Welcome to the w BZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. One of my favorite categories to talk about his movies and a book by Donald Bogel and John Singleton called Hollywood Black, The Stars, The Films, the Filmmakers. Independent African American filmmakers actually began working during the Silent Era. Early performers such as Stephen Fetchett or Bill bo Jangles Robinson were totally stereotypical despite their amazing talent.

There were pioneers in the black film industry, Haddie McDaniel and Gone with the Win, winning an Academy Award, Actresses such as Dorothy Dandridge nominated for Best Actress in Carmen Jones in nineteen fifty four, and groundbreaking performers such as Sidney Poitier, cisly Tyson, Richard pryor Eddie Murphy, as well as directors such as Spike Lee and one of the authors of the book, John Singleton. Today's pantheon of a list black actors include Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Morgan

Freeman, Elly Berry, Angela Bassett, and many many more. Hollywood Black, The Stars, The Films The Filmmakers, by Donald Bogel and by director John Singleton, The Book Club. W b Z, Boston's news radio
