#55 The Accidental Military Enlisted Officer - Maria Horton, Emesec
Jul 24, 2019•51 min
Episode description
A Pennsylvania native, Maria Horton was a nurse who was told she could be an officer and nurse in the military, and it was true. She worked in Washington DC and wound up with a 20 year career. After retiring, her background in both nursing and information in the Navy served her well for her business success. With an interest in technology, Maria was researching telemedicine at just the right time. Online services were just beginning to take shape and her timing was impeccable. As she says, "Life puts you in the right place or gives you the right experience to see what's coming". In sending medical records to remote locations, privacy was of utmost importance, and her cyber security background got its start.
