Transcript

This is the WWZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. Over the years I've interviewed several authors have written books about sleep. One of the better ones is by Matthew Walker from twenty seventeen called Why We Sleep, Unlocking the Power of

Sleep and Dreams. The author is the director of the Sleep and Neuroimaging Lab at the University of California, and with years of research under his belt, Walker explains what sleep actually is and what it isn't, how and why certain animals sleep the way they do, and how patterns of sleep change as we age. There's the many obvious benefits of sleep and how it affects us both mentally and physically. A better night's sleep means better health and longer life.

The third section of this book is all about dreaming, the creative energy that dreams bring, what it really means to have a lucid dream, and the very latest in technology that should allow us to get to sleep faster and stay asleep, technology that does not involve sleeping pills.
