Who had the better decade? Part 1 of our Murray vs. Chase battle as we cover the decade they truly became movie stars, the 1980s.
In this episode we take a detour to weird TV from 30 years ago before talking about our feelings on the directing work of Mr. Mel Brooks.
After a brief little intro, we do about 15 minutes of spoiler-free talk then hit an Hour+ about this film We wrap up with a brief San Diego Comic Con summary and discussion. SOME REAL NERDY CRAP THIS WEEK.
This is all about disappointing media. We were hyped, it let us down. Occasionally angry. Note: recorded earlier in the week, Deadpool and Wolverine/MCU talk coming NEXT week.
The Here trailer led to us looking back on the career of Robert Zemeckis and he was prolific as all get out...until he wasn't. Maybe Here will right the ship? Can Here put him back there? I just thought of that. I'm so clever.
We also talk about what we watched, but I'm exhausted. This is Mike. I type these little blurbs and edit the episodes. I'm exhausted. Sports is exhausting.
We spend over an hour talking about 4 movies with the kind of exact same plot and concept that came out over a 3 year period in the late 1980s.
We also detail a favorite album of Randy's and do the usual talk about what we watched this week. Do enjoy.
In addition to the stuff in the title we also have a great talk about the cancelled HBO show Winning Time. Enjoy!
Sorry this one is coming out so late! We had the dreaded technical difficulties, but I hope you still enjoy it! WHO WILL WIN TOM DOMINANCE?!
This is a loosey goosey one, we figured out our topics day of, and then had one of our best episodes to date. CRAZY. Enjoy the decade breakdown of Hanks v. Cruise after we talking lots of music, and some nerdy stuff.
We talk about a busy week of media, and then the main event and the second half of the episode is drafting our respective 7 person superhero teams. The picks are in, as it were.
This one is all over the place. It's hard to describe. Do you like Nightcrawler farts and 2000s era British boy bands? This one is for you.
Mike and Randy detail many things they have enjoyed at the time of recording, including X-Men 97 episode 5. Mike tests Randy with random 80s and 90s music trivia, and then they get into a proper argument about The Simpsons Season 9 episode The Principal and the Pauper.
SPORTS BABY WE LOVE SPORTS (Well, Randy does, Mike...really, really doesn't.) But we are gonna preview the two big events happening this weekend after we catch up on what we've watched this week and discuss one of Randy's favorite albums - The Beastie Boys Ill Communication.
We had more planned for this ep, but it basically just turned into 2 hours breaking down the entire directing career of Ivan Reitman, and wow, what a career. We also go on a LOT of side tangents.
In this episode we listen to and pick one TV theme song from each of the 4 broadcast networks, 1 from cable, and 1 bonus pick EACH. 6 from Mike, 6 from Randy. Let's see what happens!
I mean, it's in the title. Isn't that enough for you?! We also talk about an episode of scrubs. Get off our ass. I'm so tired, I'm sorry. I'm lashing out. I love you audience, I didn't mean it. Let's cuddle.
Only two topics, but one of them is the length of a damn feature length film. We fan cast 10 different roles for an all-star roster of a sitcom. Nothing but existing NBC characters from 1970 to today to create two new sitcoms. Then we talk THE ALLLLLL TIME of all timers, Cape Feare
After taking a week off, we are back big with a JAM PACKED episode. A review of The Marvels now that it is streaming, a Deadpool and Wolverine trailer breakdown, a full breakdown of 10 years of the original TGIF on ABC lineup, Randy talks a favorite Muse album and the boys break down an all time Simpsons classic, Burns Verkaufen der Kraftwerk. I'm exhausted just typing this.
This week we do a deep iMDB dive on two beloved actors to figure out - when did we stop caring about these beloved actors? Then Randy discusses one of his favorite soundtracks of all time, and we get into a quote-a-thon over the all time Simpsons classic "Homer vs The 18th Amendment".
Your normal weekly what did we watch catch up, then a deep dive into who we would cast if we made a movie about the wrestling stable D-Generation X, but that movie was also made in 1999 when they were huge. Then we talk sketch comedy and put together our dream team troupes.
We recorded an amazing hour plus episode. THIS IS NOT THAT EPISODE. Big ol' in progress technical difficulties have led to calling an audible. Here's 30 minutes of Mike vamping like a mad man to get an episode out for you.
A half hour discussion about the shows that aired at 8:30pm on Thursdays on NBC goes to some very random places. Randy and Mike argue about Weezer, but both praise Pinkerton, Mike gives some unique comic book to movie back to comic book adaptation facts, and the fellas discuss The Simpsons season 10 Lisa Gets an "A".
A discussion on 2023 media leads to some angry superhero ranting from Mike, Randy talks some somber Radiohead and they both discuss a crappy Simpsons episode, This episode is accidentally missing some positivity.
In our first episode we talk a bit about our concept, then dive into talking about music, comic books and The Simpsons. Music Theme License Code: Best Friends (Primary) OJRMHFI2A237IRHC
