Chuck and Stacey welcome versatile voice actor, Chris Fries, from network promos, commercials, TV Narration and video games who shares his inspiring story of persistence against all odds to work full-time in the voiceover industry. Chris talks about his beginnings in radio, a career in government, then a series of fortuitous events including a meeting with veteran VO pro, Scott Rummell, that would change the course of his life. Undeterred by any obstacles, Chris talks about his time working as a county jailor and shares the challenges and setbacks he encountered while getting started that would prove to be blessings in disguise. He talks about his experience recording his demo with Chuck Duran of Demos That Rock and offers advice to people starting out in the VO business. Chris reflects on the moment he felt he had gotten his big break in the VO industry and how his life experiences gave him an affinity for doing video games like the Call of Duty franchise with Gary Oldham and Kiefer Sutherland. Chris shares some of his current projects like Dead End Express on Nat Geo, The Briefcase on CBS, ACE Hardware and Hyundai commercials and network promos. He talks about his audition process, his strengths as a voice actor and the value he has found from working with top coaches Joyce Castellanos, Jodi Gottlieb, Marice Tobias and Huck Liggett.
