You're listening to KFI AM six forty wake Up Call with me Amy King on demand on the iHeartRadio app KFI and KOST HD two Los Angeles, Orange County. I gotta go you, Amy Kay. It's five o'clock. This is your wake up call for Tuesday, June eighteenth. We're live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. I'm Amy King. Good morning. As Bill's going to be telling you over and over again, it's Taco Tuesday. Here's what I want to know. If we have Taco Tuesday every Tuesday, why don't we have

tacos every Tuesday? Just to do you do? Does that at work? Do you have tacos every Tuesday? Very close? Really? Yes? Big Street taco fan. Okay, I had Casadias for dinner last night. Does that count? Have you folded in half? Yeah? Sure? Okay, that would make it Taco Monday. All right. Anyway, here's what's ahead on wake Up Call. The Biden administration has announced an executive action that would protect illegal immigrant spouses of US citizens who've been here at least ten years from

deportation. It'll affect about five hundred thousand people. We're going to be getting all the details about that from ABC's Karen Travers. Coming up at the bottom of the hour, the Wildlife Burning Wildlife. The wildfire burning in the Gorman area has burned more than fifteen thousand, six hundred acres. It's twenty percent

surrounded. The fire that started Saturday has forced about twelve hundred people to evacuate, and residents in the potential path of the fire, which is south of Pyramid Lake, west of the five and north of Templan Highway, been told to be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Contract negotiatations continued until early this morning, but there's still no deal between the parent company of food for

Less and six thousand of its workers in southern California. Union leaders say workers could walk off the job by midweek if they don't get a new deal.

Kroger says it has made a fair offer. Before the hour is up, we're going to be checking in with ABC's Steven Portnoy about Congress's next step now that the Supreme Court has struck down that ban on bump stocks, and also coming up before the bottom of the hour, the host of How to Money on KFI is going to let us know how we can save money by shopping more. Yeah, I want to get in on that. Let's get started with some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom.

Cruise battling the more than fifteen thousand acre wildfire near Gorman are on a tight deadline. Firefighters are trying to make as much progress on the fire as they can before warm temperatures return this weekend, and you'll see a lot of cruise, and we urge people to be cautious on the freeways because you're going to see a lot of cruise working out there along the freeways and driving. La County Fire Section Chief Canichi Haskett says more than one one hundred firefighters from sixty

different agencies are at the fire, which broke out Saturday. Hand cruise have been hiking into technical terrain to establish containment lines. Ali Hughes, Blake Trolly k if I News The fire is twenty percent surrounded. A brush fire near Moreno Valley in Riverside County has grown to nearly nine hundred acres, but the good news is it's ninety five percent surrounded. Fire started Sunday afternoon near Alessandro Boulevard and Gilman Springs Road in the area known as the bad Lands. Firefighters

say winds were calm last night and skies were mostly cloudy. People living in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys and parts of the Angelus National Forest are being advised to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and avoid vigorous physical activity because of the smoke being pushed into the area from the fire burning near Gorman. The wildfire smoke advisory also warns people against running air conditioners or air purifiers

until the smoke clears. President Biden's expected to announce some executive actions that would protect a half million illegal immigrants from being deported. ABC's Lionel Moyes says the actions could eventually lead to citizenship. The first new policy would apply to undocumented immigrants who have been married to US citizens and have been living in the US for more than ten years, allowing them to apply for legal permanent residents without

leaving the country. This is another policy would streamline the process for young illegal immigrants to apply for work vieces. Biden's expected to make the announcement of the plan later today, and of course we're going to get more information on that from Karen Travers and again that's coming up. Just after the bottom of the hour. An iconic fast food place in Hollywood has closed its doors for good. Oh my best friend Amy is going to be so sad about this.

The Rby's on Sunset was known for decades for its neon sign, well shut down over the weekend after fifty five years in business. Customers showed up on Saturday just to find workers covering the doors the sign farewell Hollywood. The owner, who is ninety one, said she was struggling to keep the place open and noted California's recent minimum wage increase. Right now, let's say good morning to ABC's Jordana Miller. Giordana, things aren't getting any easier for Prime Minister

Natanyahu. He disbanded his war cabinet, So what does that effectively do. That's right, Prime Minister Benjamin Atanielle telling his security cabinet that there's really no need for a war cabinet anymore now that General Benny gonz has departed. The government in that smaller form was part of the agreement with GANS. Now that is, of course just the official line. But if we read between those

lines, what we see is that Benjamin Antanniel is doing two things. One, he is sidelining the far right ministers who had said to him, Gnce is leaving. Great, there's a seat open in the war cabinet. You better give us that seat or we're going to pull out of the government. The government will fall, You'll be out of power. So n'tannielle avoided that political fight, which would have been difficult for him domestically as well, And

he said, who needs the war cabinet? Right? He can just consult now on an ad hoc basis with his defense minister and other security officials, make decisions and then bring some of them to the wider security cabinet where the far right are there with other parties in the coalition. So this is an attempt to really sideline those far right ministers who are both a domestic political problem

for Natenniel and also diplomatically. I mean, these are far right ministers who for example, oppose the seats fire, believe it military reoccupation of the Gaza Strip. Some of them want to resettle the Gaza Strip, others want to evict or expel Palestinians. So this is a way for him to keep that

at bay. The other thing it did, of course, which is very characteristic of N'taennielle, is that it gives him now more control and power over the direction of the war, the messaging of the war, and for the Israeli public and for journalists, it's going to be more difficult to find out what is really happening inside the government and the decisions that are on the table and how they're being made. So moving forward, then you said he'll have

more control, so basically he can make the decisions on his own. Well, he had to. Prior to this, he had to kind of contend with not only his Defence Minister, but General Bennigance, who is the third. There were really three people in charge of the war decisions. Now there's two. But the Defense Minister, you know, is sometimes the lines of

N'atenniell, sometimes not. And it'll be easier for Natoniell to push his agenda, and that may include not showing as much flexibility else these fire talks and negotiations, General Begance and others believed that Natonniel had not done enough showed enough flexibility, that his remarks during negotiations had set those chances for success back, and there's disagreements about the post war plan for Gaza and what's happening in the

North, where we've seen a really a dangerous escalation at the end of last week. I mean, in three days we saw has qualifire four hundred and over four hundred and fifty different kinds of rockets and missiles and drones at northern Israel, and Israel fired back as well. There were another maybe two hundred counter tax But this is a very dangerous escalation. And Nataniell is kind of

delaying what to do about the North. Okay, every time you say something, it just goes oh, wait, I want to ask her about this. I want to ask her about this. So one, I think it's interesting that he has been taking heat for, you know, doing too much, being too aggressive, attacking too hard in the Gaza strip, but the far right ministers want to go even farther, it sounds like. So it's interesting because he's in trouble for it. But if he wasn't in place,

it could be even more extreme. Something to think about, that's right, it could be. And then what does Betty Benny gans do next? So he's left the war cabinet, does he want to take over the government. That's a good question. So General Benny gans is now going to work inside the halls of Parliament and on the streets of Israel to try to bring this government down and go to early elections. That means he needs to try to

peel off some of the members of Natagia's coalition. Right now, he has a sixty four feat majority, so either you know, Gons needs to either pull an entire party out or four members where the government would lose its majority and therefore wouldn't be able to really make any decisions, and that would force the Knesset to dissolve and go to early elections. That's what Benny Gonson is going to do. He'll work in coordination with the head of the opposition.

Yet you're lapede and you know many believe that Natagna who won't be able to stay in power for more than a few more months. Okay, well, we'll be watching to see what happens. Gosh, government things are always so ever born day, I know, right, and it's just so interesting because there's always, like we've talked about, there's this onion and you just keep pulling back more layers. We're glad we have you here to help us feel them back. Jor Dana, thank you, thank you so much. Tuxin

talk soon. Let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. A pro Palestinian camp at cal State LA has been taken down. The university said negotiations were no longer possible after protesters took over and vandalized a building with the school president inside. This man stepped out of the camp before police rolled in and says, protesters just want the school to stop supporting a genocide. It's damage control, you know, we want

It's a pretty simple issue. We just want less people to die. Police what the camp around one pm yesterday without having to make any arrests. The school's president says the camp was allowed to stay for forty days while it remained peaceful until protesters crossed the line last week. Chris Adler kf I News. last night between the witness and the alleged burglar before the stabbing. Police say the is being investigated as a homicide. LA County's metro system says it had more than twenty seven million riders in May. Official say it was the eighteenth consecutive month of year over year growth. Official say there was also a surge in weekend writers because of special events including the Cruel World Music Festival, Pride

celebrations, and soccer and baseball games. State officials say California is running out of license plate numbers. The DMB says there are only about eighteen months worth of plate numbers left under the current system. The agency decided late last year on a new sequence for plates. The current sequence was created back in the nineteen eighties. And Nationwide is dropping its insurance for pets. Nationwide Pet is the country's largest provider of pet insurance, or it was. An off duty Secret Service agent has been

The agent fired shots at the robber, but the robber got away. Some of the agents stolen items have been recovered and he was not hurt. An attempted murder suspect to escaped from a jail in Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday has been taken back into custody, officials say.

Twenty nine year old Deshaun Stamps was picked up late yesterday afternoon in Hollywood. Cheap supersonic air travel is closer to reality as Boom SuperSonics CEO opened a new jet production facility in Greensboro, North Carolina. Blake Schul said yesterday he dreams of making people able to fly anywhere in the world in four hours for one hundred dollars.

He didn't say when these supersonic planes would be ready to take flight. At six five, it's handle on the news, got a whole lot of heat, but lucky for us, it's not here right now. Let's say good morning to the host of How to Money on KFI, Joel lars Gard. Joel, We've got a lot of people planning for summer vacations and throughout the rest of the year, and apparently a lot of them are going to go into debt to do it. Oh yeah, that brings one small tier to

my face. It's the worst thing ever me hearing this. I love. I want I encourage people to take time off to take their vacation. The average American does not take much of their vacation time, and there are a lot of vacation time and it's like that's a perk, that's part of your compensation. Take the time off, but don't go into debt for the vacation

you want to take. And you're right. There was a new lending Tree study in the specific we found about people who are going to Disney parks who have kids under the age of eighteen and something close to half of those people are taking on debt for that trip. They're taking on close to two thousand dollars in Disney related debt just to be able to take their kids to the

park this summer. And I get that that's something you want to do, but especially with credit card rates interest rates where they're at, that has become a much more expensive proposition. You might be paying off that trip for a long time to come. Okay, So because you said that, you encourage people to do these vacations, and of course I encourage anybody to go to

Disneyland. Tell us, like, what are a couple of things that you could do to plan a little bit better so you don't have to actually go into debt, Like do you set aside fifty bucks a month or how do

you do it? That's exactly right. Yeah, it's kind of what's known as a sinking fund, and so you have a budget for most of your daily life, right, It's like, okay, cool, here's how much we typically spend on food in a given month, on eating out, on our car, on our transportation expenses, on our mortgage and repairs, and

so you're budgeting for all those things. But sometimes the things that get left out of the budget are the one off items, the things that maybe you do once a year, And I love the idea of kind of planning ahead for those things too, And so a sinking fund is a way to say, cool, what do we think we're going to spend when it comes to

vacation. When it comes to travel, there are ways to bring down the cost too, right so especially with like with paying for points or something with points for a flight that could help dramatically reduce the cost of your travel. But let's say you're just going down the street to Disneyland, then you want

to start planning ahead for that. If the average person is taking out two thousand dollars a year in debt to fund this trip, we'll work backwards from that and say, okay, how long will it take me to save this up? Make sure you have the cash to pay for it, just because again, with those interest rates like soaring, I hate the idea of you taking on the debt paying even more for it over time. It looks like

it's two thousand bucks. But then at the end of the day, when you've paid interest rates and taken a long time to pay it off, you've paid a whole lot more than that, and I think it just taints the trip too, like the debt overhanging your head, like it makes the planning feel more onerous, It makes the trip feel a little less joyful. When you can pay for it in cash, you have that kind of like free and clear mindset, and it just I think allows you to be in the

moment a little more with the trip, enjoying it. But yeah, planning ahead and then breaking it out into small amounts, like a weekly or bi weekly amount that you're trying to save so that then when the trip actually rolls around, it's like, oh, yeah, I've got the money for that. I've been socking it away. You can use a separate savings account.

You can use some savings accounts like all I have these things called buckets, and I really like that because then you can like toss money in with regularity automatically into a separate bucket. You call it your vacation fund or your Disney fund or whatever it is, whatever it is you're saving for. But having that plan ahead of time is the way to go. I like that idea

because like, if you're just putting it into your savings account. It's all co mingled and you see it as one like one big lump sum as opposed to that specific bucket. That's a cool idea, and that's on ally Bank has those. Ally Bank has that. I think there's a couple other banks that offer something like a savings bucket or a partitioned place to put some savings

to save for specific goals. The other thing that the survey found the number one surprise cost of Disney goers was concessions, and I think most people don't really well, I realized that's part of the fun too, Like you don't want to like spend your whole day at Disney and never eat something there,

only bring your own food or go hungry. But the truth is, I don't know if most people you can bring food into the park, food and drinks, So make sure you bring some of your own stuff to at least cut down on the amount of food that you need to eat, because if you don't bring anything and you're just at the mercy of the food prices at Disney, you are going to spend more than you thought. So I like

the idea. Sure, yeah, pick a meal to eat out, but then also and maybe get one of those popcorn buckets where they'll refill it for two bucks or whatever it is, but then bring some of your own stuff along too, so that you're not just like constantly forking money over for food. There. Yeah, that's what we do. If we're doing a multi day. Like when my family came down, we brought like, you know, we brought our snacks and our trail mix and that kind of stuff,

and then decided one day we're going to do the Disney food. But the other days, like we brought our own breakfast food and we brought our own things in and then treated ourselves one day. So it's sort of a compromise of doing it. See Amy, you know what's up. You're doing it right. I only know what it's up when it comes to Disney. Okay, so you say that a good way to save money is to shout more. Oh so, yeah, so this is something This is becoming more and

more of a phenomenon as food prices have risen. People are saying, you know what, I used to be just super loyal. I'd go to the closest grocery store to me, or the closest discount grocery store to me, or something like that. And now people are saying, you know, I think I'm going to save more by hitting up multiple places instead of just visiting one particular grocery store. And I think, I think that's actually really smart. And I get that that's extra time, that's potentially extra travel time.

Depending on where you live. How far is that discount grocery store from you, how far is in all they or whatever from where you live. That's going to make a difference in whether or not you choose to do that. But I think, yes, the number of people visiting multiple stores in order to save money on groceries has has gone up significantly, and I think this

is a good thing. There's actually a cool website called flip flipp dot com and most of us don't get the newspaper, at least in the same way we use two on the weekends newspaper in years, I know, and then ruffling through the sales the flyers to see what the discounts are at different grocery stores. Like that's the thing in the past. It's gone digital and so

flip dot com fl i pp or you can download the app. Well, you pop in your zip code and you'll see all of the flyers in one place, and it's just easier to kind of plan ahead and say, Okay, the discount's over at Trader Joes this week or this or and just kind of like maybe come up with your grocery list ording to what's on sale where.

And I think this can be a conundrum because I hate the idea of driving five extra miles to save five cents a gallon on gas, right, And this could turn into that you probably don't want to hit up like eight different stores, but you might want to partition it between two or maybe even three include a third. Depends on what your shopping schedule looks like. And

I guess the other thing too. At first, I was really against some of the food delivery apps like Instacart because I didn't like how much they cost. And I still think you have to be thoughtful about that, but if it allows you to stick to your list, one of the number one reasons people spend extra money at the grocery store is because they're there and they're hungry, and they buy the things that they didn't need that weren't on the list,

and that can inflate your grocery build too. So I don't mind the idea of actually, if you build, especially if you just like do the pickup instead of the delivery, that's less expensive, and so yeah, maybe think about doing that instead. It'll help you stick to your list, maybe not spend as much as you thought you were going or as much as you typically do because of the fact that when you go in the story end up spending more than you planned on. Okay, our editor Carlo just sent me

a note and said he's giving away my flip secret. Oh she knows about flips. Oh yes, it's legit, but it's okay because more people can use it. It's not like finding a secret entrance into Disneyland, you know. It's not like finding a great band and then they get popular and then you know it's not cool anymore. All right, Joel Larsgard, it is sure cool to talk to you because you have such great advice for us on

money. And you can find out more on how to money with Joel Larsgard on Sundays from noon to two right here on KFI, and you can also follow Joel for more money tips at how to Money. Joel. Thank you, Joel Larsgard. Thanks Amy. All right, take care. A woman has been shot on a foothill transit bus on the ten Freeway in Baldwin Park. CHP says two men got into an argument on the bus around six last night. The bus driver pulled over one of the guys then fired shots,

hitting the woman, who was not involved in the fight. The shooter took off and hasn't been found. The woman is expected to be okay. Hunter Biden has uploaded an appeal in federal court in Delaware, then quickly withdrew it. Biden's lawyers haven't said why it was filed and withdrawn. The president's son was found guilty of illegally buying and possessing a gun while he was addicted to drugs. A sentencing date has not yet been set. The White House claims

videos showing President Biden in a bad light are so called deep fakes. White House spokesperson Corne Jean Pierre said a video from the president's fundraiser in La on Saturday night that appears to show him frees up before former President Obama grabs his arm and leads him off stage was just two good friends walking off stage at six oh five is handle on the news. Russia and North Korea's leaders are getting pretty chummy. Why we should worry about that. Let's say good morning

now to ABC's Karen Travers. Karen, the President is planning to make some new proposals to deal with illegal immigrants today. Yeah, he's announcing two new executive actions that are aimed at streamlining the process which undocumented spouses and children apply for lawful permanent residents. One of the policies he's announcing today is going to allow non citizen spouses married to US citizens to apply to live and work in

the US legally without having to leave the country. Non citizen children of these applicants would also be eligible for these protections. This is not the Dreamers. That's the next policy I'll get into. Yeah. So, under current law, some undocumented migrants must first leave the US and apply for legal residency from their home countries when they marry a US citizen, and sometimes that can take

up to ten years. So under this these spouses would be given three years to apply for a green card, get a temporary work permit, and be shielded from deportation in the meantime. The White House says the goal of this is family unity, keeping families together while their process plays out. So that the spouse is not back in their home country waiting for that visa to come

through the w work visa. The second part of it, though, is impacting some Dreamers, the documented immigrants brought to the US's children who are now adults. They will be able to get employment based non immigrant visas more quickly if they've graduated from an accredited higher education institution here in the US and have a high skilled job offer from an American employer. So that's because of their education and because of a job offer, they can get this visa much more

quickly now, okay. And then so the second part, as you mentioned, that is for the Dreamers, and does this create a path to citizenship? This does not. This is specifically for employment based non immigrant visas, okay, And what kind of numbers are we talking about talking about for the first part, about half a million spouses who would be eligible and about fifty

thousand children of those spouses. Don't have an estimate in terms of how many people would be eligible under that second one, because it depends on how many people have that education require and have a job offer. But I gotta leave it, Bear and Jump, I know you do. Thank you so much. Karen Drivers appreciate it. Let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. LA school District campuses could become

phone free zones. The school board is sent to vote today on whether to create a program to ban phones in schools and social media during certain hours of the day. Current rules technically ban the tech, but they're not enforced. If the board approves, new policies could roll out when students return from winter break in January. News brought to you by Semper Selaris. The Riverside County Fire Department is going to be doing a controlled burn to get rid of ten

acres of brush on the north end of Lake Matthew's. Officials say the burn will begin around seven this morning and we'll continue into early afternoon. The fire department says smoke is going to be visible to motorists and area residents, and people should not be alarmed. The controlled burns are going to continue for a couple more days after today. A man who sent death threats to California Democratic

congres Woman Maxine Walters in LA has been sent to federal prison. Brian Gaierty admitted to leaving four voicemails at Waters district office saying he would shoot her, cut her throat, and stomp on her. A federal judge in La yesterday sentence Guarrity to thirty three months in prison and find them ten grand with a hate crime enhancement. The judge said Gaierty targeted Waters, who's black over her race. Garrity is from Texas and made the calls in August and November of

twenty twenty two. He pleaded guilty in January in downtown LA. Michael Monks KFI News, a hairstylist from Fresno, has been sentenced to nearly sixteen years in federal prison for defrauding an ophthalmologist from Malibu out of nearly three million dollars, then trying to steal another twenty million from the man's estate when he died. A judge in La chastised Anthony Flora's yesterday before sentencing. Flora's pleaded guilty

last year to nine felony charges for his role in the scheme. His ex girlfriend, Ann A More, pleaded guilty to seven felony charges in the same case. A study done in China has found people who are sedentary but drink coffee have a twenty four percent lower chance of early death. That's good news for me. That's compared to the people who sit for six hours at a

time without coffee. Researchers found that sitting for more than eight hours a day was linked to an eighty percent higher risk of death from a heart problem. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is testified in the class action lawsuit filed in LA against

the league's Sunday ticket package. The lawsuit claims the league used its agreements with broadcast partners to control telecast distribution, which allowed Direct TV to hike prices for Sunday ticket Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is also expected to testify this week. The lawsuit seeks seven billion dollars in damages to subscribers. Hey, you getting

enough sleep? A recent Gallup poll found fifty seven percent of Americans say they would feel better if they could get more sleep, but the flip side is only forty two percent are getting as much sleep as they need. The Gallup pool found that younger women under the age of fifty were especially likely to report that they aren't getting enough rest. Yeah, I remember those days of not getting enough rest. I'm trying to be better about it, but it's tough.

So only twenty six percent of us get eight hours or more sleep? Do you cono? No, So that's three days worth of sleep. I don't get eight. I try for six plus an app and then half reported getting six to seven hours, So I'm in the half there, and then twenty percent cono get five hours? Are less? And do you know why? Because, according to this researcher, the shift in the last decade toward more people thinking that they would benefit from more sleep, and particularly the jump

in the number of those saying they get five hours less. So people say they want to get more, but more people are getting less. Sleep is a good thing, but not now. It's time to get up and get going. Police have cleared a pro Palestinian encampment at CSULA, days after demonstrators took over and trashed the Student Services building. No arrests were made yesterday as

the camp was cleared. President Beerencia Johnson Eanes said in a statement released yesterday, we will not negotiate with those who would use destruction and intimidation to meet their goals. President Biden's hosting an event at the White House, where he's going to announce a new policy to allow almost a half million illegal immigrants spouses of US citizens an opportunity to get work permits and shield them from deportation for

at least ten years. A red flag warnings in effect along the I five corridors through the mountains until six pm because of strong winds and low humidity. We're just minutes away from Handle. On the news this morning, a new vision for an area in southern California that's two and a half times the size of New York's Central Park and right now has a whole lot more concrete. Let's say good morning right now to ABC's Stephen Portnoy. Stephen. Last week,

the Supreme Court's struck down a ban on bump stocks. Today, the Senate's going to take it up. Yeah, I mean, look a Senate Leader, Chuck Schumer is going to go to the Senate floor today and ask for unanimous consent to pass a law, a bill that would ban bump stocks. Because remember last week, the Supreme Court struck down the ATF's rule banning

bump stocks. The High Court said that if Congress wants to pass the law, it can, But what the ATF can't do is apply a nineteen thirties era law to a more modern device that allows for the rapid firing of a semi automatic weapon with a single pull of a trigger. Justice Clarence Thomas disputed the characterization of how bump stocks work, and Samuel Alito and his concurrent said, listen, if the ATF hadn't acted under Donald Trump in twenty eighteen,

it's a good chance Congress would have done it itself. Well, I don't know about that. And so today Chuck Schumer is going to put that to the test. He's going to go to the floor and seek unanimous consent, which any one Republican can block. Okay, So Stephen, why does it

have to be unanimous? Doesn't have to be unanimous. It's just that's the way that Chuck Schumer wants to go out doing it, because what he'll be able to say is if any single Republican senator objects, and we do expect that Chuck Schumer will be able to turn to the American people and say, see, here's what Democrats would do if only Republicans wouldn't get in the way. It's not the end of the story. There is the idea that if

you get enough support for a bill, you can overcome a filibuster. But the first example that Chuck Schumer's going to use to illustrate Republican opposition to it is this unanimous consent request. Aha. Okay, so we're playing political a little bit, but you would think that he has a pretty solid argument to convince Republicans to go along because it was a Trump backed ban, Well, you'd think, and that, listen, Republicans are got to answer for that.

Why it is that, you know, they a Republican president, through

his ATF would have put this forward, and Republican lawmakers object. They may have their own reasons, and I don't want to put words in their mouth because frankly, I don't know what those reasons are, but I imagine it might have something to do with the Second Amendment, and it might have something to do with the idea that perhaps the real issue with gun violence isn't these devices or any gun, but something more, you know, something broader.

But look, these devices were used to kill sixty people in Las Vegas in twenty seventeen, deadliest mass shooting in history, and in the immediate aftermath of that, Donald Trump directed his ATF to ban these devices, and only now years later, as the Supreme Court committed and said, no, that's really not how they should work. It really should be incombon upon the people's elected representatives in Congress. And now that's going to be put to the test.

Okay, And I know we only have you for a few more seconds. But he's working on something else too, Schumer. I'm sure he's working on many things. Do you have something in the reproductive rights in shining enshrining the reproductive rights? Ah? Got it? Yes? Well, so this is all part of an effort on a Democrat's part to say that Republicans are standing

in the way of reproductive freedom, access to abortion. And I expect that it'll be used through the summer and into the fall to generate Democratic voter support because we have an election coming up. Thank you so much, ABC, Stephen Portnoy, appreciate it, you bet. All right, let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom.

Laped officers spotted him last night near for More and Hawthorne Avenues in Hollywood, trying to figure out how he got out and also

We have about ten thousand provider contracts. Cal Optima CEO Michael Hunt says state budget cuts are likely to impact medical Given the headwinds of the state budget, we needed to move now in order to ensure that we had an adequate network of providers across Orange County. Hunts has one million people,

or a third of Orange County, are covered by Kloptima. He says the eight percent rate increase for thirty months will ensure hospitals, physician groups, behavioral health providers and more keep serving Kaloptima members in Orange County. Corbin Carson KFI News. The La County Health Department has reported an increase of ten new cases of MPOs in the past two weeks, up from a county wide average

a fewer than two cases a week for several weeks. Mpox, which used to be called monkey pox, is mainly spread through close contact with body fluids, sores, shared bedding or clothing, or respiratory droplets. Sweet Alice Harris founded Parents of Watts back in the sixties following riots in

Online passport renewals. The State Department has launched a beta program so you can renew your passport

online instead of sending it off to the Passport office. So the program is going to begin accepting a small number of online applications each day, and then as they kind of work their way through it, they'll increase that number ramp it up as they go on to make sure that they can handle the influx of it. The State Department wants to make sure it can track any issues that arise and address them quickly and continuously to improve the experience for American people.

Eligible applicants if you want to try this, twenty five and older must live in the United States or one of its territories currently hold a passport that was issued between two thousand and nine and twenty fifteen, and I would imagine

there's more information on the State department website. But also one word of caution, do make sure if you're going to apply to renew your password online that you leave enough time between application and travel, because officials say that once the online application for renewal is submitted, the old passport will be canceled and you won't be able to use it to travel internationally. So that looks like there's going to be a bit of a gap, but I like that online passport

renewlds make it easier. This is KFI and KOST HD two Los Angeles, Orange County. We lead local live from the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. I'm Amy King.
