Welcome to the w b Z Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich making it so as a memoir by the one and only Patrick Stewart, most famous these days for portraying Jean Luke Picard on Star Trek The Next Generation. But long before he sailed through the Stars, Patrick Stewart was one of Britain's finest stage actors. He hailed from a working class background in Yorkshire and found an escape from
an unhappy young life in books. As he says, the stage would prove to be a safe space, a refuge from real life in which I could inhabit another person living in another place and time. Well he did just that and more, working hard through two decades where he ultimately became a member of
the Royal Shakespeare Company. It's a charming memoir. Stuart is gracious and self deprecating and gives props to many of his colleagues and fellow actors, including Helen Mirren, Malcolm McDowell, Vivian Lee of Gone with the Win fame, and of course for Star Trek fans, there are a lot of funny behind the scenes stories. As some critics have said, you do not have to be a Treky to enjoy it, Making it so, A memoir by Patrick Stewart. The Book Club w b Z, Boston's news radio
