Welcome to the WVZ book Club. This is Jordan Rich. Max Brooks, best selling author of World war Z, wrote another novel of science fiction and horror about fifteen years later called Devolution. Mount Rainier has erupted in a volcano, killing a lot of people. But the volcano, along with unleashing deadly lava, also gives rise to an army of Sasquatches,

often referred to as Bigfoot. Not one, but many. And in this novel, like World war Z, the author uses a fast paced, exciting story to bring light to many human issues that have led to disaster. There might have been a better warning for the volcano had the US government not slashed the US Geological Survey, an understandable take when you look at, say, the monstrous fires in California

this month. The book has a lot of action and a lot of gore, but it raises some interesting philosophical topics and Max Brooks knows how to tell a good story. Devolution by Max Brooks, Yes, the son of Melbrooks, And that's the book Club. WBZ, Boston's news radio
