Q&A Sunday June 2019 - PDF
Jun 16, 2019
Episode description
Pastor Emmanuel Akognon answers questions submitted by members in the monthly Question and Answer Sunday.
1. In light Paul's wording of 1 Tim 5:18, is there any possibility that the book of Luke was seen as the authoritative word of God either by the children of Israel or the early church?
2. My employer is asking for photos from the upcoming San Francisco pride parade to be included in an upcoming issue of their magazine. Though not confirmed, there is a chance I could be asked by my employer to attend the event to take photos. As of now, I'm indifferent to taking the photos since they're being taken on behalf of my employer, but am fully prepared to outright decline participation should I be asked to either appear in any of the photos or give personal support. In order to avoid potential conflict, should I opt out of attending the event against my employer’s wishes if asked to go?
3. The Bible is often thought of as a western or European book. But does the Bible have its origins in Africa or elsewhere and who are the major contributors. (I know a little about Augustine and Tertullian are there many others)?
4. In 1 Samuel 15 God commands Saul to kill men, women, children and infants. (Also cattle sheep, camels, and donkeys) How is this just? How do we respond to critics who say our God is a moral monster by commanding to kill innocent women and children?
