Welcome to the WBZ Book Club, Jordan Rich. Here, I've mentioned several books over the last couple of months that I've read by Dan Simmons, and here's one of his earlier novels, A long one six hundred and fifty plus pages called Carrion Comfort. This one features a certain kind of vampire, a small number of people with quote unquote abilities to infect the minds and bodies of their victims, and through mind control, these megamoniacal vampires seek to conquer
more than just individuals. The villains of varied from a World War II Nazi officer to a fire and brimstone preacher, to corporate and government giants. The heroes those out to stop the vampires on their path of destruction include a Jewish Holocaust survivor, a young black female photographer whose father was murdered by the evil ones, a local yogul sheriff, and even a group of gang bangers. A huge novel with a lot of suspense and blood, reminding me of
the best of Stephen King. Get set for a horror story that'll keep you up at night. Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons. The Book Club WBZ Boston's News radio
