LESSON 79
Let Me Recognize The Problem So It Can Be Solved.

A problem cannot be solved if you do not know what it is. Even if it is really solved already you will still have the problem, because you will not recognize that it has been solved. This is the situation of the world. The problem of separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. Yet the solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized.Everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems. Yet they are all the same, and must be recognized as one if the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted. Who can see that a problem has been solved if he thinks the problem is something else? Even if he is given the answer, he cannot see its relevance. That is the position in which you find yourself now. You have the answer, but you are still uncertain about what the problem is. A long series of different problems seems to confront you, and as one is settled the next one and the next arise. There seems to be no end to them. There is no time in which you feel completely free of problems and at peace. The temptation to regard problems as many is the temptation to keep the problem of separation unsolved. The world seems to present you with a vast number of problems, each requiring a different answer. This perception places you in a position in which your problem-solving must be inadequate, and failure is inevitable. No one could solve all the problems the world appears to hold. They seem to be on so many levels, in such varying forms and with such varied content, that they confront you with an impossible situation. Dismay and depression are inevitable as you regard them. Some spring up unexpectedly, just as you think you have resolved the previous ones. Others remain unsolved under a cloud of denial, and rise to haunt you from time to time, only to be hidden again but still unsolved. All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem, and therefore not to let it be resolved. If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance. Perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you would understand that you have the means to solve them all. And you would use the means, because you recognize the problem. In our longer practice periods today we will ask what the problem is, and what is the answer to it. We will not assume that we already know. We will try to free our minds of all the many different kinds of problems we think we have. We will try to realize that we have only one problem, which we have failed to recognize. We will ask what it is, and wait for the answer. We will be told. Then we will ask for the solution to it. And we will be told. The exercises for today will be successful to the extent to which you do not insist on defining the problem. Perhaps you will not succeed in letting all your preconceived notions go, but that is not necessary. All that is necessary is to entertain some doubt about the reality of your version of what your problems are. You are trying to recognize that you have been given the answer by recognizing the problem, so that the problem and the answer can be brought together and you can be at peace. The shorter practice periods for today will not be set by time, but by need. You will see many problems today, each one calling for an answer. Our efforts will be directed toward recognizing that there is only one problem and one answer. In this recognition are all problems resolved. In this recognition there is peace.Be not deceived by the form of problems today. Whenever any difficulty seems to rise, tell yourself quickly:Let me recognize this problem so it can be solved. Then try to suspend all judgment about what the problem is. If possible, close your eyes for a moment and ask what it is. You will be heard and you will be answered.

Hi, Good morning everyone, and welcome to this morning's episode of our daily lesson. To this morning's daily lesson of the workbook of a course in Miracles, and we are at lesson seventy nine today. Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. So coming off from yeares today's lesson, let miracles replace all grievances. You may be thinking what problem or not, So we are going to discover and recognize the problem and see that it has been

solved. And as has been repeated over and over during the course of this program, and I'm talking about the program as a whole now. Of course, in miracles and our training, our mind training, problems are not specific. In fact, nothing is specific, but you are at you are asked to practice with great specificity. And I've got this tickling in my nose,

and it seems as though I'm about to sneeze. So I think this is a great time to just take a moment and come together, remember why we are here, and just take a moment, relax and breathe, and as we say, send in peace to the Father by giving him a sentence in our mind. So on that note, I will play a song to kind of get us in the mood as it were. And as usual, I'm struggling with choosing a song. So fortunately I'm not sneezing, so that's good.

Well, how about sing. Let's play a song called sing here we go? Sing sing a song, Sing old, loud, sing had strong, sing of good things not bad, sing of happy nuts say. Sing sing a song. Make it simple to last your whole life long. Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyoneess to eat. Sing Sing sing a song, sing, sing sing a song. Let the word lo word sing, sing of love the gole, Sing for you for me, l la la la lo lo lo uh. Sing sing a song. Make it simple

to last your whole life lorve. Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone to eat. Sing sing a song any I am sustained by the love of God. As I listen to God's voice, I am sustained by his love. As I open my eyes, his love lights up the world for me to see. As I forgive, his love reminds me that his son is sinless. And as I look upon the world with the vision he has given me, I remember that I am his son. Now I welcome the real world that is all around me. I am remembering my real home.

I am coming home at last. Beautifully done cover of that song by Mitch just absolutely gorgeous. And it's one of those rare occasions where we're able to obtain permission from the original artist to actually reproduce the song in our own way. I forget who sang it now, but it's a pretty well known song, and she's a pretty well known artist. But at nine o'clock on Tuesday morning, my memory is not a everything it could be, so I cannot

remember her name. Okay, so lesson seventy nine. Let's get right to it, because it's a great, great, great lesson. Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. A problem cannot be solved if you do not know what it is. Ha haa. Even if it is really solved already, you will still have the problem because you will not recognize that it has been solved. And of course this is inevitable in a condition where you see yourself as having lots and lots and lots of different problems, lots

of different specific problems. This is the situation of the world. Ah, the problem of separation, which is really, the only problem has already been solved, yet the solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized. And this is absolutely crucial. This is key to the mind training here and every single lesson will remind you that the condition in which you think you find

yourself is not true. The fact of the matter is that that is really all that you ever needed to know, because if you are mindful of that, there is no possibility that you could be afraid, that you could be in pain, that you could suffer all the myriads of different things that you appear to suffer. That's just the fact of the matter. This is why you really do have to stay mindful of the fact that the world you see has nothing to do with reality. It is of your own making and it

does not exist. That God is your source. You cannot see apart from him, you cannot be apart from Him, and that that is your reality. Here and now, it seems as though changes have to occur in the image projection, the body identity that you call yourself in order for you to realize the truth. And so you really literally look for the solution where it is not. The solution is in the action of your own mind. The solution is already in your own mind, because truth is already true. You

have been created perfect. God is now, and God is real, and he is not lost. He's available to you, wholly accessible to you, right here and right now, and indeed nothing else is available to him. The problem is not that. The problem is what you are making of this within your own mind. And so it's that craziness that literally has to cease. It is your mind that must be changed. This is the way you think that needs to change. Nothing external needs to change at all, because

nothing is external to you. This is the truth. So why not now? Why not now? And this is exactly this lesson. Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved, because once I recognize the problem, I will see that there is no problem. Wow. And that's a real experience. Wow. Okay, what a beautiful lesson. The problem of separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. Yet the

solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized. So listen, everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems, yet they are all the same and must be recognized as one. If the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted. See this is so fantastic because you know, you think that even if you think you personally don't have any problems,

you see a bunch of people with problems. And what you do not see is that seeing a bunch of peer seeing a bunch of people with problems is precisely what your problem is. There are no people out there. Remember, the world I see has nothing to do with reality. It is on my own making. It does not exist. Wow. Okay, let's continue. Wow. Everyone in this problem seems to have his own special problems, yet they are all the same and must be recognized as one if the one solution

that solves them all is to be accepted. Who can see that a problem has been solved if he thinks the problem is something else. Even if he is given the answer, he cannot see its relevance. And let's assume that you knew absolutely nothing, and you had never heard even of the possibility of changing your mind or awakening from a dream or anything like that, and you came across the crossing Miracles on the first day of January. You have been

doing your lessons religiously ever since. You cannot still have a problem. It's literally impossible for you to have a problem. So if you think you have a problem, regardless of what the problem appears to be, then you are not accepting the problem the problem. You are not accepting the one solution that has been offered over and over and over again. Now for seventy nine days, you must begin to see that this is personal to you, that it

is incumbent upon you to accept this, to work this program personally. It is not doing you any good to pretend hand that the solution has not been given it just you know, you just keep putting it off. But the peace of God is with you now. The love of God is with you. Now, the light of God is with you. Now you have no problem. Wow. Just let that sink in for a second. Let's play another song. I think we have time. Yeah, let's play another song. Wow. God is with me. I live and move in here.

God is with me. He is my source of love, the life within the air. I breathe, the food by witch. I am sustained water which renews and cleanses me. He is my home wherein I live and move God. God is with me. I live and move in here. He is the spirit which directs my action. He offers me he thought and g guarantees my safety from open He covers me with kindness and with care, and holds in love the sun He shines the fall, also shineins in HOSTSSI who

knows the truth. Oh what he speaks to day Father, We have no world except your name, upon our lips and in ourmans. As we come quietly into your present snaw and asks to best with you and p So God lod is with me. I live and move in. God is with me. He is my source of love, the life within I read, God is my home wherein I live and move. Well, thank you Dahla for that beautiful rendition of less than two twenty two. God is with me, I live and move in him. That's just the fact of the matter.

And that is that is the truth now, And yeah, that's what it's all about, really, and at this point, our attention, our focus is really on that. And there's it's a different experience. It's a whole new realm of thought. It's it's just a completely different way of being. The problems and the nonsense just you know, it's it's it's like a movie that just runs across the screen, it has no effect whatsoever, and in

the twinkling of an I it will be gone altogether. The temptation to regard oh, I'm sorry, I think I've skipped a yes, even if he has given the answer, okay, who can see that the problem has been solved? If he thinks the problem is something else. Even if he has given the answer, he cannot see its relevance. That is the position in

which you find yourself. Now you have the answer, but you are still uncertain about what the problem is. A long series of different problems seem to confront you, and as one is settled, the next one and the next one arise. There seems to be no end to them. There is no time in which you feel completely free of problems and at peace. Wow. And so the aim of the exercise and every exercise is for you to begin to feel completely free of problems and know that you are at peace, or

know that you are completely free of problems and be at peace. The temptation to regard problems as many is the temptation to keep the problem of separation unsolved. The world seems to present you with a vast number of problems, each requiring a different answer. This perception places you in a position in which your problem solving must be inadequate and failure is inevitable. No one could solve all the problems the world appears to hold. No one, not even you.

Doesn't stop you trying. Then they seem to be on so many levels, in such varying forms, and with such varied content, that they confront you with an impossible situation. Dismay and depression are inevitable as you regard them. Some spring up unexpectedly just as you think you've resolved the previous ones. Others remain unsolved under a cloud of denial, and rise to haunt you from time

to time, only to be hidden again, but still unsolved. And it's this is so beautiful, because the whole idea of hiding your problems under a cloud of denial, although they keep you know, you find yourself in these patterns, you know that you don't like, and the same things happen to you over and over again, and you will never address the cause of the problem. You do not go to the source of it. You just you

know what. I love that he calls it a cloud of denial, And so you invent all kinds of reasons why these things are happening to you. It's really the condition of addiction, isn't it. When you look at addiction as it plays out in the world, it's really a perfect description of this. What you do not see is that your human condition, the insistence on a separate identity, is actually what the addiction is. Isn't that wild? Wow? Okay, cloud of denial. I don't know why I think that's

funny, but it kind of is okay? All right? So others remain unsolved under a cloud of denial and rise to haunt you from time to time, only to be hidden again, but still unsolved. All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem and therefore not to let it be resolved. If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see

its relevance. And you know, the analogous to this is, like I said, the whole If we take the metaphor of addiction, you know, alcoholism is a great one. You know, where the alcoholic will come to you with a series of problems that plague him, and at no point is he willing to admit that he has one problem and that's alcohol, and one

solution, and that's the quick drinking. So it will seem that the problem is his mother in law, his mother, his father, his wife, his kids, his boss, his job, he was blessed as a kid, and this other thing happened, and the next thing happened, and all sorts of things. But the one thing he will not do is address the problem of alcoholism. And so that is just a microcosm, if you like, of the macrocosmic problem of your condition, the human condition, the problem

of separation. You think you're separate from God, that is your problem. You think you are a separate identity. That's the problem. The solution. It's not true, never has been true, will never be true. End of story, end of story. Do you accept the end of the story? Though? Wow, Wow, isn't that great? All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem and therefore not to let it

be resolved. If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance, perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you would understand that you have the means to solve them all, and you would use the means because you recognize the problem. Wow, how simple is salvation? In our longer practice periods, today, we will ask

what the problem is and what is the answer to it. We will not assume that we already know. We will try to free our minds of all the many different kinds of problems we think we have. We will try to realize that we have only one problem which we have failed to recognize. We will ask what it is and wait for the answer. Do you see how

extraordinarily gracious this is? Although you've been told in practically every paragraph exactly what the problem is, we are going to have you actually go through this exercise and so that you realize it on a deep and emotional and visceral level, that you now are showing it deep down where you can really see it for yourself. It's one thing for me to tell you that your problem is separation. Yes you hear the words, Yes they make sense, Yes you can

explain it. Have you begun to really feel it deep down and know it and be aware of it. That's the purpose of the exercise. So you're going to ask for the answer and it will be given you. Wow. Wow. So let's just read that again, because we're going to do that in the moment, in our longer practice periods. Today, we will ask what the problem is, and what the answer to it, and what is

the answer to it. We will not assume that we already know. We will try to free our minds of all the many different different kinds of problems we think we have. We will try to realize that we have only one problem which we have failed to recognize. We will ask what it is and wait for the answer we will be told. Then we will ask for the solution to it, and we will be told. The exercises for today will be successful to the extent to which you do not insist on defining the problem.

Perhaps you will not succeed in letting go, in letting all your preconceived notions go, But that is not necessary. Listen. All that is necessary is to entertain some doubt about the reality of your version of what your problems are. You are trying to recognize that you have been given the answer by recognizing the problem, so that the problem and the answer can be brought together and you can be at peace. Okay, So we're going to do that.

Now, we're going to spend twelve minutes. And I say twelve minutes because I do need to go early. I have an eye appointment. So we're going to spend twelve minutes and that will take us to nine forty seven and we'll come back and finish the lesson. So here we go, just a reminder, a refresher. We are going to ask what the problem is and what is the answer to it. We will not assume that we already know. We will try to free our minds of all the many different kinds

of problems we think we have. We will try to realize that we have only one problem which we have failed to recognize. We will ask what it is and wait for the answer. We will be told. Then we will ask for the solution to it, and we will be told. The exercises for today will be successful to the extent to which you do not insist on defining the problem. Perhaps you will not succeed in letting all your pre conceived notions go, but that isn't necessary. All that is necessary is to entertain

some doubt about the reality of your version of what your problems are. You are trying to recognize that you've been given the answer by recognizing the problem, so that the problem and the answer can be brought together and you can be at peace. And we will spend fifteen minutes on this lesson. Here we go. Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. B no, uh m, it to time and sinking, sinking a anything the buck fusing a Wow. Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved.

Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved. What an extraordinary lesson. Wow, Thank you, Thank you. The shorter practice periods for today will not be set by time, but by need. You will see many problems today, each one calling for an answer. Our efforts will be directed toward recognizing that there is only one problem and one answer. In this recognition, are all problem solved. In this recognition, there is peace. Do

not be deceived by the form of problems today. Whenever any difficulty seems to arise, tell yourself quickly, let me recognize this problem so it can be solved. Then try to suspend all judgment about what the problem is. If possible, close your eyes for a moment and ask what it is. You will be heard and you will be answered. So we go through our day mindful of the answer. We go through our day in perfect peace and joy.
