Episode description

Cancel Culture the act of canceling or “call-out culture” describes a form of boycott of individuals or entities that have acted or spoken in a questionable or controversial manner. The 1st amendment protects the right to speak freely and protest things of which we don’t agree with. However, not every offense warrants the public shaming, dismissing or discarding that some have suffered from sharing these beliefs publicly. Human error is inevitable but mostly everyone is entitled to redemption. Social Media also allow for disputes, debates, disagreements and protest. But if we allow for #CallOut culture to mute behaviors we don’t agree with, we may not be afforded the opportunity for thinking to evolve over time, apologies, counseling’s or enlightenment on the part of the offender. Is this trend moving us backwards? Is #CancelCulture best #Voided for the rest of 2020, an already canceled year?
