Being Jesus' cousin did John and Jesus have any familial relationship growing up?  Did John recognize Jesus as his cousin as he approached the Jordan River to be baptized? (John 1:29-31). Did John know beforehand that Jesus was the Messiah? I'm thinking not since John later inquires whether Jesus is the Messiah?  I know John leapt in his mother's womb when Mary visited Elizabeth. However, did Mary & Elizabeth realize at that time the baby was to be the Messiah?  What was John's understanding of who Jesus was as they were adolescents? 2.
