Hello, and welcome to the WBZ Book Club. This is Jordan Rich. Occasionally I note the passing of a major figure in popular literature, and that's the case today with the death of Nelson De Mill, author of so many best selling suspense novels. Born in New York City, Nelson de Mill joined the US Army in nineteen sixty six,
earning a bronze star during his service in Vietnam. He began writing novels in nineteen seventy four, his first one, The Sniper, with a character named Joe Riiker, a tough New York cop who was featured in several other novels, including The Knight of the Phoenix. Another character of De Mill's US Army investigator Paul Brenner, first arriving in the book The General's Daughter. And another favorite character was John Cory, a retired detective from New York who appeared in nineteen
ninety seven's Plum Island. Demill's final book was co written with his son. Just last year. Demill also left us all a library of thrilling suspense novels that will always be worth reading. And that's the Book Club. WBZ, Boston's news radio
