S4 Ep15: Change of a Dress
Charlotte takes up tap, Samantha catches monogamy, Miranda gets a sonogram, and Carrie and Aidan... I can't really talk about it.
Mike Jensen has seen the Sex and the City series many times. Elise Castle has never seen a single episode.
\n\r\n\r\n\"We Couldn't Help But Wonder\" what would happen if these two went on an episode by episode journey through the whole series.
\n\r\n\r\nJoin us as Mike watches for the (insert embarrassing number here) time and Elise is watching for the very first. We will discuss how the series holds up almost 20 years later, our own experiences living in NYC, and the debate over too much cranberry juice in the Cosmopolitan.

Charlotte takes up tap, Samantha catches monogamy, Miranda gets a sonogram, and Carrie and Aidan... I can't really talk about it.
Carrie makes a new friend, Samantha makes a stunning declaration, Miranda runs into a coworker in a very unusual place, and Chalotte and Trey come to a startling conclusion. It's an episode that really sets up the rest of the season and Elise and Mike have a lot to say about it.
Carrie and Aidan's move in causes come tension in the Bradshaw/Shaw household, but nothing compared to the Park Avenue residence of Charlotte and Trey. Meanwhile Samantha is resisting any romantic entanglements with her boss and Miranda has what she considers one last chance for sex before becoming a Mom. Also, that's Elise belching at the start of the episode. Sorry, and you're welcome.
Some major decisions are being made. Carrie has to decide how to respond to more than one proposal from Aidan. Miranda and Steve have to decide how to deal with impending parenthood. Charlotte and Trey have to decide how and if to move forward with their fertility issues. And Samantha has to decide if she should hook up with Mr. Right… er, Wright. (Spoiler, she totally does)
There is a lot to cover here. Both Charlotte and Miranda have major news. Miranda's development sends Carrie on a journey into her own past. Meanwhile Samantha wants a really big, really expensive accessory and she drops her recent client's name (Lucy Liu) to get it. Things are about to get very serious...
This episode can basically be summed up in one word, but we'll let you figure out what that word is. Some get tugged, one almost gets purchased because one got removed, a doctor needs to check out what Trey's are making, both Samantha and Big prove they "have them." It's balls, guys. The word is balls.
Did you know that Aidan has a country house? Well, he does and Carrie is expected to visit regularly. When she brings Samantha along for company Samantha finds some company of her own. Meanwhile Charlotte happens upon a startling scene at the MacDougal family country home, and Miranda makes Steve cry after hearing some startling news. This episode ROCKS! (kinda)
So this is a big one, and Big isn't even involved. Miranda experiences a loss and the girls all deal with it in various ways. Carrie recedes from Aidan, Charlotte buys fruit baskets and flowers, Samantha distracts herself in her usual way, Mike cries, and Elise has to take over the conversation a few times. And yes, I just included Elise and I as part of "the girls." Let's all breath and reboot.
Miranda and Charlotte have a phone confrontation about life choices, Samantha has a taxi cab confrontation and is told to deal with some waxing choices, and Carrie and Aiden have some passive aggressive confrontations all about one very Big choice from her past. Hey! I picked a theme and stuck with it! I should write for this show...
This one is all about babies. Charlotte and Trey are thinking about having one, Samantha is dating a guy who talks like one... Okay, so that's really all the baby stuff there is, but I suppose you could say that Carrie is a infant when it comes to email, and Miranda... No, I'm not going to try and think of a baby metaphor for Miranda's date. Plus we have an awkward double date at Tortilla Flats! (R.I.P.)
Miranda has a ghost! Carrie has an ex! Charlotte has a Mother in Law! Samantha has a talkative girlfriend! And I have no more exclamation points... Enjoy the show! (Oh look, I had one more)
Carrie gets ‘played’ by her jazz musicain boyfriend while Charlotte and Trey play all over town. Miranda eats a lot of cake and Samantha eats... well, you’ve seen the episode. Mike actually remembers to do the DVD recap and Elise has a startling diagnosis for an old school musical theatre character. Yep, we’ve got trouble.
For an episode Elise and Mike claim not to like very much a lot happens here. Carrie, Samantha, and Miranda all meet potential new love interests, Charlotte tries to figure out what's going on with hers, but most importantly there are TWO different Michael John LaChiusa The Wild Party shout outs, along with a brief history of another short lived Broadway musical. And don't get Mike started on meat crab...
Elise and Mike follow the ladies as they model, date guys from the gym, get nude photos taken, and take a good look at their... well, you'll see.
We're back for Season Four! Samantha is in love with a priest! Miranda has a new comedy routine! Charlotte needs to know what's going on in her marriage! And Carrie is turning 35! And Mike is using too many exclamation points... Enjoy!!!
It's a bonus episode! Mike and (mostly) Elise take a quick look back at the pilot after having watched the first three seasons. Does anything stand out as being strange all these years later? Does Carrie have a cell phone? And what color is her hair? All this and more is discussed as we get ready to launch season four next week!
Let's take a look back at season three. We talk about favorite lines, a lot of moments we can't really let go of, least favorite episodes, favorite episodes, and it all starts with the entire season distilled into less than four minutes.
It's the season 3 finale! Too much happens to describe here, just listen! Also, change of plans, the recap will be out next week. Rise and shine!
So much happens in the penultimate episode of season 3! A robbery, a really bad hangover, a moment of infidelity, a fall, and a separation. And that's not even getting to the weirdness this is Samantha's story line. Season 3 is almost over! And we're officially half way done with the whole series!!
Charlotte and Trey get nautical! Miranda gets stood up! Samantha makes a new friend! Carrie proves herself to be not much of a teacher! Mike remembers to recap, and Elise reverts to not knowing names! Ahoy!
Mike and Elise forgot to record the recap for this one, so here it is. Carrie dates a grown man who works at a comic book shop, rides a scooter, and lives with his parents. Miranda get braces to fix her "tongue thrusting." Samantha throws a Bat Mitzvah celebration for a 13 year old girl who acts shockingly "mature" for her age. And Charlotte goes from researching male anatomy body modifications, to couples therapy, to some pretty strange art and crafts. Now let's all party like teenagers!...
The girls have a few more days in sunny California! Two of them get waxed, one of them gets a fake Fendi, one of them meets up with an old flame, and one of them picks a fight with a Playboy Bunny. Elise and Mike wax poetic about it. See what I did there?
All right. Let's try this one again. The ladies take off for the West Coast just as Mike returns to NYC. While in L.A. three of the ladies encounter adult toys, mechanical bulls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and a super creepy Mathew McConaughey, while Charlotte stays home and plays a stamp wielding Nancy Drew, and Elise spends much of her weekend on social media explaining that all will be fixed soon. So, as they say in Hollywood, take two. (They say that outside of Hollywood too, and Mike wanted ...
This episode is all about honesty. Mike honestly liked the movie Mother! Elise is honestly kind of rude about Aidan's sentiment regarding the wedding gift he made. And both Mike and Elise are honestly confused about the timeline leading up to Charlotte and Trey's wedding.
Elise thinks the most important thing to know about this recording is that she's aware that Lauren Bacall was in Applause The Musical not Ballroom The Musical. Mike thinks the most important thing to know is that the worse Big behaves, the more of a crush Elise has on him. Mike does not approve. Also there are talking hoagies, ill-secured swings, and Mentadent. As Oprah Winfrey once sang, Run On...
Elise and Mike take a look at episode 10 of season 3. Topics range from trips to Pennsylvania, delivery service in NYC, confronting a future mother in law, and proper phone etiquette. See Manhattan! We can have it all!!
Elise and Mike take a look at an episode that Mike thinks is great and also hates. Steve moves out, Samantha tries wheatgrass, Charlotte pops the question, and Carrie stays at a hotel. Also, Elise begins to wage a war on kittens. Here we go...
This is a Big one you guys. Pun intended. And I don't just mean the episode being discussed. This is the pod where lines are drawn and sides are taken. Elise and Mike stand on opposite ends of perhaps the greatest debate involving Sex And The City and things may never be the same...
Elise and Mike really like this one! Episode 7 of season 3 brings up topics like umbrella etiquette, aggressive gum chewing, and how under appreciated much of Kim Cattrall's work was. Also, Aida! (Though not the one Mike saw thirteen times on Broadway...)
An important question indeed. Elise and Mike answer this question and more while also discussing improper sexy time declarations, how to win (or not) the approval of your fellow tenants, and why a character we've seen before is answering to the wrong name. It's a puzzler. Enjoy!
