Welcome to the WBZ book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. Here's one from last year called Semi Famous. A true story of near celebrity by comedian Josh Sunquist tagged in an Instagram story by somebody and they labeled him a semi famous Internet comedian, m do you take that as a compliment? While being the creative type that he is, he non scientifically took a poll of his followers and
discovered many of them would prefer fame over happiness. This led to an exploration of what celebrity is all about, and the book is very funny and illustrated, with hand drawn grafts and a history of celebrity from the days of Alexander the Great to the influencers on social media now. Sundquist has an interesting life. He's a paralympian, lost a leg to cancer when he was a child, and he exposes the dangers of social media. How a TikTok disability truther
claimed that Josh was faking his missing leg. There's lots of bad stuff about being a semi celebrity, but there's some good stuff too, and we're happy to say Sunquist found his journey to fame, albeit semi fame, a timely take called semi famous, a true story of near celebrity, and that's the book Club.
