Welcome to the WBZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. Local author David Daniel, who's at several important novels published, including The Tuesday Man, The Skelly Man, and White Rabbit, is showing his skill as a short story writer in a collection called Beach Town Stories. If you're from the South Shore of Boston, as i am, you'll find a lot of it very familiar.

The author has created a fictional seaside town known as north Way Bridge, and it's a series of stories mostly focused around growing up in the nineteen sixties and seventies, the looming Vietnam War, unrequited love and lost loves, teenage angst, paths not taken, regrets and rewards. I love it when a talented

short story writer allows certain characters and situations to blend into other stories. There's a nice sense of continuation as the author takes us back to a time and a place where car washes and fast food, fast cars and double dates, where what it was all about. All in all, very entertaining. Beachtown Stories by David Daniel The Book Club WWZ, Boston's news radio
