You're listening to KFI AM six forty wake Up Call with me Amy King on demand on the iHeartRadio app KFI and KOST HD two Los Angeles, Orange County. And it's time for your morning wake up call. Here's Amy King. It's five o'clock. This is your wake up call for Friday, March twenty ninth. Good morning, I'm Amy King. So I'm kind of basking in the Dodgers big seven to one win over Saint Louis yesterday at the season home

opener Dodger Stadium. Weather was absolutely perfect, Like there were clouds around the peripheral areas of southern California, but right over Dodger Stadium it was sunny and beautiful and it was very cool. They do, you know, big ceremonies for opening day, and they had the players walk down not their red carpet, but the blue carpet from the outfield as they were introduced by Brian Cranston.

That was kind of fun, and of course the crowd went The crowd went wild for several several players, you know Mookie Bets of course he's huge right now. And Clayton Kershaw, who wasn't in the starting lineup yesterday, but still you know, fan favorite and of course our new Dodger show. Hey, Josh Grobin did the national anthem and it culminated with an F fifteen and a K one thirty five flyover, So you got the fighter jets, the little ones, and then this K one thirty five. I think it's

a I think it's a refueling plane. It's a big old plane. That was cool, and the crowd of course went wild for show. Hey, so I got his first at bat on video and if you haven't seen it, or you didn't see it or you didn't hear it on A five seventy yesterday, you can check it out on my instagram at Amy K. King. It was so fun. He hits the ball off the he goes, Mookie's already on base, he's running and the crowd's going wild, and then he gets picked off. I think it's called a pickle play. He got

stuck between second and third base because Mookie didn't run for home. So anyway, it was very fun. Again, that's on my instagram at Amy K. King. I invite you to go take a look at it. Here's what's ahead on wake Up Call Easter weekend is going to be a wet one. Forecasters say a storm moving through is going to dump a couple of inches of rain on southern California, with the strongest rain expected tomorrow. Snow's possible

about five thousand feet. Fourteen people have been hurt in a metro bus crash with at least two other cars. The crash happened yesterday afternoon near Lamert Park. Nine of the people hurt were taken to the hospital. President Biden held a star studded fundraiser in New York City last night. We're gonna be talking with ABC's Karen Travers in just a couple of minutes to find out who was there, how much people paid, and how how much the Biden campaign raked

in for his reelection. At five point fifty, Jason Nathanson says, it's going to be a monster weekend at the box office, Like really a monster weekend. Also, what's new on the stream At six oh five, it's handle on the news the Biden administration is sending millions of dollars to Maryland because of the bridge collapse. Let's get started with some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. The La County DA says two men

accused of murdering a man at LA Live have been arrested. Investigators say the shooting death of Barrett Morris while he was eating at a restaurant at LA Live last November shocked the community. After arresting Morris's two accused killers this week, LA County District Attorney George Gascone says he has a message for residents and visitors. It is safe to go to LA Life. This was a very targeted event. LAPD Assistant Chief Blake Chow also stressed Morris's killing was not a random

act of violence. I wanted to assure the public that they are safe together and dining at LA Live. Philip Clark and Santa Anna Kelly have been charged with murder Michael Monks KFI News. A new poll shows Americans are more worried about immigrants committing crimes in the US than they were a few years ago. About four and ten say legal immigration to the US is beneficial to the economy

and culture, but that sentiment is down since twenty seventeen. The Associated Press Nork Center for Public Affairs Research found Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say immigration is an important issue for them personally. The number of immigrants transferred to ICE for deportation by Orange County sheriff as spiked twelve hundred percent in the last

year. Nobody is saying release folks. Early OC Supervisor Vincent Sarmiento says the state sanctuary law prevents local law enforcement from cooperating with ICE on non violent crimes to protect their rights. Plus, it's whether or not this county should serve a federal function. Oh C Sheriff Don Barnes told supervisors Tuesday he understands the passion for inmate rights, but none of the speakers both get out the victims

and families who are impacts. Barnes says the spike from seventeen transfers in twenty twenty two to two hundred and twenty last year was entirely up to ICE. In Orange County. Corbin Carson kaf I News. Christians are celebrating Good Friday. It commemorates the day Jesus died on the Cross. Some churches set up a wooden cross for people to meditate in front of it. Others make the stations of the Cross, which is a devotion that recalls the journey of Jesus

to his crucifixion. For a lot of Christians, Good Fridays also a day of fasting and penance. Now, let's say good morning too, ABC's Karen Travers, So, Karen, President Biden raised a whole lot of money last night with a little help from his friends. It was a significant amount of

money, with some help from some pretty high profile friends. You might have heard of them before, former President Bill Clinton and Barack Obama on stage last night together with Joe Biden, raising twenty six million dollars at a star studied

fundraiser at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The Biden campaign says this was a historic night, the single most amount of money raised at a single event like that, and that they raised more in one night at that event than Donald Trump raised all last month in February, so pretty significant for them. They are really trying to lean into this fundraising advantage they have, and they're

hoping that this gives them a little boost of energy too. And also just good to have the former presidents out there touting the Biden message, getting them to try to rev up Democratic voters and independent voters as well, but you know, it was a night where they were talking about the former president and what his second term could be in the White House, but also trying to highlight Joe Biden's record and energize voters around that. Yeah, and Obama's still

the draw. I mean, you know, yeah, I don't think Biden would have even with the stars, he wouldn't have drawn that. But an event last fall, I think it was on Broadway and it was a pretty big night with the First Lady and the President and Broadway stars. When the President was up there for the United Nations, but obviously bringing Barack Obama, bringing Bill Clinton. That really ups the glam quite a bit there too. And people were paying from two hundred and twenty five dollars to a half million

dollars for VIP packages. What did they taken? Photos taken little VIP time with the presidents. I think there was a you get your picture taken by any Lebowitz if you paid a certain amount of money, so you know, if you put out enough with the checkbook, you could get a little special access. But you know, there were no cameras allowed into Radio City Music Hall for it last night. People in the room could record all they wanted on their phones. Reporters were allowed in like we are for all of the

fundraisers the president does. But you're not going to see a lot of clips of it officially from news media, but you'll probably see some you know, grainy cell phone video of it instead. But interestingly, you know, we did get full report of what was said, and like I said, it was really about making the case against a Donald Trump's second term, but also trying to highlight what they say were President Biden's achievements over the last couple of

years. Barack Obama said, it's not just the negative case against the presumptive nominee. On the other side, he said that without ever saying Donald Trump's name, they're so funny because they just won't say his name. I know, it is interesting, you know, And Joe Biden is doing it more now than he was a couple of weeks ago, but he does it only in certain settings, Like he doesn't do it at the official events, he says my predecessor, the campaign events, he'll say Donald Trumps. He really

is able to process the difference of those two different types of events. But I think, you know, the former presidents were trying to be careful of not saying it explicitly last night. Yeah, okay, So while they were getting ready for that fundraiser, former President Trump was at the funeral for that NYPD officer who was shot and killed, Yeah, by a guy who's been

arrested like twenty times. Was there? I mean, obviously at the fundraiser there wasn't any bad vibes, But overall, is that sort of a bad look that he's at a fundraiser and the former president's helping pay respects to a fallen police officer. I mean, I think if you, I think maybe some were making it out to be. I think the campaign wasn't responding on that. They know, I'm not going to ragh In on what they would

say about that. We could ask them about that. But you know, one thing I will note that ifyone's kind to say about, like the vibes at the event, there were a lot of protests actually at the fundraiser. And this is certainly something you and I have talked about before at other events of the president getting interrupted at events. There were protesters outside and there were some inside interrupting, Yeah, interrupting the program. I think it was at

least six times, talking about genocide, talking about aid to Gaza. At one point Barack Obama was interrupted while he was speaking about Gaza, and he kind of interrupted back and said, no, listen, you can't just talk and not listen. And he got a standing over for that. Yeah, and just think those guys had to pay so they could protest. Interesting. All right, Karen Travis, thank you so much. Have a wonderful weekend and happy Easter. Thank you very much. Have a great weekend you too.

All right, let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. La Mayor Bass has announced the expansion of her policy to use more land owned by the city to build housing for homeless people. Homeless advocate Ted Hayes says that strategy is not going to work. Karen Bass knows better geo politically, gelf physically, there is no place to

build housing, even on public property. Even if you did put a few people in some kind of housing by government money, where do they go from there? In Los Angeles, Hey says the way to cut down on the number of people on the streets is to move them to federal land voluntarily. Bass also says the city's going to tow store and get rid of surrendered vehicles

in an effort to break up RV encampments. Bass says in the future, her updated policy is going to help establish sites for her safe RV parking and connect people living in RVs with services. Baele County Health Department has released its tri annual report on the health and well being of people throughout the county. The random sampling of people from different ages and background shows more than one in five Asian adults had thoughts of suicide, the highest percentage of all racial and

ethnic groups. Rashmishakiri's the county's chief science officer, and says stats also show a disproportionate number of Black adults with high blood pressure. Adults eighteen years an older who reported ever being diagnosed with hypertension or high blood pressure has gone up and continues to go up. The report also noted more than fifty percent of the people living below the federal poverty line consume more sugary drinks and fast food

than those above the poverty line. Steve Gregory, King of I News, it's Friday morning, and of course there's so much going on all over southern California. How do you know what to go to, where to see, what things to see? Fun events. That's why we have our buddy Nick Pouliochini. He has a podcast and also a website. This weekend with Nick and Uh, We've got long lists of things to do on a lot of weekends, but we just want you to share with us the top picks for

the weekend. So here's Nick's top picks for this weekend, starting with Nick. Wonder Con. Yes, we're gonna be heading off to Anaheim and the Anaheim Convention Center. We've got so many things going on this weekend with the Easter upon us, but wonder Con is one of those events that is super exciting because if you're familiar with Comic Con down in San Diego, that kind of takes over the entire city and that'll be in a couple of months.

Wonder Con is its sister show that's here a little bit closer to homes. So is it the same the same basic thing. It's all commed, relatively speaking, it's all comics. There is a lot of a lean in here into anime. So if you lyre into anime from Japan and from manga and everything else, to that effect. This definitely has a little bit more focus on that. Where it's Comic Con in San Diego, you see a lot of brands that are putting out, you know, their new TV shows that

are coming on. That still happens here wonder Con for maybe the summer season, things that are going to be coming on, where Comic Con focuses on what's coming up for the fall. But wonder Con is a little bit smaller, but it's still pretty massive, and it takes over the Anaheim Convention Center

just south of the Disneyland resort. So if you are headed over to Disneyland this weekend, it's gonna be extra special for your Easter Holiday weekend because there's just so much going on there, being able to check out cool merchandise, new shows that are coming for the summer season, and be able to celebrate shows that maybe you've really enjoyed for many, many years. So wonder Con is one of those things that's definitely worth checking out for this weekend. And

it also is going to be a beautiful weekend. Hopefully we'll see how the weather holds up, but it's gonna be crazy, yeah, I know, Well that's what I'm saying you want you want fun activities to go to that are going to be inside, and so one hundred years of Arts at the

Balboa Theater down in San Diego celebrating. So the Balboa Theater is one of those original classic movie houses that had many performances back well over the last hundred years, but this is one of those in San Diego that really has been a draw and so it's well five oh one c three charity, So it's

an event to support the arts down in San Diego. But they've got one hundredth anniversary gala that has already taken place, but they're celebrating the centennial of the military in San Diego, and so that's why it's really exciting because tonight at seven o'clock there's a special screening of The Flying Fleet, which is a silent film that has a full orchestra that will be supporting that. So there's

that fun activity. And then if you're looking for something fun to do in the morning, I want to take a little trip down to San Diego. Ten am. It's gonna be tunes with two o's and tunes with un ees, So it's gonna be those old classic cartoons for Saturday morning with a full orchestra once again that'll be accompanying them. So it'll be a really fun and different experience for you to get out with the family and go experience a little bit of fun in San Diego. Okay, all in a beautiful theater and

then we're gonna have just speeding you along because we're running late. But I want to get this one in the Dragon Marsh. So Dragon Marsh fifteenth the annual Marshmallow Peep Show, and it's gonna be nothing glacious but celebrating seventy one years of peeps, you know, the cute little marshmallow creatures that Handle loves them. He goes crazy. Needs to go to Riverside because that's a whole

event. So you can get more about this and so much else at this week when Nick dot com, or you can check out the Bio Lincoln Bio at Nick pollio'chanean this weekend with Nick on Instagram. There you go where you can find out all the fun things to do around Southern California this weekend with Nick. Thank you Nick. An atmospheric river storm is headed to southern California,

with heavy rain expected to start falling after midnight Tonight. Forecasters say one to two and a half inches of rain could fall in the valley and coastal areas, three to five inches as possible in the foothills and mountains. The Biden administration has approved sixty million dollars in emergency relief funds for Maryland following the

collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The money is going to go towards managing ongoing disruptions to traffic supply chains and is the first step in a joint effort to reconstruct the fallen bridge. Fast food prices are to be hiked starting Monday, when the state's minimum wage for fast food workers goes up to twenty bucks an hour At six so five at tandle on the News, President Biden just raised twenty five million dollars for his campaign, thanks to a little help

from his friends. Let's say good morning now. To ABC's Jim Ryan, speaking of the president, seventy percent don't want a Biden Trump rematched, seventy percent of Americans don't want to see this race. Well, then, maybe out of a lock. It looks as though those two President Biden and former President Trump will be the nominee's for the two major parties, leaving people with little choice. For I mean, what are you going to do right in

literally anybody else? Well, yeah, you could do that. There's a guy could and there's a guy here in Dallas forworth. He's a seventh grade math teacher, an army vat thirty five years old. Thirty five makes you old enough constitutionally to run for the president. Is his name? He was born Dustin Ebe. That was his name at birth, and it was until he changed his name recently too, legally changed its name to literally anybody else,

literally anybody else. So is anybody his middle name now literally anybody? Last name else, first name literally and middling anybody And so yeah, I mean, the way to get onto the ballot without necessarily getting onto the ballot. But he's out campaign. He's serious about this, he says, I mean, his goal is to be a protest candidate, to make a point

about people's dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. In real terms, he has to gather up one hundred and thirteen thousand signatures from Texas people from Texans who didn't vote in the primary to get his name on the general election ballot. Barring that, people anywhere in the country, including in California, I suppose could just write in literally anybody else on the November ballot, but below the names Biden and Trump. Well, he obviously doesn't have a shot.

But like you said, it is a sign of the frustration of the electorate. And it happens every year. Somebody runs just to make a point about something, to get their message out. His message is simply about voter dissatisfaction, and it's catching a little traction, if not votes, at least some attention. Are pollsters and the people who watch voters and what they're going to

do. Are they showing any indication that the discussed with these two candidates or not the discust necessarily, but just the sort of indifference or dislike for them is going to drive down voter turnouts. Yeah. Absolutely. The poll that came out just two days ago, this was an AP NORC poll that came out in Unsay, Chicago, about four inten adults are fearful about another four

years with Donald Trump as president. Three and ten feel about the same with Joe Biden, And only a quarter of the public is excited or satisfied about either candidate's reelection, and you're right, both parties are concerned that that's going to drive down the voter turnout in November, and I think almost certainly it would. People will either hold their nose and going to the god the polling

place where they'll say, forget it. I'm just going to stay home, let the chips fall where they may, and we'll see what happens four years from now. So sure, that's that's a big concern. Okay, literally, anybody else, I have a feeling he's going to get a lot of oats. Thank you, Jim Ryan, just by an accident. Probably have a wonderful weekend, Happy Easter, same to you. Here's some of the

stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. A woman who went brawless on a flight to San Francisco says she wants Delta's policy changed because she was forced to cover up. The woman filed complaints with the airline after she says a gate agent told her that her white T shirt exposing her breasts and nipples was offensive. Lisa Archbold says she was targeted and humiliated. She came to my seat and loudly asked to speak to me in private, and escorted

me off the plane as though it was a criminal. Attorney Gloria Already says Delta's policy is unlawfully discriminatory. Rest are not weapons of war, and it's not a crime for a woman or girl to have the Archbold says she was only allowed back on the plane in January after she covered her shirt. Chris Adler KAFI News. A woman suspected in the kidnapping and killing of an eight year old girl in Mexico has been beaten to death by a mob. Police

in the tourist city of tax Goo had detained the woman. The mob pulled her from a patrol car yesterday and started kicking and beating her. Her body was found on a road on the outskirts of the city. The mayor says two men were also beaten by the mob. Vice President Harris has announced a set of new AI regulations. ABC's j O'Brien says the policies will require federal agencies to demonstrate how the AI tools they use do not endanger Americans rights.

One example, the White House says travelers at airports can opt out of participating in tsa facial recognition which uses AI software, Obrien says. Under the guidelines announced yesterday, each federal agency will also have to appoint a Chief AI Officer. The officer will provide oversight in how the agency is using the technology. Today's kind of the calumn before the storm that's expected to roll into southern California tonight. We're looking at at one to two inches of rain all coast and

valleys and mountains. The rainfall rates, they're not extreme, but they are moderate to heavy on Saturday, so keep that in mind. Saturday we could see some urban flooding. National Weather Services Alex Tarti says there will also be a winter storm watch in the mountains for one to four inches of snow above five thousand feet. And Mother Nature is messing with the Easter Bunny. Santa Anita Park's annual Easter egg hunt, built as the largest in the San Gabriel

Valley, postponed because of a forecast of heavy rain. It's been rescheduled for next weekend. The spring Carnival in the Infield that was scheduled to start tomorrow will run for four days instead of eight. It'll go from April fourth through the seventh, and all horse racing has been canceled for the weekend. It'll be made up next Thursday. The Easter weekend is going to be a wet

one. Forecasters say a storm moving through is going to dump a couple inches of rain on southern California, with the strongest of the rain expected tomorrow, Snows possible above five thousand feet. Fourteen people have been hurt in a metro ro bus crash with at least two other cars. The crash happened yesterday afternoon near Lamart Park. Nine of the people hurt were taken to the hospital. President Biden has held a star studded fundraiser in New York. He was joined

on stage by former Presidents Obama and Clinton. Queen Latifa and Lizzo were among the celebrities who showed up for the sold out event at Madison Square Garden. It raked in more than twenty five million dollars for Biden's reelection campaign. At six oh five, it's handle on the news the former King of Crypto is headed to prison for a long time. At five point fifty, we're going to be checking in with Jason Nathanson, who says it's going to be a

monstrous weekend. At the box office. But right now, let's say good morning to the house whisper and the host of home right here on KFI. It's Dean Sharp. Good morning, Dean, Good morning Amy. Okay, so we got a nice cool week on the way. It's been kind of a cool winter and springs so far, but the heat's not far away. Yeah, it's true. And even it's a little bit counterintuitor because everybody's just like, hey, you can we just relax a little bit. We're just

pulling out a winter here. But you know, if you're a homeowner and you're thinking about making a big change with your heating and air conditioning system, Unfortunately, right now, right now, before the heat arrives in, you know, a couple three months now is the time to work out those details and figure it all out. So, yeah, we're talking HVAC. Okay, so you're talking about replacing your HVAC to make things run a little more smoothly in your house. This is true if you are scheduled, I mean,

if it's time. If it's time, then you may want to consider at least taking a look at what is the most cutting edge heating and air conditioning systems out there. Maybe it's not in your budget, but you know they're becoming more and more affordable. And I tell you this, in the next ten years or so, what I'm talking about today is going to become

just the standard for everybody. And what that essentially is when it comes to air conditioning, is what we call a variable speed air condition and it's brilliant. It runs almost all day long, can and again a little counterintuitive because

it also saves you a ton of money. And the reason it works that magic amy is because it's a full size air conditioner, but the variable speed means that it is it has the capacity to ratchet itself down to just putting out enough to let's say, cool a single room or two in your home.

And that is where it's magic lies, because if you combine that kind of a unit with electronic dampers that are up there closing and opening doors in your ducks, then what happens is we can get your house to temperature. Let's say we get it to a nice comfortable seventy two degrees, and you've got some hot spots and some cold spots in your house. It doesn't matter all throughout the day. It notices, oh hey, the kitchen just went

up a agree or two. It shuts down all the air flowed everywhere else in the house, ratchet itself down to a tiny little air conditioner, just touches up the kitchen, just tops off kitchen as far as bringing it to temperature, and then back to the rest of the house. And what it's doing all day long is just these little touch ups, these little top offs everywhere there is a need instead of going full on and full off all day long. And we're talking about a third of energy savings with a unit like

this. Oh wow, So it's a smart air conditioner. Who knew it's a smart air conditioner. You end up putting a sensor, not a thermostat, but a sensor in every single room in the house, and therefore it just monitors everything. And talk about uniform air temperature throughout the house. Upstairs

downstairs doesn't matter. That would be cool, because like I know that in my house, the upstairs back bedroom just is a little oven, but just because of the way the sun hits it and stuff, and the rest of the house is okay, but if you go in there, you know it's

hotter than everywhere else. So I love the idea of kind of making a uniform temperature exactly, and that's always been the classic problem with a unit that just goes full on, full off, because you know, heat rises, so upstairs is always warmer than downstairs, and the side of the house that's facing south always getting warmer even than that. And so this way it's individualized

attention exactly where it's needed. Okay, So also this winter, I noticed my furnace was on a lot and you have an idea to get rid of an old furnace, and what would you replace it with. Well, these days, especially in southern California, if again, if you're changing out your system, you really want to have a conversation with your HVAC person about possibly putting in a heat pump instead of a gas furnace, because you don't need

to keep up. A heat pump is essentially an air conditioner that works in reverse. That's the easiest way to explain it. So there is no gas, there is no furnace, there's no burners, and heat pumps work great in temperate climates like we have here in Socao, where we don't get a lot of you know, twenty something degree days. They're a milder heat, which makes them actually really lovely, and they don't disrupt allergies and allergens and

blow all of that stuff into the house as well. So generally speaking, especially in an area like California where we're electrifying everything and gas is on its way out, heat pumps are a brilliant idea solution. If you have solar on your house, it's going to save you even more energy because it's going to be part of your electric build that's already being covered by your solar.

So he pumps are an absolute reality. We can't recommend them if you live up in the mountains or if you live out in the middle of Montana where it gets down to you know, negative zero. But in southern California, even our worst winter days, a heat pump will keep you toasty and warm. Okay. Now, if we're talking about things, if you're looking at replacing these systems, if you don't need to replace your air conditioner ahead of the hot season, you say that, to take care of your HVAC,

there's one thing you gotta do. You have one job. One job. What is job? Change that filter out? Keep that filter changed. Okay, And if you have trouble remembering, and everybody does. It's always like, oh yeah, yeah, you know what. I recommend you go to a place like filter buy dot com. Filter buy dot Com. You put in your filter that your unit takes, and you get on a subscription and they will send you one every ninety days, which is about when you should

change it out. One will show up on your doorstep and you're like, huh, my filter showed up. I'll just change it out right here. And that's literally the one major thing that every homeowner should do to their HVA system. Otherwise they shouldn't fiddle with it. That's it's the one thing. It's your one job. Keep that filter clear. It's not just for you. In fact, it's not even primarily for you. It's for the health

of your system. Okay. Great Dean Sharp, thank you for the tips and for more great tips and trips on how to get your house ready for twenty first century solutions for heating and air conditioning. You canna be talking about it this weekend on Home with Dean Sharp Saturday from six to eight am, Sunday from nine to noon. Always enjoy talking to you, Dean. Thank you always a pleasure. Amy All right, Let's get back to some of

the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. The La City Ethics Commission has accused city councilman Cure and Price of conflict of interest violations. The Ethics Commission will likely hold an evidentiary hearing before it's five members will determine if the violations are valid and what penalty should be applied. Sources say the alleged violations are similar in theme to charges brought down by the La County DA's

office last year. Price has been accused of voting to support the projects of developers who paid his wife's for from twenty nineteen to twenty twenty one. Price is pleaded not guilty to the charges. A trial date has not been set yet. Price is set to return to court next month for a hearing. Blake Trolli KA Fine News. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says it is

investigating the use of force during an arrest in Hesperia. Some claim deputies used excessive force on Tuesday on an alleged armed robber they had on the ground. Video shows several deputies on top of the guy. One of them can be seen using his knee and fist to hit the man in the head. Protesters demanding a ceasefire in the Israel Hamas War of interrupted President Biden's fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall. The disruption prompted Biden to pledge to keep working to stop

civilian deaths in Gaza. Hundreds of other protesters stood outside the Madison Square Radio City Music Hall waving Palestinian flags. The event raised twenty five million dollars for Biden's re election campaign. Former Presidents Obama and Clinton We're there, and celebrities including Lizzo, Mindy Kayling, Did I Say Mizzo? Lizzo, Mindy Kayling,

and Ben Platt were also in attendance. Following a fabulous opening day seven to one win over the Cardinals, the Dodgers take on Saint Louis tonight at seven ten at Dodger Stadium. You can listen to the game on AM five seventy LA Sports and NHD on the iHeartRadio app keyword AM five seventy LA Sports brought to you in part by LA Care for All of LA. An atmospheric river storm is headed towards southern California, with heavy rain expected to start falling

after midnight. Forecasters say one to two and a half inches of rain could fall in the valley in Coastalarius, three to five inches of rain as possible in the foothills and mountains. Fast food prices are expected to go up starting on Monday. That's when the state's minimum wage for fast food workers goes up to twenty dollars an hour. Beyonce has released her latest album. It's called Cowboy Carter. The album has two twenty seven tracks, with her new country

single Texas Hold Them. Also, there's a cover of Dolly Parton's Jolene and a collaboration with Willie Nelson. She's also teamed up with pop stars Post Malone and Miley Cyrus and has a cover of the Beatles Blackbird. We're just minutes away from handle On the news this morning, President Biden's campaign just raised twenty five million bucks at a fundraiser in New York City. Former President Trump's campaign says it's going to try to beat that. Right now, let's say good

morning to ABC's Jason Nathansen. Jason, it's a battle of the beasts at the box office. Yes, Godzilla, Okay, this is where things get annoying for me already before even going into the movie Godzilla X Kong the New Empire, that's what you're supposed to say is X. I don't know. That's the thing. We've seen this pop up in titles a lot over the past couple of years, like the iPhone ten X. But that's that iPhone X. That's that's ten. This is not Godzilla ten Kong. This is

not to me. It looks like Godzilla times kongh, which I don't think is how you're supposed to say the name of this movie. Godzilla by Kong. Godzilla versus Kong was the last movie, so already I'm annoyed going into it with Godzilla X Kong the New Also, the New Empire is just lazy. That's a they could do better than that. I think this is you know, I think you know where you're gonna get here. You're gonna get a lot of Godzilla, You're gonna get a lot of Kong, a lot

more Kong, I think than Godzilla. I like better. I think I like Kong better too. And he's a little more sympathetic, especially in this movie as well. And there's a baby gorilla there is although that's another problem

with this movie, at least for a good part of it. The baby was who you know you want to be cute was annoying, more annoying than cute, at least in the when you first meet this thing, and you spend a lot of time in Hollow Earth, which I liked because that's the area between I guess it's the center of the Earth or the middle of the Earth where these creatures come from. And it's like this upside down on right side up world where there's mountains on the on the sky and waterfalls in the

air and things like that. And that's close. So it looks like Pandora. Yeah, yeah, I mean kind of, but it's it's cool looking. But also it's a lot of CGI. I mean just a lot, as you would imagine, because there are no real King Kong's or godzillas, so they have to do with the CGI. But this looks like a video game a lot of the time. I hate that. Yeah, and it was it just it Also I found as a board several times, which is shouldn't be in a movie like this. They try to be funny, which

I appreciate. I like humor, breaking up the tension. But a lot of the jokes fell flat. I think they tried a little too hard for the for the humor. So, you know, not really my thing, but it's gonna win the weekend. And if you're looking on, you know, at other critics and stuff, rotten tomatoes. Fifty six percent from critics, not great, ninety three percent from early audiences who went to see it Thursday night. So take that for what it is. Okay, Well let's

move over to the stream now. If you don't want to go to the movie theater, what can we watch at home? Sure, there's a couple of things. One of my favorite, pick my pixel, oh the week I would say, is the Drod Carmichael Reality Show, which is you don't know what drawd Carmichael Reality Show, Okay. Drod Carmichael is a comedian who a couple of years ago he won a Emmy for his HBO special in which he came out of the closet. It was it was a groundbreaking special.

It was very interesting and it was very very good and very very personal in a way we don't see comedy specials like that, okay, ever before and immediately after that, apparently he started having cameras follow him and which they did for the next eighteen months, and this is that footage. During the special, he talked a lot about his dealing with his mom and coming out and

his parents really but also really focusing on his mom. She's a very devout Christian woman and how tough that was for her in the conversations that they had and how close they were and how close they were not in this show.

Now you see their relationship and you see these really uncomfortable conversations. This show is a train wreck that you cannot stop watching, is yeah, and it is one of the most I mean again, it's it is called the Gerrod Carmichael Reality Show, so you don't you have to take that with a grain AsSalt whether or not it's real or not. But it feels more real than anything that I've ever seen before. And it's not just the stuff with his

mom that's really uncomfortable. There's stuff with his dad, the way he treats a lot of his friends pretty poorly, and the conversations they have about that fascinating stuff that I could not stop watching. So that premieeres tonight on HBO. I think it's going to be one episode a week. But really interesting stuff. Okay. So, and if you haven't watched the special, I

would say watch the comedy special first and then get into the show. So go watch laugh with him before you go, Wow, what a train wreck. The comedy specials not a lot of laughs. I mean there are, it is, but it's also very serious. It's this very interesting, kind of pioneering confessional style of comedy that he has. It's funny, but it's also very serious. Okay. And this just came in. It just crossed Jason. I don't know if you've even seen it yet, but we just

got where the Lewis Gasset Junior has died. I did not see that. No, Yeah, it just happened. He was eighty seven, first black man to win the Best Supporting Actor OSCAR for an Officer and a Gentleman. He was fantastic. Yeah, he was. All right, Jason Nathanson, thank you so much. All right, take care, all right, touch to you next week. Let's get back to some of the stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour news room. Two people have been killed in

a crash involving a would be hit and run driver in Jefferson Park. The crash happened just before noon yesterday near Arlington Avenue and twenty ninth Street.
