Hey, it's Jennifer Jones Lee. You're listening to KFI, a M six forty wake up call on demand on the iHeartRadio app. You are halfway to the weekend already. Here's Jennifer Jones Lee with your Wednesday morning wake up call. You ever have one of those mornings where you wake up, alarm goes off and nobody in the bed moves. Now, when I say nobody, I mean me and three dogs. Normally the alarm goes off and they're like, whoa, what time to get outside and go take care of some business.

And this morning the alarm went off, nothing nobody including me moved. It's like, you know what, I'm gonna hit snooze, granded. My snooze is three minutes. Three minutes later, it goes off, still no movement. I'm doing it again. Hit it one more time, three more minute. Finally on the third one, and I really think it's only because probably a curse word came out of my mouth that finally the dogs were like, yeah, yeah, it's Blair. Yeah, I We'll get up.

Would you ever have one of those mornings where it's pulled outside it's little drizzly. I was talking with producer Anne and Tyler and how good it feels to be in the bed and you're like, oh god, I don't want to get up. But then when announcer Guy says you're halfway through the work week, I'm like, all right, you know what that just means that sleep time. We'll be here in just two days and I'm so happy for it. I've got vacation coming up. Tell you a little more about that.

Jason Middleton's gonna start Friday for me and all next week. But I'll tell you what my shenanigans are going to be. Well, it's gonna be fun. You guys. I invite you to come if you want to make the road trip. So that's all straight ahead. Also coming up on your wake up call, hospitals are preparing for the crush of migrants expected across the California Mexico border this week. Now, we're going to talk with ABC's Jim Ryan

because we've already got troops headed to the border. We'll talk about what their actual role will be and who all is there. California Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein has returned to Washington, DC after a nearly three month absence because of shingles, and I don't. I've saw Robert de Niro yesterday on TV. Tyler says, oh, hey, look there he is. I looked down. I was like, oh, all right, Robert de Niro, and in my mind I thought, how old is that guy? Just out of curiosity.

Then the news this morning actor Robert de Niro is seventy nine years old and he's a dad again. Cool or bit creepy? I ask you. You can hit me up on Twitter, JJLKFI. But let's get into some of these stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour newsroom. Hospitals are preparing for the crush of migrants expected to cross the California Mexico border this week

as Health Order Title forty two expires. Officials with Customs and Border Protections say they are ready to handle the tens of thousands of migrants who will most likely claim asylum status. Most of those who tried to cross the California Mexico border have been waiting in Mexico for months. Texas and Arizona have begun deploying National Guard troops in addition to the federal troops that arrived this week. My estimation

of what's happening in California is a bit of a wait and see. A pro immigration expert Elaine Wood told Fox five San Diego she expects border states to declare states of emergency to get more federal aid. Steve Corregory, King of a News and again, we'll talk with Jim Ryan about the role of those troops specifically at the border, and we'll do that in about two minutes from

now. Former President Trump says he will appeal the verdict from a jury in New York City that found him liable for sexually abusing writer E Jean Carroll in the nineteen nineties. The verdict is a disgrace, a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time. Trump posted his reaction on the Truth social platform yesterday just after the jury rejected Carol's rape claim but found Trump liable for battery

and defamation. Carol was awarded at least five million dollars and I saw I think it came across breaking news this morning from NBC that Ejing Carol did an interview with The Today's Show. When she walked out of the courtroom yesterday, she said nothing, but then this morning on the Today Show she said that she is overwhelmed with joy or women across America after yesterday's verdict. Now, former President Trump is going back to CNN for a town hall in New Hampshire.

It's tonight and it's being held just a day after he was found liable for sexually abusing Ejing. Carol Willie talk about it tonight. Come on now, you know he will. He can't resist, which makes if you like the guy, if you don't like the guy, it doesn't matter. The entertainment factor. Oh my gosh, I can't wait to watch it. Law

enforcement agencies throughout southern California have announced federal final cases targeting fentinyl trafficking. Authorities say over sixteen hundred people died from fentinyl poisoning in La County in twenty twenty one. The LA Drug Enforcement Agencies. Bill Bodner says the two driving forces behind fentinyl caused deaths in the US our accessibility and deception. Today, social media platforms have taken on the role of last mile delivery for both the Cineloa

cartel and the Jalisco New Generation cartel. Authorities said yesterday they have filed sixty two cases against people who caused the death or bodily injury to someone who used fentanyl in La Chris Adler, k if I knew. Jim Ryan, good morning to you. So we've been talking about Title forty two set to expire tomorrow, and then right now we have seen all kinds of footage of everybody

who is trying to get into the US before the expiration. Now we've got troops at the border, as Steve Gregory was just talking about, tell us exactly who the troops are from what I guess what agency, what governmental agency, Army, Navy, whatever, and then also what is their actual job. Well, it depends upon the group you're talking about, chat because the Biden administration is said something like so far five hundred and fifty active duty military

personnel down to the border. These are primarily army folks who will be there in a support role helping customs in border protection to process the anticipated surge in migrants who are coming into the country making applications. So folks who are coming to the checkpoints and saying I'm here to apply for asylum, they are processed in. There's such a backlog though right now that customs can't handle it. So these folks being set in from places like Colorado, from other military bases

around will be handling some of those duties. At the same time, Governor Greg Abbott, who's criticized the administration for both lifting Title forty two and then deploying these military folks to the checkpoints, is sending what he calls a rapid Response task force. These are National Guard troops who will be sent two areas between the border patrol checkpoints to try to repel people who are coming in illegally.

They'll be stringing concertina wire, They'll be physically and turning people back if they need to. But to suffice it to say that after midnight tomorrow night, at eleven fifty nine pm Eastern time, the Entitle forty two will be gone. You know, you see the footage of these people camped out, just waiting to get across the border. And you have the President of Mexico meeting with you know, President Biden this week, him saying, you know, we'll do what we can, but how much can they do? How

thin can they be stretched in Mexico? And then what is the I guess relationship between President Biden and the President of Mexico in the sense of can we trust one another? Are we really on that basis where we can say, you know, hey we need your help doing this, Hey we need your help doing this. Stop these people, help them, whatever the case may be. Is there that kind of I guess SI pat relationship between the two Well, there's a good cooperation at least. I mean, it may not

be the friendliest relationship that the United States has ever enjoyed with Mexico. But at the same time, the Mexican president has recognized that people will be expelled from the United States, they'll be turned down in their migration or their immigration applications, and they'll have to go somewhere. So Mexico has opened up some space there on the other side of the border. In Uarez, for example, I saw an interview this morning with the man who's been there for the

last two months with his family. The new process involves using an app called cbp one, which is a phone app, and it allows people to make application for asylum or for their immigration process on this phone app. Unfortunately, the guy who's been there for the last two months, he wants to come into the country legally, doesn't want to risk coming in illegally and then being

expelled. Every time he gets down to the very last step sending this application at glitches, gets a message saying error, and so he tries again the next day. CBP is trying to address this, trying to fix this app, take the glitches out to ensure that it does work. Becomes a lot of the people, maybe most who come up from even Colombia for Venezuela from

elsewhere, have smartphones with them, right, And that's great. It's great they have that technology, and it's great that they are trying to go through and do it the correct way and not come in illegally. But it also I guess the process in which they're doing this, and it's like, Okay, you have to have access to this, you have to be able to fill it out, but you also have to camp out. You're also trying to keep your family, you know, get them food whatever. I mean.

There is part of me that feels for the migrants, and I just wonder if there is disinformation that they are being given that, you know, like, hey, the borders open right now, you guys come on through, or is it more of it. They know that this is a hail Mary, and they're just trying to get in. Well, I think the idea that the border is suddenly open even after a Title forty two goes away, Title eight takes effect. That's the longstanding immigration policy that this country has

had forever, and it has some pretty tough provisions. If you try to come into the country illegally, you can be deported for five years. You can't even make application at that point for the next five years, and so there will be expedited deportations under that policy. So so we're told that a lot of this information that all the words are suddenly opened. Title forty two is gone, you can walk right in. That's coming from smugglers who said,

you know, and both side. You know. Governor Grey Gabbott has said that the administration has said that that criminal elements are convincing people that suddenly they've got a free path into the country when that just isn't the case. All right, Jim, thank you so much, and I will chat tomorrow. All right, so Jim see you later. ABC's Jim Ryan and the

reason no coming into the country illegally. No, Well, let's let's talk about that guy that Jim spoke with, who's been there for two months at the Order trying to do the right thing, trying to go through the CBP APP The way that I look at this is how desperate must you be to camp out at the border for two months with your family, knowing water, food, depending on whatever the weather is there? You are subjecting yourself to all of that. How bad was your life in Venezuela or Columbia or wherever

these people are coming from, that you think the fingers crossed? Gosh, I hope so chance that you can get into the US is possible, And I of course, legally, if you can get into this country legally and you are seeking asylum, of course we all want them out of harm's way.

I get that. But at the same time, if you've got these smugglers giving these people all this disinformation, well that's I mean, come on, if your living situation was horrible, wouldn't you try and get across legally or illegally if you thought that you had the chance, and then these smugglers dupe you and do whatever to you and your family. Just the whole situation

is just a mess. So we'll see how it plays out. Also, I heard this morning Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot even issued an emergency declaration in Chicago. Now why because she says that a large number of migrants, mostly families, have been arriving in Chicago and they were bust to the city, she claims Tuesday by Texas Governor Grey Gabbott. So now Chicago is issuing this warning unbelievable. Former President Trump will be back on CNN for a town hall in

New Hampshire. Tonight's town hall is being held just a day after a civil jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing an advice columnist nearly three decades ago. Now, Trump is referred to CNN as fake news, and Tonight's host is Caitlin Collins, and she and the former president of maybe not agreed on a lot of stuff. Some people might say, they have had very colorful arguments.

Right, Trump's already written on truth social Now CNN made a deal that he couldn't refuse, as he put it, and that it could turn into a disaster for us. All Let's wait and see, now, how smart was that? Because even if this is the stupidest town hall in America, or you couldn't give a flying fig about what the former president is going to say tonight, the fact that he said it could turn into a disaster. Makes you go, oh, what's he think they're going to fight again?

And what will you do? Then tune in. This guy is a matter of getting people to watch his shows. I mean, he's you got to give him that. Top law enforcement officials in LA have announced federal criminal cases aimed at tackling fentnyl trafficking. The LA Drug Enforcement Agency says Mexican drug cartels are using social media now as a way to get drugs into the community.

Officials said sixty two cases have been filed against people who have caused death or severe bodily injury to someone they sold fentanyl too, and the FSAF fentnyl poison poisoning is the number one cause of death in adults fifty years and younger. Peter and Nadio, welcome back to wake Up Call. These Sportsbetexpert dot com

is where you can go. He's CEO of that. Peter, I have to tell you the last time that I had you on, which was riot around Super Bowl, some of the things that you were talking about, the odds on. One of my good friends, Cupcake is his name. He's a big, old bodybuilder guy who lives across the street from me. Cupcake, perfect name for him. He actually went, he went on your site. He did like three of the bets or something like that, and he

won the purple Gatorade one. He won like all these weird little prop bets that were on there based on what you had on the website. So he came out a very rich man listening to you. It was a good time. You know. You and I had both talked about them scoring a lot of points that game, and we were both right on that as well. Exactly so, Peter, when it comes to sports betting, it is fun, and especially you know, it's not like I throw big bucks into the

game. It's just kind of fun to have, you know, an extra hundred or something in there that you can watch the game and you have a little you know, skin in it, I guess. But for the last five years, I was blown away when I saw that Americans had spent two hundred twenty billion dollars on sports with legal gambling outlets. It's unreal. You

know, it's in household's across the United States everywhere. Now, the US sports betting market is one of the most lucrative and rapidly growing industries in the country. You know, thirty three states now are legal to bet on sports, and when this weekend, right, we have an anniversary that's coming up, and it looks like then this could even expand some of the sports betting,

and you know, you kind of can't get away from it. I was laughing because in this article that I'm reading, I think out of the OC Register, it talks about the Manning dynasty and that commercial for Caesar's I guess you know where they're sitting around and they're talking it, talking about it or whatever, and it's those it's a person like Peyton Manning or for goodness sakes, in this case, his entire dynasty. And if you think like, oh, Peyton's doing it, or Peyton endorses this one, that's one

where you start to feel comfortable. You think, oh, he's probably vetted it. I will do it. So even getting the family dynasty in there must have cost a fortune. At the same time, the company had to know we are going to make so much money off of people being okay with the Mannings doing this totally worth whatever it costs. Well, who doesn't like

the Manning family? And of course you know, unfortunately the gambling industry has been looked down upon over the years, but now it's becoming more mainstream. And who doesn't love the Manning brothers, you know, and the family. We got people like Jamie Fox as well on these advertisements, and they're just trying to get more people involved and more people to trust in the industry, and it's blowing up and it's something that we can look forward to for many

years to come. Well, you being the CEO of Sports Bet Network, you've got to have been following this from the very beginning. What do you think some of the biggest changes are in sports bettings? So absolutely so. You know, I took a risk and I bet on myself when I started my company over eleven years ago. And like I said earlier, we're seeing it become more mainstream, you know, we're seeing it become key advertisements in

all of these big sports markets. So you got, for example, Tennessee Titans, who when you go to a game there, they have bet MGM across the end zone in a huge advertisement, and you're just seeing more and more of them trying to get people involved. And I just see this market to continue to expand and get the average person who may not even understand it's the whole operations of it. To come in and try to learn and like you said earlier, get a little skin in the game to make it more

exciting it is. And even if it's you know, it's how do I put it this way? I understand that, you know, gambling, like anything, can become an addiction. I get that side of it. On the other hand, though, if you are doing it responsibly and legally and you're just having fun, I really don't see this any different than if you

were I don't know whatever. If people are like, oh, don't go to bars because you might, you know, drink too much or something like that, that's on you to sort of, you know, I don't know,

harness yourself a little bit. But at the same time, if you're just going to have fun and you're not putting thousands and thousands of dollars down, I would almost think that the you know, the small guy like me who's just putting one hundred bucks here and their kind of thing, that that might be the group that's coming in, and that might be the group who the Manning Brothers or Jamie Fox would get to say, Okay, I'll try

it. Once and then probably get hooked. Yeah, So of course that's the negative side effect, and there's negative side effects to everything, but you know, when you think about it, it has a positive economic impact, you know, with increased tax revenue, job creation, and consumer spending. But let's be honest here, you have to be patient. You can't bet on impulse, you know, never gamble with the money you can't afford to

lose. And be patients. You know, there's always another day. You can't force anything, and you know, a little side note the difference between high level sports betters and people who try and fail. As the good ones consistently play the numbers and their favor and live with the result of knowing they have an edge. Long term amateurs sweat every single game and don't want to deal with the losses. So that's where you have to harness yourself. Okay,

so let's go back to what you were saying about the numbers. So if somebody goes to your website, the sports Betexpert dot com, tell them what is there and how your website helps them to bet. So what we do is we make it easy for you to literally log onto our site. You don't have to do any research, and we put you on a position to win. Obviously we're gonna have losing days, it happens, but we win more than we lose. So we want to just end the night.

We don't want to chase, We don't want to bet on impulse. You know, if we take a loss late in the night, which happened, it's gonna happen to every single person. I guarantee if you bet on sports, you're gonna lose eventually. But you have to just be responsible and that's what we teach people. We offer daily, weekly, and monthly subscriptions. They're very affordable. You look at the competitors in the industry and you put

people in a position to win. It's almost like watching your stocks every day or going to a stockbroker or a stock under to tell you who to put your money in, what companies to put your money in. We tell you who to put your money in on sports teams, got it? Which makes absolute sense. And when I when I saw that fan duel and Draft Kings. The difference in what Peter's talking about his website is is that's where you

go to see who you should bet on. So that's they've done all the stats and the numbers for you there, then you go to a site like FanDuel or draft kings right and make your bet exactly. We just give information. We're strictly an informative website. We don't take or place bets for anybody. And as you saw, you know FanDuel and draft Kings they control over seventy percent of legal sports bets, which is huge, and I know they're

God. They're the people that you know everywhere everyone's going to place bets and they're the big companies that are trusted. Right now, where do you see the future of sports betting? You see it just exploding even more than it

already is. You know, I said it. I said it ten years ago that I live in South Florida and that you were going to be able to walk into hard Rock Stadium where the Dolphins play, or any other stadium around the country, and you are going to be able to bet on the game with your mom, with your dad, with your aunt, someone who doesn't know what they're doing, and they're gonna be like, hey, Mom, you want to put fifty bucks on the Dolphins to cover three points and

you're going to be able to do that, right, then and there from the stadium. I can't wait. I cannot wait because I would go. In fact, I've tried to get my dad. I'm like, Dad, I have a Dodgers tickets for the last day Dodgers Giants at the end of September. So he and my mom are going to come down so that we can. You know, I'll go to the game or whatever because they're Giants

fans and I'm a Dodger fan. How fun would it be? Instead of like betting who pays for you know, whatever, peanuts or something, you can actually go and bet on the game. I love it. Yes, I mean that makes it more exciting, let's be honest. Absolutely, Peter, thank you as always CEO of Sports bet and Network. His website is the Sportsbetexpert dot com. We'll have you on again for sure, Peter, have a great one. All right, Thanks, Jan see it, talk

to you later. I love that guy. You know. It's fun too, is I've never met him, right, We've just talked on the air and done interviews. He's phenomenal. He will text me sometimes like would you bet on this game? Or congrats? I know you bet on this game or whatever? And yes, his site is totally for profit. At the same time his numbers, they were good for me. I'm saying there will be good for you or bet on anything. No, no, I'm just saying it was fun. It worked out for me, which rarely happens.

Usually I might as well just like walk in, stay to Santa Anita and hand somebody one hundred bucks and lighting on fire because I never win. California has agreed to pay twenty four million dollars to the family of a man who died while being held down by several HP officers in Altadena so a nurse could get a blood sample. And I've got a story about a corgi who has predicted every playoff matchup between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors correctly. So

we'll talk more about the corgi prediction in just a second. But what is next? A jury found Donald Trump liable for sexually abusing advice columnist A Jean Carroll in nineteen ninety six, giving her five million dollars. ABC News legal analyst Royal Oakes is here. Royal, does Donald Trump actually pay that five million or do we see appeals happening? What's next? Adye? Jennifer first, I have to said expected Corgi to be predicting British soccer scores. But

yeah, that's just me, that's true. You know, it's interesting, Jennifer. He's not gonna have to pay for years because he's appealing and he'll say to the it's looking I'm going to post a bond. I'm good for the money. So Jeane Carrell won't get the money until and unless she wins a few years down the road. But it was such a shock, Jennifer that only three hours of deliberations. I thought they had to be unanimous back there in federal Court, New York. I thought it would take days and

days, but they did come up with the compromise. As you reported, he did not rape her, but he did sexually abuse her to the tune of five million dollars damages. And when today you had Ejing Carroll on NBC News, I think that's where she was first. I just saw her on Excuse Me on CNN, and she is talking about being overwhelmed with joy for women across America, even though she didn't get that rape portion of it for her. Does this make her some sort of a leader or trailblazer? I

guess. Oh absolutely, that image of her coming out of the courtroom with a huge smile on her face. So you know, it's just an addition to the me too movement. And Trump has been such a lightning rod for criticism and it's got to be satisfying to her and his critics. And of course, from his standpoint, he's continuing to say, you know, it's just despicable. I didn't do it, know the woman, but this jury

didn't take long to decide that he had actually committed serious misconduct. And before I let you go, did the fact that he didn't testify make a difference to that jury. I think that was huge. When a jury sits there and they stay to themselves. Let me get this straight. We took time out of our life to do our civic duty and this guy doesn't even show up for the trial. I have a feeling that really fueled their anger. I have a feeling that did too. Royal, thank you so much.

We'll talk to you again soon. You bet see you later. That's ABC's legal analyst Royal Oaks. And you know, I can't wait. I haven't seen any polls yet or anything, but I can't wait to see how this impacts his poll numbers, and I'm predicting only based on what has happened. Every time something negative happens to Trump, his poll numbers go up. And it kind of boggles the mind a little bit, other than if you think about it, his narrative that you know, it's the deep state at that

this is all a witch hunt. Anytime anything happens uses the witch hunt phrase. I'm pretty sure he did when it came to eging Carroll as well. Anytime that he does that, what that does is that negative so something bad happens to him, he then uses it to fuel that negative you know, press against him, that the Deep States against him, that you know, the witch hunt, and his followers like that, that's the narrative that they

believe, and so they go along with it. It just fascinates me that almost as things get worse for Trump, maybe legally politically, they get better. Let's get back to some of these stories coming out of the KFI twenty four hour news room. There's a coorgy that's gone viral for predicting every game in the playoff matchup between the Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. Videos showed this corgi scoring a toy basketball into two different hoops with each team's logo on

it. Right, the corgi has predicted the winner of the four games so far. Now the Lakers are up three to one, three to one. That's they won three and the Warriors only won one three to one. The next game happens tonight, However, I think the freaking corgie needs to have its forehead felt. The corgi has predicted that the Warriors will win the next three games. I liked the corgi until the last line of that story.

There's some airline passengers who may get a blast of cold airs. To TikTok, a user who goes by the handle at the LK Show, has posted what he or she calls an unethical life hack. The TikToker says, when you're on a flight and the person in front of you reclines their seat all the way, leaving you know room, just turn on the air for your seat full blast and pointed at the top of their head is a way to get them to set up straight again. The video has gone viral, restarting

the age old debate about whether seats on planes should recline. The video has been viewed more than two point four million times and has received twenty nine hundred comments. Amy King KFI News. Okay, I'm not saying do that, Oh my god, do that? Do that? Let's been tusk good, oh my, because how many times have you been like dude? Seriously? And or they're one of those people who sort of bounces as they lay back,

like maybe they're listening to music and so they're sort of bopping. But then as they're bopping, that seat is coming closer and closer to your knees and it's making your tray move all over the place and you spill your ginger. Ale. We've all been there, haven't we. Please help me me up. Robert de Niro is a dad again at seventy nine years old. Who so congratulations. I will say his oldest child from his first marriage is fifty one. This is his seventh child. Nick, This is going to

sound very judgy, and I don't mean it to sound this way. These are questions if you're seventy nine years old. Unfortunately, you have to assume that you will never see that child graduate high school right seventeen eighteen. If you're seventy nine now, I don't know if you're gonna make it to your late nineties. And the oldest child being fifty one, that's kind kind of like being a grandparent age in some cases. And so your sister is going

to be fifty one years younger than you. Does anybody else feel like this is weird? Or is it just me? Or is it just Hollywood? I mean, we do live in Tinseltown, where I feel like anything goes right.
