Welcome to the WZ book Club. This is Jordan. While back, I interviewed Diane Brayley, a local Boston area writer, for her dramatic and moving first novel, The Silence in the Sound, the setting Martha's vineyard and a young woman's relationship with her alcoholic father. Now a new novel called The Summer Before One that also deals with intense trauma. Two young girls, maddled and in Summer, are the best of friends and like sisters, they share everything. But Summer has been hiding

a brutal secret for many years. Someone has been abusing her, someone very close to the two girls. Sadly, most predators are people we know and love and trust. There's a criminal trial and Madeline, now a young woman, wrestles with guilt and shame over what happened to Summer back then, something Madeline didn't want to believe. She must face up to all those involved in the trauma to begin her

healing process. A powerful second novel from Diane Brayley, The Summer Before the book Club WZ Boston's news radio
