Welcome. This is the WBZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. Four Against the West, The true saga of a frontier family that reshaped the nation and created a legend. The author is Joe Papalardo. It's a brand new book that takes a look at the lives of the Bean brothers, James, Samuel, Joshua and Roy. That's right, Judge Roy Bean, all of whom were anxious to head west and often skirt the law and traditions in doing so. For some of the

brothers it was trade that brought them west. For others, the lure of contraband, and, in Roy's case, who was living in New Mexico, a confederate, ally, the idea of importing slaves to create a lavish ranch. While that was most appealing, the Bean brothers were charismatic, with Roy particularly standing out as a scoundrel capable of bravery and chicanery.

It is definitely a wild West story. It focuses on a family, four brothers who had a lot to do with the movement west, but their behavior left a lot to be desired.
