Speaker 1

Welcome to the WBZ book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. A few years back I interviewed Tom Keating, a local author who wrote a book called Yesterday's Soldier, A Passage from Prayer to the Vietnam War, the story of a man who went from an infantry officer candidate to a conscientious objector in Vietnam. Well, Tom recently sent me his latest project called Elephants, Secrets and Submarines Stories and Essays, some of them pertaining to the Vietnam War era, but not all.

Stories that bring us back to the nineteen sixties the Vietnam era, and as he does, Tom pays tribute to the Vietnam War veterans so often forgotten. Part memoir, part fiction, and even a poem called Pandemic Blues, a lament during the COVID pandemic. Fine writing from a thoughtful veteran who cares about people and has served his country well. Elephants, Secrets and Submarines Stories and Essays by Tom Keating. That's another edition of the book Club. WBZ, Boston's news radio
