Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that, you get the head, the tale, the whole damn thing.
You know. It's hard to believe, but it's the fiftieth anniversary of Steven Spielberg's Jaws, and fifty years later, I've just finished a book called Robert Shaw, An Actor's Life on the Set of Jaws and Beyond. It's written by his nephew, Christopher Shaw Myers. To suggest that Robert Shaw the actor was a complex individual would be an understatement.
The book is really about two things.
Robert Shaw's family, his close relationship with his sister and a more challenging one with his mother, along of course, with his career on the stage as both a performer and playwright, and a string of hit movies from Russia with Love a Man for All Seasons, and of course Jaws. An intimate portrait of an iconic.
Actor that is well worth the read.
