Welcome to the WBZ Book Club. I'm Jordan Rich. If you've been watching the Crown, and many of us have, here's a book to consider called After Elizabeth? Can the Monarchy Save Itself? By Ed Owens. The book examines the paradox that is the royal family. The Queen and now the King, King Charles are representatives of the people while living high above them and enjoying
amazing wealth and privilege. Charles the Third, now in his mid seventies, is still adjusting to his new position after succeeding his mother, who was widely admired by her subjects and around the world. The author is fond of the monarchy, considering himself a close friend of the family, and examines how Elizabeth was a stabilizing force at the same time turning her back on many emerging problems, and it suggested that King Charles make certain reforms before the British public truly
tires of the King and his court. Owens writes the monarch the King can do much in the future to bind the country's wounds and bring the people together, one that plays a genuinely useful role in national life.
