Episode description

In this episode, Justin and Matt speak with Thomas Jay Oord about his most recent book, "The Death of Omnipotence, and Birth of Amipotence" wherein Tom outlines many of the reasons why omnipotence is no longer credible or salvageable and wherein he offers an alternative view of divine power. We also discuss some of the challenges that have come along with being a more progressive voice in a conservative institution. Tom is a theologian, philosopher, and scholar of multidisciplinary studies. He’s written or edited more than thirty books, and currently directs a doctoral program at Northwind Theological Seminary and the Center for Open and Relational Theology. Oord is known for his contributions to research on love, open and relational theology, science and religion, and freedom and relationships for transformation.
