Welcome to the Bezy book Club, Jordan. Here and with football season upon us. There are many amazing books about the NFL. Here's one of historical relevance. It's called Rock at Me, The Black Quarterbacks Who Revolutionized Pro Football. It took many, many years for black quarterbacks to be accepted, even though the book sites won Frederick Douglas Fritz Pollard born in eighteen ninety five, who became the NFL's first black quarterback and the first blackhead coach in the NFL.
Most of us haven't heard the name because his career ended in the mid nineteen twenties, and for many decades, black players were frozen out of the game, particularly at the quarterback position. Many reasons, of course, including racism and the thought that black players didn't have the quote unquote intelligence to captain of football squad. Eventually, in nineteen seventy four, James Harris of the Los Angeles Rams became the first black quarterback to start an NFL playoff game.
