Episode description

Chuck and Stacey welcome versatile 2-time Emmy winning voice actor, Lex Lang, who shares his journey as an actor, musician and stand up comic. He tells of his first break into the voiceover business and how his skill at celebrity impressions and voice matching was a unique selling point for him. He credits his voice actor wife, Sandy Fox, talent agent Sandie Schnarr of AVO Talent and beloved voice director, Andrea Romano for being instrumental in helping him in his career. The very proactive and resourceful Lex shares some of the projects he is most proud of doing like Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot, Batman in Batman: Brave and The Bold and for Mattel toys, and Hans Solo for the Star Wars franchise. Lex describes the difference between celebrity voice matching and doing impressions and how he uses his background as a musician to find the tone and rhythm of the person’s voice. He demonstrates how he voice matches Sean Connery and teaches everyone how to impersonate Christopher Walken using just two words. He shares some cool tips and insights for breaking down audition copy for commercials and animation, how he interprets the “real, conversational” specs and shares some sage advice he got from Andrea Romano that has helped him along the way.
