Since trying to be open minded around sexuality after leaving Mormonism, I found myself questioning marriage in general. Wondering for a moment if monogamy was just another tradition we absorbed through religion, social pressures, insecurities, co-dependency, and fear of being alone. In this episode I share some of my discoveries and how I'm feeling about marriage now.
Have you ever been hurt by someone? Been rejected, turned down, left out, judged, misunderstood, or mistreated? Of course you have. We ALL have. I want to tell you about a recent experience I had that triggered a lot of anger and resentment in me. About the thoughts I chose to believe about myself and how I turned them around. Don't believe a single thought that comes when you're feeling any of these lower vibration emotions. Wait, watch, and wonder... Eventually the feelings will pass as you ma...
Everything outside of us is a reflection of our own thinking. So many of us, including myself, are giving our power away. Anytime we allow a negative comment, response, or reaction from others to upset us, we are choosing to believe a STORY, therefore causing our own suffering. Whenever we are suffering, that is our signal to STOP! Take a look at the beliefs we have attached ourselves to and evaluate whether or not those beliefs are useful.
We had a few drinks and decided to record a podcast. You're welcome!
My interview with Morgan and Jared Higdon. After years of issues stacking up on Morgan's 'shelf', it suddenly came crashing down. Morgan and her husband Jared (a.k.a. Sister Jensen) started a YouTube channel called, "My Spiritual Life". In their vlogs and humorous skits, they share their perspective and problems during their transition out of the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Leaving the Mormon church can feel very scary, and very isolating. Their purpose in cr...
Emotions are just energy and all energy can be transformed. Today Sean and I talk about our anger. How we've been learning to channel that powerful energy into a constructive purpose. Why we left the church and still almost a year and a half later, "can't leave it alone". "Use that anger. You write it. You paint it. You dance it. You march it. You vote it. You do everything about it." ~ Maya Angelou
"It was 2006 and my faith crisis was at its peak. I remember laying on my front room floor wishing the earth would swallow me up. It would be so much easier than walking this path of confusion. I knew life would never be the same again. [side note] I was born and raised mormon. I was a good mormon girl. I did all that was expected of me. I was on the path since day one. I held all the callings, kept all the rules and stayed on the very narrow path. BYU, married in the temple, children, stay at h...
Being consistent and persistent in your pursuits over a long period of time will reap beautiful rewards. Determination to stick with something will eventually turn it into a habit which then requires less discipline to get yourself to do it. It becomes so much a part of your routine that you no longer deal with the internal war of deciding whether or not you are going to do it.
For those moments you feel lost, alone, depressed and scared. I want this episode to be one you can return to anytime you are triggered. One you can share with others who are fresh out and going through the most intense part of a faith transition, which in most cases, escalates into an existential crisis. Suddenly you realize everything you once THOUGHT you knew to be true, is nothing more than a made up story. Like finding out Santa Clause is not real. When you feel judged and misunderstood. Wh...
There is beauty in simplicity! We all deal with overwhelm from time to time. But guess what?! Feeling overwhelmed is a CHOICE! Let me share about my recent encounter with overwhelm, what I learned, and my plan moving forward.
"Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness, will we discover the infinite power of our light." ~ Brene Brown This time last year is when I chose to take that leap into the “darkness”. On the podcast today I’m going to give a recap of what this year has been like since choosing to leave my life long religion. It all began with episode 15. I had no idea what was about to unfold. This year has been the most challenging and the most beautiful year of my life....

"Your story could be the key that unlocks someone else's prison. Don't be afraid to share it." ~ Toby Mac Last week Sean shared his story and this week I'm sharing mine.
Sean Escobar is one of the bravest men I know. He continues to amaze me with his courage and deep love for others. He is truly saving other victims and is an incredible example of how one person being brave enough to speak up can pave the way for others to do the same.
Sean speaks on how he operated as a reformed whore, how he became fanatical and critical for many years. Definition of a reformed whore: A person who once practiced a bad habit egregiously who now rails hypocritically against other people practicing the same bad habit. "What’s changed about the way I view people? I used to look at these 2 separate peoples posts on Facebook just to see how badly they would offend me. Maybe I wanted to judge them. I was mainly put off by their language. The use of...
Getting real up close and personal about the things that have kept me from fully embracing my sexuality. Years of shame and guilt caused me to suppress my true sexual nature. Only recently have I discovered an exciting and healthy way of expressing my love more fully toward Sean.
Sean and I get REALLY real in this episode. Sharing some things we never thought we'd be able to share.
As most of you know, I just published my very first book. In the process of doing this I've come to meet so many people who too would like to write a book. It's time to take the next step, and begin writing that book that's dying to get out. Meet New York Times Best Selling Author, Pete Cerqua. He shares some insider tips on how to write your book and get it published. Pe...

After months of going through and processing all the emotions that come with an existential crisis, Sean and I are happy to have arrived into a new, more positive emotion of love and gratitude for our experience growing up in a religion. We are ready to find ways to bridge the gap and become one with everyone, no matter their religious beliefs or political views. There is a universal commonality that we forget to acknowledge, and that is LOVE! Love is the ultimate goal and driving force which ca...

Let’s be real, waking up before the kids is extremely difficult. But I definitely pay a price when I don't get a head start on my day. On the days I sleep in, I tend to feel scattered, overwhelmed, and a bit stressed. Lacking focus on what I need and should be doing, rendering an unproductive day. Not only that but I struggle to be present when I'm with my kids. I try so hard to give them my full attention when they need me but I'm constantly feeling anxious and two steps behind. I need the peac...
Sean and I are realizing our past approach to parenting may be the effect of unconscious thinking. Doing what has always been done without ever really questioning WHY. Not allowing space for new ideas to emerge, new ways of viewing our children and the role we are playing in their lives. Maybe our children are here to teach US instead of the other way around. Their ability to show us things about ourselves should be approached with great respect and reverence. Dr. Shefali Tsabary, author of The ...

He is now helping others heal and grow spiritually as a Yoga Instructor and Crystal Bowl Sound Healing Practitioner. The conscious mind is only the tip of the ice-burg. Below the water exists something so vast and majestic that you can't help but want to explore it. I've recently gained a new understanding and appreciation for the unconscious mind, the mind that takes over while we sleep. Have you ever wondered if your dreams have meaning? In this episode I dive a little deeper into the purpose of dreams and how you can use them to discover new insights, gain clarity, creativity, solutions to your problems, an...
Sadhguru said it so beautifully: "What is the purpose of life? Never ask why with creation, you just ask how. There are plenty of tools and technologies that can show you how, but if you ask why, there is no why. We can tell you stories. I can tell you a story that many of you would love to believe. If I speak about something that is not yet in your experience, you have only two choices. Either to believe me or disbelieve me. If you believe me, you will not get any closer to reality. It is just ...
About 8 months ago I experienced an intense panic attack, I talked about it in season 1 episode 18 . This experience can also be described as the “dark night of the soul”, something I now see as the turning point and most essential part of my growth. My dark night of the soul happened due my deep desire for spiritual growth. I felt stagnant, and was craving more. Although I was taught that my religion was the one and only way to receive the fulness of blessings in this life and for eternity, I c...
Judging others is a character of the ego. Anytime the ego is in charge, our souls connection becomes clouded, making it difficult to learn something new, have compassion for others, and even have the ability to be creative. The ego sees things as good and bad, the soul just SEES things without any judgement.
This is one of my favorite times of year. A time to reflect and plan for a new year. In this episode I'd like to share some of the things I hope to manifest as well as the process I use when setting goals. This is the final episode of season two, but I will be back within a few weeks to begin season three.
