She recounts how her uppercrust mother teaches her to fight while her union organizer father deals with bomb threats. In Do the Wrong Thing, Ava compares her infatuation with a kindly trucker to her friend's child's infatuation with her. Also, 1980's Ava entertains driving a truck for a living herself.
