Episode description

Jordan passes along advice from the Association of American Publishers.

Transcript

Welcome to the WBZ Book Club. This is Jordan Rich. It's always interesting to take a look at reading trends as a new year unfolds, so I checked in with the Association of American Publishers or AAP. They represent the leading book journal and education publishers in the US, and they have some interesting stats garnered over the last couple of years. Seventy five percent of all Americans have read at least one book in any format over the last year. Two in

five Americans now listen to audiobooks. Audiobooks are most popular with younger readers eighteen to twenty nine, and when it comes to reading on your kindle or digital pad, those numbers are close to fifty percent. The audiobook industry is earning close to six billion dollars a year, with close to one hundred and twenty million adulta Americans enjoying the audiobook format, and as digitalization has taken over AI in the form of chat GPT is leading to low quality computer written books that

could lead to potential copyright violations. We'll have to wait and see on that. Just a few of the latest stats and trends all part of the Book Club WBZ Boston's news radio
