spirit took it and landed it. And the feedback has been amazing from that message. And it's helping people. That's what I'm excited about. You're so good at explaining. When you get into the identity in Christ, I urge everyone to go take a look at the service from last Sunday. I don't know how much you had that mapped out, because you were just rolling at
a certain point. It's from the heart. When something's impacted you deeply, just like you've given your testimony, while it was work for you, you still, you had something to say. You have a message. And when you have a message, you're not trying to come up with a message. If you have one, it just comes out of your heart. It comes out of your life. So this idea of when you know who you are, you'll know what to do and you'll know
how to do it. That's just huge for me. And so anytime I go back and pick that teaching up, something comes alive in me, even when I'm, you know, even though it looked like seven miles of bad road. I was wiped out. But I felt great in terms of just being able to deliver that. We're continuing through this series in Colossians and it just gets better and better. I was looking at what I'm going to do. Not this weekend. We've got Reagan Green preaching this week. Oh, really?
Oh, this is his first time? Yes, first time in a pulpit, but we'd already had him scheduled because we thought I was going to be flying to Israel. That's another story. So since we're not going to Israel, half of the group is. We split the group into two groups. We'll be going later in the year. We already had him scheduled and I could pull a plug on it. This is a big deal for him. Especially since I know what it's
like now. You're getting ready for that for weeks and then you're prepping and you're nervous. So before we get into the Israel trip, I want to remind us that one of our listeners, Joel I believe, he was emailing back and forth with you about what is meant by support for Israel. Right. I forget it was Joe. Joe Rojas, I think. I believe that's right. Yes. Yeah, it is. Good
guy. And so we didn't get to talk about this after you had this exchange, but I think it's critical we bring everybody up to speed on what you realize and the words that matter and what words are saying so people understand. Great. You're always saying Psalm 122 verse 6. Interesting. Pastor Brian says Psalm 121 verse 8. I don't know what he's talking about. I just noticed
that. I know I'm on point on the reference. So if you could kind of explain what Joe was asking and what he was taking issue with and what you figured out there. Legit questions he was asking. I really appreciated that. But he was asking for clarity on that because of this idea of supporting Israel. And that word carries a lot of weight. Now, when I say it from a, jokingly say, a professional Christian standpoint, you know, because Christianese, we have our own language, we have our own lingo
because it's a culture. When I say support, I'm talking about standing with, I'm talking about praying for, but that could also be the connotation is, oh, you're sending money to the government. you believe in everything they're doing. You support all the government's decisions. Yeah, right, right. I don't even do that for America. So, it dawned on me as I was writing him back and explaining, really, all we're talking about is praying for them. We pray for them every Sunday,
according to Psalm 122 verse 6, not 121 .8. Because that's a mandate from scripture, and it's in alignment with God's heart for his people to come to Christ. to come to the Messiah. So for me, I was using those words interchangeably, support and prayer. To me, they mean the same thing. But I realized in exchanging emails with Joe that that's not what everybody thinks. And it made me realize, OK, I just need to clean
up my semantics on this a little bit. So I actually shared that with the church on Sunday to let them know. And I felt the room relax. Very interesting dynamic. because there is this idea that, oh, if we say we support America, I don't think people think I'm sending money to Donald Trump or, you know, but the word support can mean financial, you know, you're giving stuff. The only thing we support in terms of Israel is we support a
ministry called Behold Israel. And the goal of that ministry is to evangelize Israel, to share Jesus as Messiah. with them. So we support that. That's how we indirectly support Israel's through that. People are really trying to slice and dice, you know, it's like, well, what do you mean the biblical Israel, the state of Israel? Take all that off the table. The Bible, the word of God says Israel. So whatever God thinks Israel is today is good for me the way I see it. It's amazing.
So when you say, well, I support the United States, I support our government, you get labeled. This is the big thing now. You would be a Christian nationalist. You support Israel, you are a Christian Zionist. And these labels are just ridiculous. Even the label Christian is kind of questionable. I'm a disciple of Jesus. I'm a Jesus freak. I'm a follower of Jesus. You can put whatever label you want on me, but it's not accurate. Because
a label is not your identity. It's how someone else identifies you, but it's not your true identity. So when someone says, oh, you're this or that, I'm like, no, I'm a son of God. I'm a son of the Most High God. I have a good father. I'm a King's kid. I'm a King's kid. I'm royalty, baby. I haven't tried that one yet, but it's coming. I wouldn't do that out loud. It's more
like between friends. But really there's a sense where, because we really are sons and daughters of the Most High, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, so it shifts your perspective on how you look at life and how you walk in a room. You don't walk in proud. you walk in just knowing my dad's something, you know. My dad, I'm proud of my father. And that gives me Christ's confidence, not self -confidence. So I bring this up in regard
to the trip. We were going to go to Israel. Actually, Tina and I would have been leaving today to go to Amsterdam first. And even me just saying on no agenda, I mean, the, and of course we make jokes about this, but it's like, oh, Oh, you're supporting this horrible government. You're going, you know, I wonder what changed. I wonder who's, who's given you money. I'm like, yeah, I'm going
to go get most bags of Mossad money. I mean, the whole thing is hilarious, but it, it is just the, there's an operation underway which ties a couple of things together. Which really all comes back to the Epstein files it all comes back to that which I think the president was right It's like how we really don't want to release this and by the way, this could have been released even under Obama These files were available But
okay, we had to release it. And so this is now spun into I've just followed the track Israel controls all of our government. Not true, obviously. I mean, I there's there's actually very few Political people in the United States in the Epstein file a lot of British ones funny enough and you know this whole misunderstanding of what a pack is and How much money the United States is sending
to Israel? They're not really sending it. We're sending a a gift card that says you can buy ten billion dollars worth of our military stuff and the reason for that is it's our it is always been since the 70s, our outpost in the Middle East, which is about three and a half weeks of SNAP benefits just to put it into perspective. But people don't have all this. And then it's like, well, OK, so clearly Israel controls everything. And now it's moved into the billionaires. Oh,
the billionaires are all horrible. They're all bad. And if you support billionaires, then you're A horrible person because they are all working with Trump therefore vote Democrat Wow, and this is literally being said like when we're back in control We the Democrat Party all those companies that worked with the president Which as far as I can tell is working to create jobs and bring manufacturing back to America They will find out that they were on the wrong side of history.
So this this whole thing is being spun into the most un -American thing I've ever heard of, which is hating people for being successful. And that to me is the travesty because it has always been my experience in America. You could look at the guy with the Rolls Royce and say, I could actually get that if I want to. This is America. If that's
what I wanted. Memo from Adam who's been there done that it ain't all that Turns out King Solomon was right It all is vanity and it really doesn't make you happy at the end of the day so we were going to go to Israel and You know you and I had been talking and you know, there's all kinds of stuff ratcheting up with with Iran right now, which and I I'm I'm pretty sure it's not about nuclear weapons per se, but there's a lot of actors in the Middle East and a lot of things
going on. And I was talking to Sir Brian of London, who lives in Tel Aviv. And the thing that concerned me the most about this trip at this time was fear of fear itself. Air raid sirens go off now. In the middle of the night, we were going to have some older people with us. I personally had a vision of, here's Adam and Jimmy running around in their pajamas trying to make sure everybody's safe and that people aren't panicking and rushing around. And I think you took some of that into
account. And then we decided that we should probably postpone, at least for people who wanted to, to a later date. Right. So we had a group, in about half the group, Said that they wanted to go ahead and go and that it was a calculated risk and they were glad to do it Yeah So Brian and his wife pastor Brian and his wife are gonna lead that grip group And then we split the group and whoever wanted to go on the second trip Which
would be in October can go with us, right? Interesting enough nearly every Person that's going on the first group is single. Oh really? Yes Okay, very interesting all of that single crowd. They were talking together and they said, you know what? Let's go. So they're excited. We've been praying for them, praying with them, and they're going to go. And we have peace about waiting. And the couples, it's mostly couples that are going on the second trip. And many of them have reached
out to me and said, thank you. Felt like it was a wise decision. And so everybody's happy. And everybody's excited. And now we have two groups going. And it actually opens it up for more people to go with us. To jump in on the second trip. Yes. Very good. Very good. In fact, Randy Breyland, his wife. Oh, really? So yeah. So I talked with him yesterday. Is he going to have time between that and being our new mayor? Being our new mayor, which we need to elect him to be. I'm going to
say that out loud. We have to have him on the podcast. Absolutely. Absolutely. He's such a good guy. Man, he's sharp. Such a heart after God, heart for family and our community. He's the real deal. And he's been council member for a while. And I was talking to him, he said he prayed about it for a couple months, I think, before he decided. He didn't take it lightly. I want to tell you something about prayer I want to share with everybody. So my daughter is now
20 weeks pregnant. We've seen the latest echo, the latest, they call it echo in Europe. What do you call it? When they scan... The gram, the something gram, the... Sonogram. Sonogram. Thank you. This has been a minute since I've done this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So they call it echo in Europe. And she, we can now reveal, I'm going to have a granddaughter. She has very long legs. So, yep. I wonder where that guy came from. Right
in the family. but they were living in a one -bedroom apartment in Rotterdam, where there is a shortage of 400 ,000 homes. And there's a whole bunch of reasons for that. We've been praying for them about this. I have networks, I have lawyers, I have accountants, I have people in show business, people in sports, some people who come from... darker sides of the tracks, but you know, are good people and they're always
willing to try and help with something. I mean, I was throwing out everything from my whole past life and everything's come up, like our cab taxi, Eric, the driver, he's like, he's kind of like in between me and the dark side. You know, some of these cab drivers, they know stuff. And everyone's coming up empty. And I just kept telling Christina, my daughter said, look, we're praying. Every day, morning, noon, and night, we're praying
that God finds the right thing for you. And in my own prayer, I was saying, God, I know you have the right plan. And it may be that you want them, you know, to have this child in this one -bedroom apartment. I'm okay with that. And I completely, this is probably one of the first times in my prayer life that I just like, because I'm dad, you know, like I'm supposed to be able to fix this. No amount of money or influence.
Nothing could fix this. And seriously, the network that I still have access to, these people can make stuff happen that is just physically not available. And so I had really given it to God. And I told Christina that I said, trust God, trust Him. Even if this is what it is, and you're going to have to have the crib in your bedroom or whatever it is, trust Him. And three and a half weeks ago, all of a sudden, Her landlord of her current apartment says, hey, we've got
a place. It's a house with like multiple floors, three bedrooms, a little garden in a lovely little old school Rotterdam street with Rotterdam families who still look out for each other. And I just said, this is what I'm talking about. Nice. This is what I'm talking about. And so when your kid says prayer answered, She's still prodigal, but to me, it was like, God, thank you. Not just for the house, but I wanted to see it. I wanted to see that this is how it works. A come through
moment. Much better than she's even been looking for. I mean, a three bedroom house? This is unheard of. Unheard of. In a beautiful neighborhood where the neighbors can look after your kid. Love that. Praise Jesus on this one. Is she continuing to work up until? Yeah, she'll work pretty much until 10th month, I guess. Yeah, she's in healthcare. So, of course, the healthcare for her is really good because she's in healthcare, so she has
great, great healthcare. Just because it's socialist and they say healthcare is free doesn't mean all the healthcare is great. It's great, right. It's a farce. Because she's in the system. Because she's in the system. Yeah, she works in the system. Good for her and Kevin. Yeah, happy for both of them. And that's another thing. That's a great thing. I was like, you know, because when your kid is sad and she's halfway around the world, like, Lord, can you lift her up? And what came
back to me was, that's Kevin's job. It's true. I didn't even think about that. It is. That's right. It is. Leave and cleave. There you go. That's the scripture. Leave your father and mother. You don't keep the umbilical cord attached. You literally let them stand. What scripture is that? Do you know offhand? No, I don't. Disappointing. Disappointing pastor. It's classic. It's classic marriage structure. Leave and cleave. Leave and cleave. That's beautiful. That's nailing it right
there. They will leave their father and their mother and they will cleave to their spouse. And so that's what they're doing and we have to let them do that. Glad you brought that up because I heard Josh Howerton, Pastor Josh, up in the Dallas Fort Worth area talking about that as well. Parents, we've got to let them go. You've got to take your hands off. We love them. We're there for them, but we can't helicopter them the rest of their lives. We can't be that helicopter
parent. And I've been pretty good about that, but now it's not. It's my grandkid is in there and I want to be doing stuff and I want to... But you're right. It's Kevin's role now, just like it's for our two daughters. It's Mark's role and Brandon's role. And we're there to help them if they ask, but we don't interject. The help usually comes in financial ways. Hey, I'm a little short. Yeah, there's that. Yeah, we have to move next week. We need movers. Can you
help us out? Oh my gosh. So I came up quick then. So once it happened, it happened. They'll be in there in three days, and they'll be in there and painting and doing stuff. Luckily, Kevin's dad is still pretty agile, so he can help with some of that stuff. Good. But it was prayer answered, and it was really, really nice. Love it. I'm very happy for them. Man, hey, I can check that off my list. Everybody who's been praying for their home, thank you. You can take it off the
list. It's going to be great. Beautiful. Love it. Let me see. I think I had a note here that I wanted to share from Kenny. Wanted to reach out. I guess he had reached out to me before. Oh yeah, here it is. In March of 2023, he reached out to you about why you had recently become a Christian. You recommended two books to me. You know what they are. The Case for Christ, actually, by Lee Strobel and Evidence that Demands
a Verdict by Josh McDowell and his dad. I read them and amongst a few other things led me to accepting Christ in May of last year. I joined a church and was baptized on Father's Day last year. I also started school at Liberty University short after that, majoring in biblical studies and Christian apologetics. I plan on moving that straight into seminary when I graduate next spring. And he started a podcast called Practical Apologetics.
All of the glory goes to God, but I believe that had you not recommended those books to me, I would still be agnostic slash atheist today. Thank you again. God bless from Kennedy. That is amazing. What's his name? Kenny. Kenny. Wow. Congratulations, Kenny. Man, talk about exponential growth. That's amazing. What a beautiful thing. I'm proud of him and for him. This is why we don't look at stats. of the podcast. Just look at what's happening around us. We throw this
thing out there. We trust God that it'll land where it needs to land and it'll land on the hearts that need to hear it. And we trust that. So I was in Nashville, because you don't have a lot of stories because you were just in bed and sick at home for two weeks. I do have something to ask about your journey the past two weeks. I was in Nashville. for the National Religious Broadcasters Conference, where you're in the Gaylord Hotel. It's the biodome. Everything is
artificial, artificial air. Nice people. They're real, I think, but artificial. We went to that steakhouse with my partner Gordon. It's like the last night before, because we were just kind of grab and go and do whatever. And we had planned, we'd made reservations, have a nice meal at the steakhouse. Brother an eight ounce fillet Seventy dollars. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me now? Yeah, I mean we didn't have dessert.
We were so mad about these prices for prices anyway Wow, but there were a couple of events and one of them was the Salem radio network breakfast and They had that interview With Bill Abbott you talked about this on Sunday in the in the culture report now He used to be with the Hallmark Channel, right? He left I think in 2022 or something because they really wanted to move towards Well, we have some, you know, LGBTQ friendly programming and same sex marriage. He's like, no, I'm not
really on board with that. And he'd been there for a long time and he left. And he was the CEO of Hallmark. Yeah, he was the Hallmark, the channel. Yeah, he was the CEO of the channel. He said, no, that just doesn't align with me. And if that's the direction you guys want to go, that's fine. But I'm out. And so he started Great American Media Company. They acquired Pure Flix and he spoke and he was talking about this slate of
new programming that they have. And what to me was important was he said, people who want to finance this stuff says they're lining up because they see the writing on the wall and they see that people want this type, this type of entertainment. They want it to be good stories, you know, which, and this is where I get to you and Annette staying home. you know, family -friendly. And it doesn't mean that it has to be all sappy and stuff, but there's a lot of topics that, you know, they're
just going to avoid. And as Tina and I are, you know, we finished all of our royalty shows, you know, the history of the crown and all that. And we're looking around and, brother, everything is messed up. There's not a single thing that appeals to us. And I have some thoughts about that, but you guys actually got rid of all the streaming stuff that you felt was not adding anything to your life. Exactly. Annette had this epiphany one night. She said, I'm tired of this.
I'm tired of compromising. And I'm tired of having to say, well, it only has this many, you know, gay couples, or it only has this many cuss words, or it only has this many sex scenes. She said, this is not helping me. And she said, I don't think it's helping us. And I'm not a big TV guy, so I'm like, hey, cut it all off. I don't care.
Throw the thing out the window. And she said, so I'm going to, I'm going to, and by the time we got from, it was a Wednesday night, by the time we got home, she had already on her phone, deleted or, Cut off every streaming thing we had except we did have the great American, you know pure flakes. Mm -hmm And she cut everything else off. So wait, so there's no more CSI. No, not right now. We're just like nah Wow, don't
need it. So I was hard cut I was super happy about this because I I like sometimes not turning the TV on at night and just reading an actual book. That's not been in her world though. Her attachment and addiction to TV was that that was the only thing her and her father had in common. So there's a real deep rooted thing there. So for her, it's a nostalgia thing in a positive
way. I grew up, and I don't know about you in West Texas, but people my age, it was a thing after dinner and after, you know, cleaning up and everything, then we'd sit down as a family and watch Little House on the Prairie, Love Boat, Kung Fu, you know. Trent Skelton. I mean, come on. Samford and Son. Yeah. I mean, they were all and we'd watch them. It was a family activity. It was. We'd be laughing and, you know, and talking together about it. I don't think it's that at
all anymore. But so I think maybe a lot of us boomers and Gen Xers boomer adjacent, like myself, still have some of that in us. No doubt. That that was a connection for us with family. No doubt. Yeah. So when we had Faith, you know, we adopted Faith after our two oldest had just graduated from high school and starting into college. So we sort of started over. We got to
do over. And Faith and I watched shows together a lot, like all the... you know, Megamind, all the movies, all the Pixar movies, you know, Toy Story 2. Power Rangers? Not so much, a little bit here and there. But we watched all these shows together. And so I was able to process life in real time through media, through watching these shows. And to this day, we laugh about those shows. There'll be a nostalgia thing forever for us. But that was sort of how I grew up. With
the family watching Manix. Manix, Colombo, Ironsides. Exactly, all of those. We did that together. I really did love Little House on the Prairie though. I still don't think about that. I like that story. It was always good. It is a great show. And they dealt with real issues in that show. It wasn't all squeaky clean. I mean, they had life issues. Paw, there's a storm coming. The Waltons. The Waltons, another one. Oh yes. But I agree with you. So we just made a decision.
And so, but what we found out is that not only is there Pure Flix, which is Great American, There's also the Up network, which is faith and family. And that's all positive. And they take some shows that... that maybe aren't necessarily Christian, but they have a positive message. And you can tell they bleep over the words, but they don't bleep them, they like fill in something. And I noticed that on the show last night. Where they filled it in was like forever. Yeah, it
was kind of a just moved past something. And of course we had the closed captioning on, you know, and it made it just, it was kind of a warbled thing. Like it was non -intelligible. And Annette goes, oh, do you see what they just did there? I said, oh, yeah, they did. And it wasn't even a really bad word. But anyway, I love that. So we watched a movie last night that was a Western that had a ledge to it. It wasn't your typical Christian movie. But they had fixed it where
it was OK. We enjoyed it. It was a great story. So then there's the other one, The Wonder Project. So those are three networks. We had to subscribe to that in order to see House of David. It was an Amazon hook. Yeah, that's how we got onto it. The only other thing we have, we do have Amazon Prime because that's just going to always be there. But we can be selective. So it has been really good for us to watch things that feed our heart and our spirit. And they're not
all Christian. Some of them is just good movies, just positive, life -giving, hope -filled. To me, that's legit and wonderful. So anyway, this has been a good experience for us. We're finding ourselves going to bed at night, peaceful. Not all worked up, stirred up, watching murders and slice and dice and all that. I come from the front line from last night, and Adam is like, oh yeah, we'll get that. Tina's always saying, do we even know we're subscribed to? He said,
no, I just want to have anything. I don't want to have to bother with it and we'll get it all. And so we're, we actually, there's three new episodes of Paradise and which came back and you had, you had watched up to that point and we're watching this and we're like, this guy is stressful. You know, even though it's exactly what we knew it would be. So, okay, it's stressful.
And and we watch that and then we're looking around and every first of all when streaming came in this is the same thing that happened with Sirius XM radio the minute you no longer have to worry about FCC rules for profanity it's the rails are off the rails are off and people feel like oh now we've got it we got to be like everybody talks well memo not everybody curses every fifth word except I used to, I'll be honest about that. I was definitely, the F word was
a big one for me. I didn't even realize it. And so we're just trying to find something and it's all drama about murder, about death, about apocalypse. Like, no, we're trying to find something else. Then it's all about adultery. And it's like, no, no, I'm really not interested in that. And we're talking about this, like this, and Tina kept saying, you know, Jimmy and Nat, you know, they've gotten rid of everything. I'm like, I
hear you. And we, and so we see something and it's called, I think it's God's favorite idiot or chosen idiot. And it's Melissa McCarthy and actually her husband, they both play in this, in this, it's like eight, eight episodes, short episodes. Yeah, like, you know, I think it was one in 2022, one, one season, it didn't come back. And the premise is kind of nice. It's like God chooses this one guy and he now has to preach
the gospel. And so right off the bat, you know, he's throwing out Matthew and all, and he's like, I don't know where this came from. Oh, this is interesting. But, and everything was kind of good throughout these episodes. We watched almost everything in one go. It was just so quick to go through. But every five minutes there was a GD, a Jesus, a G's. I'm like, what is the point? And to the point where I'm thinking, I don't even want to finish this because I don't know
what their conclusion is going to be. But it was so unnecessary, just unnecessary. It adds nothing to it. And specifically those words. Specifically. I'm like, Whenever someone says, Jesus Christ, I say, amen. That's right, Lord and Savior. And you got to look back at you like, huh? Joe Rogan's big on that. No, he'll say, Jesus. I say, amen. That's right. It's my man right there. Just try to put it in a different way. It's a good spin on it. You got to put a
spin on it. But garbage in, garbage out. You texted that to me this morning and it is so right. I mean, it's just not beneficial. It really isn't. I did an illustration one time in a church and I had a five gallon was big Hygiea bottles, you know, five gallon of water, full of pure water. I opened the top of it and I picked the biggest guy, big military guy and I said, Hey, would you come take a drink of this water? And he saw me open it up. And so I poured a little, you
know, and he took a drink of it. Well, then I took, I had a dropper and I had some putrid water. And I mixed up some like Nyquil and medicine and just junk. And I put one drop in there and I said, Hey, come back, take a drink of that. He goes, I ain't drinking that. I said, it was only a drop in five gallons, one drop. There's no way this will hurt you. He goes, I ain't drinking it. I mean, he literally was like, no way. I love you Pastor Jimmy, but no, I'm not going
to come drink that. And the illustration's obvious, right? It just took one drop. to ruin the whole thing. Where he was like, I ain't touching that. Knowing full well probably won't hurt me, but I ain't taking that risk. And so the point is, is that it doesn't take much to taint something and to poison it. And that was the conclusion Annette had come to. I came to this a while back, but I let her roll because I know it's important. It's that nostalgia thing for her and I just
don't fight it. But the fact that she came to that conclusion herself, and she even said, I don't really want to tell anybody about this. I am blabbing it out on the air. But she was like, it's just a decision I want to make for myself and us together. It's personal. And so we go to bed very peaceful now. We go to bed lifted up. And even talking about the movie we just watched about, wow, I really like the way they handled that or the questions that brought
up. been watching a series and it's about divorce and all that. It's a Christian show, faith -based, but they're talking about the challenges that the kids are going through now. One of them lost theirs to a divorce, the other one lost theirs to death. The mom died. They're going through all the dynamics of pain and grief and sorrow. how the kids are acting out now and they're doing stuff they shouldn't be. One of the dad was an alcoholic, now his Christian son is sneaking
alcohol. And that's how he's numbing because that's what he saw his dad doing. I love that they're taking that head on. And it's a pastor's family. So it's really cool. Up network, I got to look at that one. Yeah, it's up faith and family. And again, that one's not as blatantly I'm sure there is stuff on there, but they take shows and just sort of take the edge off of it.
Also, just so people understand that all of these streaming shows, Netflix, Amazon originals, they are now made with the same knowledge and data. that short form video and social media networks are programmed by. So they re -explain the plot to you every five minutes. There's an explosion or something that happens every five to seven minutes to continuously keep you engaged and keep you in because they realize that... I mean, what new story is there? There's not really a
new story. So it's just the same thing over and over again in different setting, but they literally are trying to jar you awake and get to your limbic system to keep you engaged and to bring you back in. And people talk about this openly in Hollywood now. Oh yeah, this is how we do it. Which brings me to my final point, the slave slab. This is my new term for what we used to call a phone. I made that, Rob, just for you. Oh, I know what you're talking about. Because I realized that
we call this a phone, but it's not a phone. No. It is a slab of technology that we are enslaved to. And here's why I'm saying this. It's like a recurring theme on We Get To Do This. No doubt. So I had that nice little, I finally upgraded to a Samsung, the foldable phone. I was real happy with it. And then I dropped one and I got a new one because I liked it so much and I could
do things faster. And so I was actually using this to demonstrate the Godcaster app because you can connect it to your Windows machine and then you can show it on the screen and you can demonstrate it to people. And the last day was Friday, I get up in the morning, I pick up the phone that's been, it's folded and I pick it up because it's been charging and it feels hot.
I'm like, oh, this is odd. So, you know, open up, it's functioning, but I see the battery go pretty quick and I plug it back in and it's getting even hotter. I'm like, and you know, you can't actually turn the phone off. You can hit the
power off button. But it's still running and as is witnessed by the fact that it was still warm kept warm Wasn't as warm as it was and and if I plugged it in it would be like, you know 56 or go up to 57 down to 55 So something's going on and I'm and I what I want to demo our app on the phone and the Application said your phone is too warm right now. We can't do this. So wow, I'm like, okay now We got through our demos and everything fine. Just held up a different phone.
Here's how it works. And so now we're going to go to the airport and I got to get an Uber. I'm in the Uber at 35 % and this thing is still warm. And I can't turn it off because I turned it off and it just kept going down and down and down. And by the time I'm through TSA, the phone's dead. or almost dead. I'm like, okay, I got an hour and a half here. Let me sit down and let me see what I can figure out. And so it's an Android. So I go through all these troubleshooting
steps. I have looked at all these apps that might've been on there. Something might be draining the battery. You can actually get into the phone when you connect it to a computer, if you know what you're doing. It's almost like going into a Unix machine. So you're seeing the command line, the processes that are running. And although it's purely an electronic thing, there's some short, and that's why I'm probably lucky that
the phone didn't burn. What I saw in there, and I've been hacking into Unix type computers for a long, long time, shocked me. there is all kinds of stuff running that is tracking things you never even thought. I've never loaded anything from Feta, Meta, or Facebook or Instagram on it. There was Meta processes in there from the company Meta, tracking things, looking at other apps, what they were doing, getting temperatures, sensors, how you're holding the phone, what the
movement of the phone is. I'm like, this is atrocious. And while I'm doing this, all of a sudden, bloop, hi, I'm Bixby. How can a Bixby, who's Bixby? Oh, I'm the Samsung AI. I'm here to help you. So this thing ran down, got on the plane. Of course, one of the only Southwest 737s that has no charging ports or anything. And so I couldn't even keep it going to test more. It's run down. It starts to go cold because it never started up again. Even when I plugged it in. Wow. And
I'm like, that's it. That's it, man. Like I went back to my old my old brick. This is my my old brick. You know, the open source operating system at least does text messages. Good. Now I fix
that. This this is a very, very. Very dangerous device just tells you how many things the data that they're getting from everything about your life and how much how much it so we book tickets Amsterdam to Israel LL and Had to oh now I know where the meta stuff came from whatsapp met one meta bought whatsapp So whatsapp is you know,
it's a like a messaging app. Yeah, they're their customer service is done through whatsapp I don't know why, but so you you talk to like, hey, I need to change these because we're changing our flight. The bot comes back and I find that I get someone clearly a human person change everything. One day later, I start getting Hebrew email spam. Now, you're telling me you're telling me that this is not connected. Of course, it's connected.
And if I was on. Instagram or any other thing that Tina might be on, just because we're on the same network, it can detect different devices and would start to give her Hebrew email spam, or maybe Israel videos on Instagram. This is not good stuff. And so I love this phone. I'm back on the old phone. I love it because it's slow. it's actually would be better for me to get up and go to a computer and do this task than wait for it on the phone. I am just, I have
to weigh myself down. That technological, the technological discovery, and there's a rule in technology. Like back in the day, we had like a T1 line, one megabit per second, and our server was connected to that. And we would have, I don't know, 5 ,000 visits a day to this website. when we upgraded to a bigger pipe, automatically we'd have more visits. So whenever you increase the speed or throughput of something in technology,
it fills up, more will be done with it. So when you get the newest phone and the fastest phone and the more storage and the more RAM and the more capability, The rule in technology is you will start using that for more, for more and more. So not condemning anybody, not telling anybody what to do, but I have made a real decision. This thing, the battery runs out within four hours. I have to plug it in again. I'm fine with that. I know I don't use it because the battery's
running. I am forcing myself into this self -imposed exile. I can still text. I can text. It does have a great camera, so I can take a camera, a picture, and that's it. Everything else is not worth it to me. Once I saw what was going on inside of that phone, I'm like, no way. No way am I letting people do this to me. No way. That's amazing. No way. That's sickening. So there you go. Yeah. Wow. That's another level. That's another level from putting down your screens
and picking up your Bibles. It is another level. It's like inviting people into your home, strangers into your home. Not just your home, your life, into your communications, into your patterns, your friend groups, your contacts, your trending, what you do, what you text. Wow. Man, I just ruined my day. I'm sorry. None of it surprises me, to be honest, though. I'm not surprised by any of that. You just got to be aware of it, that's all. Yeah, yeah. I'm to the extreme, but
that's just where I'm at, the slave slab. Man, wow. Boy, talk about needing a shield of faith, man. Yes. Quench all the fiery darts at the evil one even just to pick it up Yeah, even just to pick it up which by the way when you pick it up You're sending signals to every single app. He's picking up his phone. Should we send him a notification? Wow that level of stuff that level he's on he's on Well, I remember seeing a documentary on that. I can't remember the name.
It was pretty popular at the time. Showed these guys all standing at a bay and they were watching screens and they were acting out these processes that you're talking about. What was it called? It was actually really enlightening. I should know this. It's one of the more popular ones. It was powerful. I actually told Annette, we need to find that. That documentary we watched and watch it again just to remind ourselves what we're up against. Technology tracking you. Oh,
OK. I messed that up already. We'll have to owe it to people. I think it's important. That was an eye opener for me. I wish I remember. What is the movie about? Social media, tracking, you... Social network or something. Sounds familiar. I'm actually using technology to find this movie about technology. Let's see what it comes up with. But yeah, it was good because it gave you a real... kind of the view that I had technologically, it shows you that with little people standing,
you know, oh, he's doing this. For somebody like me who's not as technically... The social dilemma. That's it. There it is. Yes. Powerful. Yeah. Very powerful. The social dilemma. And think about how far we've come since then, you know, can imagine. Miles and miles and miles. And yet it was a great introductory into what's, how algos work and how they're doing this. Let's land the plane on this then, brother. Can I land it with a scripture? Please do. We haven't had
enough scripture in today's show. I was thinking, I was like, man, we need something. So Colossians chapter 2 verses 9 and 10, we're going through the book of Colossians, so I'm going to be covering this next section in a week from this week. It says this, for in him, that's Christ, for in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. In other words, everything that's in God is in Jesus. He's saying all of that dwells in Christ. There's a word, a theological word,
incarnate. That means he's the one who's come to this earth, or he's put on an earth suit and moved into the neighborhood. That's the easiest way to say it. That's my favorite way to say it. That's it. It says, so in him, all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily, and you, talking about you and me, are complete in him. That word complete means full and it literally the word is the picture of cramming something full. That
is to me in the Greek, that's fascinating. So it's like taking a bag if you were a first century Hebrew and you're packing your mule. You don't just fill the bag, you cram things into it to get everything in you can. And that's the picture of this. So when it says you're complete, it means you are full. You're absolutely filled to the brim and overflowing. He says, you're complete in Him who is the head of all principality
and power. And those principalities and power, what he's talking about is not earthly power. He's talking about the demonic realm, everything that's happening in the atmosphere around us. It says that you're complete in Him. And because you're in him, you now are sitting in the one who is head over all of that. So let me give you the DG from today. We'll end with the DG. So this is the daily grind. Today's scripture is Colossians chapter two, verses nine and 10.
For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and you are complete in him who is the head of all principality and power. Today's title is, Fully Supplied and Lacking Nothing. Everything that is God dwells in Jesus Christ. He was fully man. He was fully God. This is a game changer. If only you will receive it and believe it. Paul reminds us, and you are complete in him. It means to be fully supplied, filled to the brim, lacking nothing, to be made complete in every particular,
to be rendered perfect. This is an astonishing truth. In him, you are complete, whole and filled to the top. dwell in this truth today about who you are in Christ. This is Pastor Jimmy Pruitt. Have an amazing day on purpose. Beautiful, brother. I love it. We'll see y 'all next week. We get to do this, and so do you.
