Dr. Jim Pivarski returns to Wake the Dead to discuss the theory some conspiracy theorists believe regarding the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Social media is in a frenzy speculating CERN will open portals to alternate dimensions & allow ancient gods out of their prison. While highly imaginative, this theory is in no way a description of reality. When scientists refer to other dimensions, they mean like height, width and length. They don't mean ancient Tartarus. Some scientists are somewhat ashamed of all the religious language they used to hype up their discoveries. It has led to some serious misunderstandings.
Jim & Sean discuss this and look at examples of the theories propagating online. Looking at what some are saying about CERN on Twitter followed by a short documentary featuring author Thomas Horn & his speculations about CERN.
