I'm excited to be kicking off season four. We are carbon evolves with every season of the podcast, and this time the shift feels pretty huge. Times are changing and that can be felt all around us in the world. The need to bring a holistic lens and understand how to regenerate the systems from the inside out feels more important than ever. Of course, it always has been, but from my own point of view, I'm shifting things up a gear.

I've tended to see We Are Carbon as a quiet niche that people will stumble upon at the right time. When it resonates, it resonates. But I'm recognising a need to unapologetically push this information outwards because it's relevant to all of us, even if we don't know it yet. I aim to encompass the wide range of content that we've covered, and make it more succinct, so people can dip in and get a faster understanding of at least where this is all coming from.

You'll see an example of that in episode one. I'll be continuing to have conversations with voices new and those already known to us, to keep us open to the vast range of learning gleaned from multiple perspectives and across diverse sectors. At the core, We Are Carbon has always been about piecing together a vision for a society that can thrive in harmony with nature.

For me, this means regenerating ourselves, our bodies, our minds, our communities, our sense of fun and passion even side by side with regenerating our soils and returning balance and resilience to the ecosystems and the climate that we depend upon. It's all absolutely interconnected. We are nature. We Are Carbon. It's time to keep moving beyond the learning and consider how do we connect the dots to make the vision a reality?

When our societal systems are out of balance they parallel the monocultures of our landscapes; degenerating, becoming less complex, less resilient, less healthy, whilst the forces around us become more unpredictable, more extreme. It's a spiral in the wrong direction. We get stuck on the idea that systems change is difficult, that it should feel complicated, or like we need to force ourselves against the problems.

And from this mindset, we can blind ourselves to the stepping stones that are in front of us. Systems change is complex, but nature teaches us how to recognise the simplicity within complexity, which, as far as I can see it, is centered on effortless, beneficial relationships. A bee pollinating a flower. It's simplicity itself for the bee, effortless and beneficial for all parties involved. One element out of uncountable relationships that together build a vast and complex ecosystem system.

Woven into this new season of We Are Carbon I'll be exploring a range of practical experiments. Think of it as me offering you a bunch of different flowers. You'll not favour them all, but if one does attract you, it should just feel right. Natural. And you're invited to come along and pollinate it. So keep an eye out for the opportunities to participate. I don't aim to make We Are Carbon relevant to everybody. That doesn't work.

But for those of you who resonate, I do aim to help you to bring regenerative actions and relationships to your own place so we can all be taking little steps towards healing for ourselves and the people and communities around us. Finding our own simplicity. Acting alongside one another to build up the complexity. A bit like people versions of wildlife corridors.

And as I recognise the value in the eagerness of this project, I'm also seeking to shift from creating this content voluntarily, to be financially supported, and potentially, hopefully picking up the pace by being able to support others to join me in the production too. The first opportunity for you to support We Are Carbon in this way comes from a range of art prints that I've created and launched, which are also available as greetings cards.

Random perhaps, but there's a whole journey that I'm hoping to experiment with these. And the first step is inviting you to have a glance. Share them with your friends if you like them. Make a purchase if you really like them. All the while knowing that you're helping to bring the visions of We Are Carbon to life. And if you're in the city of Lincoln or likely to visit, then head to one of my favourite shops there. Forage and Fill on The Strait, just before you start the climb up Steep Hill.

It's a treasure trove of zero waste, scooping up just what you need for your organic dry goods, local products and hard to find cleaning and beauty stuff. And now you'll also find the We Are Carbon art prints and cards on display. The first beautiful relationship that I'm privileged to create with them. If you'd like to become a distributor of them to feel free to reach out. The details about all of what I've mentioned here are in the description. I'm Helen Fisher. Thank you for listening.

And as I started out with at the beginning, I'm very excited to be kicking off season four of We Are Carbon. Please subscribe and get ready to enjoy the mix of content that emerges. And let's keep figuring this all out together.
